Re: MLB The Show 22 Franchise Discussion Thread
The Nationals have arrived at the All-Star Break (finally). They split the series against the Braves, which in hindsight is a miracle given that the Braves were launching homers in three of the four games. Stephen Strasburg shut them out in game two, but besides that...it was light tower power, if you will. The highlight of the series definitely occurred in game three. The Nats found themselves in familiar territory, going up 1-0 early and then giving up four runs in the middle innings. This time they were able to rally: a two run double by Yadiel Hernandez (filling in for the injured Joey Meneses) was followed up by a two run home run by Nelson Cruz in the 6th and the Nats never looked back. The series finale was a blowout, as Washington rested several key players and went with a bullpen game. It may seem odd to rest players right before the break, but many were tired from a long stretch of games and I didn't want to risk further injury to a team that's already missing many of it's best position players. Plus, it's the Braves, a much better team who I figured had a good chance of splitting the series.
We also have a few minor trades going down:
The Reds sent closer Lucas Sims to the Twins for SP Josh Winder and SS Will Holland
The Marlins sent closer Dylan Floro to the Angels in exchange for SS Jeremiah Jackson
The Tigers sent SP Tyler Alexander to the Rangers for C Yahel PozoCleveland Guardians - MLB The Show 25

Re: MLB The Show 22 Franchise Discussion Thread
Going against my own rules here and double posting...I decided to go ahead and just sim ahead through the All-Star Break now. I was going to wait but I figured I might as well do it while I have the game on.
Some more trades went down, still nothing too crazy though.
The Tigers are still busy, trading away C Eric Haase to Minnesota for LF Alex Kiriloff (personally don't understand this one but hey, whatever).
The Rangers traded away RP Brett Martin to the Angels for SP Ryan Smith and CF D'Shawn Knowles
The Giants traded SP Jakob Junis to the D-Backs in exchange for C Adrian Del Castillo
The White Sox part ways with CF Adam Engel, sending him to the Phillies for RP Baily Falter and SP Hans Crouse
The Tigers make another trade, sending SP Joey Wentz to the Marlins for SS Kahlil Watson
And finally, another in-division trade with the Red Sox sending 2B Christian Arroyo to the Orioles for LF Robert Neustrom and 2B Connor Norby.
There are still two weeks until the trade deadline, so it remains to be seen whether any team will make a big splash. The Tigers have been active and have been a surprise team this year, but they still sit at 49-49 which is 8 games behind Minnesota in the AL Central and 4.5 games out of the second wild card spot.
As for the Nationals, they will start the second part of the season at 35-63 and have an absolutely brutal stretch of games coming up: three in Arizona, three in LA against the Dodgers, a day off, then three at home against the Cards and three against the Mets, followed by a trip to Philly for four and a trip to Chicago for three with the Cubs. And yes, there is only one off day there.
Luke Voit and Joey Meneses have returned to the lineup, and breakout Luis Garcia is expected back in 2-3 weeks. That's about as close to a silver lining as it gets for now. Back to the grind!Cleveland Guardians - MLB The Show 25

Cardinals split 2 game series with Cubs
The Cardinals (3-2) split their mini two game series with the Cubs in Wrigley to begin the week. The Cardinals won on Monday, but were unable to secure the sweep winning Wednesday afternoon.
Miles Mikolas pitched well on Monday going 6.2 innings giving up 2 runs on 8 hits. He struck out 3 with 2 walks. Thankfully the offense was on fire putting up 8 runs on 14 hits with Nolan Arenado driving in 5 runs. The bullpen was solid in relief allowing just one baserunner in the final 2.1 innings, a hit by pitch by Blake Parker.
Wednesday Kwang Hyun Kim got the ball and he struggled, mightily. Kim would go just 2.1 innings giving up 7 runs on 9 hits with 4 walks against just 1 strikeout. Kim gave up 3 homeruns in those 9 hits. The only silver lining to the day was Ryan Helsley pitching 3.1 innings of scoreless relief giving up 2 hits with 5 strikeouts.
The Cardinals will host the Pirates this weekend and Monday (odd scheduling) for a 4 game series as the Cardinals play in front of the home fans for the first time in 2022.I can't shave with my eyes closed, meaning each day I have to look at myself in the mirror and respect who I see.

Re: MLB The Show 22 Franchise Discussion Thread
Man I just LOVE dynamic difficulty. I wish other sports games had it down as well as this game does. After the 3-peat, and getting comfortable, I just cant even get past the ALDS.
Anyways, after Mookie kept getting hurt and missing the playoffs the past two years. I made a difficult move, to trade him and Shane Baez who was on his last year for Juan Soto. Baez was asking for too much and I don't think he's been THAT good for me. Soto has this annoying *** animation whenever the pitch is a ball though.
My entire lineup now is guys I built through farm system. Feels great. Wish I could do the same for fielders but it has been hard to find quality fielders and building themComment

2023 Arizona Diamondbacks 06/23-06/25
Overall Record:53-25 (1st NL West, 5.0 over LA Dodgers
D-Backs come from behind to avoid series loss
The Arizona Diamondbacks had to come from behind in game three of their series against the Kansas City Royals to avoid their first series loss in the month of June.
Arizona was down at different points in that game 3-0 and 6-2 largely thanks to last years AL MVP Salvador Perez's two homeruns. However, Daulton Varsho also had two of his own and five total RBI's that brought Arizona back to win the series clinching game, 8-6.
Arizona won the first game of the series rather easily 9-3. Game two saw the D-Backs suffer a rare shutout (3rd of the season) in a 1-0 victory for the Royals. Their one run came on a 5th inning Willie Calhoun homerun that came on Kansas City's first hit of the game. Interestingly enough, both teams were hitless going into the 5th and both teams got their first hits with the first batter of that inning.
Arizona will now gear up for the end of June with a three game series vs. the 36-41 Rockies before one final game in the month against the Giants.Comment

October 20: Javelinas 2, Snow Sox 0
October 22: Javelinas 3, Snow Sox 1
The Javelinas grabbed game one over the Snow Sox 2-1 with some late heroics. David Hernandez’s RBI single in the bottom of the eighth setup San Antonio to take the opener of the Mountain League Championship Series.
Colorado Springs would strike first with a Juan Caceras solo home run in the fourth inning.
The Javelinas would tie it up in the sixth with a solo home run of their won from Sam Morgan.
In the eighth, T.J. Hart opened up the inning with a single. Sam Morgan struck out. Kosuki Matsui then doubled to right, but Hart was thrown out at the plate, 8-4-2. David Hernandez then came through with a clutch RBI single off the wall in right to give the Javelinas a 2-1 lead.
That setup Tom Jung to close out the Snow Sox. He gave up two base hits, but struck out two to lock down the save and allow San Antonio to grab the series lead.
Gus Woodson, the ML Cy Young winner, and Jon Reyes both pitched well. Woodson tossed seven innings, allowing one run on six hits, while striking out six. Reyes went six innings, allowing one run on six hits. He struck out three and walked two.
San Antonio grabbed a 2-0 series lead on Sunday evening with an 8-3 victory over Colorado Springs. T.J. Hart homered twice and drove in three as the Javelinas hit four home runs in the win.

Mike Stoneridge (1-1) took the loss for the Snow Sox, lasting only 4.1 innings and allowing seven runs on nine hits.
Colorado Springs returned home and secured a big win in game three as they defeated San Antonio 1-0. Six Snow Sox pitchers combined on the five hit shutout to get Colorado Springs back in the series.

In game four the Snow Sox tied the series up with a 6-5 victory. Juan Primo and Todd Austin each drove in two runs to help Colorado Springs even the series.
Sam Morgan went 1 for 4 with a home run and four RBIs in the losing effort for the Javelinas.
On Wednesday evening the Javelinas took a commanding 3-2 series lead over Colorado Springs with a 2-0 victory in the crucial game five at Security Service Park. RBI doubles from Emil Palmiero and Greg Hunter keyed the win as the Javelinas are just one game away from the World Series.
Russ Waters (2-0) tossed 7.2 innings of shutout baseball, striking out eight and walking four as he earned the win. Tom Jung pitched the final four outs to pick up his third postseason save.
The Javelinas wrapped up the Mountain League Championship Series on Saturday night with a 3-1 victory in Colorado Springs. Leo Sanchez (1-0) tossed 6.1 innings, allowing just one run on six hits. He struck out three and walked one to send San Antonio onto the World Series.
The Javelinas would strike first with a Sam Morgan RBI triple and Matsui RBI single in the first. Lamb then hit a solo home run in the second to increase their lead to 3-0.
That would be all that Leo Sanchez and the Javelinas bullpen would need.
Colorado Springs struck for a single run in the seventh on a Todd Austin RBI single, but that was it. San Antonio’s bullpen pitched 2.2 innings of scoreless relief with Tom Jung earning the save, his fourth this postseason, and the Javelinas will move onto the inaugural IBL World Series.

Keith Morales broke out of his postseason slump, going 2 for 5 with a home run and two RBIs in the win. Morales came into the game hitting just 1 for 22 in the postseason. Carl Lentzkow remained red-hot, going 3 for 4 with a run scored. He is now hitting .500 in the postseason.

Surprise scored runs in five innings and pounded out 13 hits in the win.
Kyle Brunet (1-0) pitched eight solid innings, allowing one run on four hits, while striking out eight and walking just one batter.
The Firebirds did make the home crowd nervous in the ninth, scoring one and loading the bases with none out. But Maury Keith came on and struck out Keith Morales and got Jeff Jankowitsch to ground into a 6-4-3 double play to end it. It was Keith’s fourth save of the postseason.
In game three as the series shifted downtown to Phoenix, the Saguaros grabbed a lead in the series with a 6-2 win in 12 innings. Mike Hollinger’s 12th inning double scored Hartley with the go ahead run as the Saguaros scored four in the inning.
This was a tight pitchers duel with the wind blowing in from center.

Surprise would tie it up in the third on a Ronny Hartley RBI single to left. They would then take the lead in the seventh on a Everett sacrifice fly, scoring Ricardo Rodriguez. Rodriguez had singled, then stole second and third.
Phoenix would tie it up in the bottom half. Bobby Gates reached on an error and Carl Lentzkow doubled. Jeff Jankowitsch would ground out to first to score Gates to tie the game at 2-2.

Kevin Robert picked up the win for Surprise with two innings of relief, allowing one hit and striking out one.
Surprise belted out 21 hits and won 14-6 on Thursday evening to take a commanding three games to one lead in the DLCS. The Saguaros hit three home runs as they rallied from an early 5-1 deficit to crush the Firebirds.
Surprise scored seven runs in the seventh and four in the eighth to turn a two run deficit into an eight run lead. Every player had at least two hits except for Ramos, who still went 1 for 4 with an RBI double.
Jaime Hernandez went 3 for 6 with two doubles, a home run and four RBIs, scoring three runs to help pace the Surprise offense.
Darren McCarty had a game for the Firebirds in the losing effort. He went 3 for 4 with two home runs and three RBIs.
Salvador Oliveros (0-1) took the loss out of the bullpen. He allowed five run son five hits and recorded just one out. Fuentes wasn’t much better, allowing five runs on seven hits in one inning of work as the Firebirds bullpen was shredded.
The Saguaros will now have a chance to wrap it up tomorrow night in Phoenix.
The Phoenix Firebirds fought off elimination on Friday night as they rallied for a 5-2 victory over Saguaros to send the series back to Surprise. Jeff Jankowitsch homered twice and drove in three to help the Firebirds to the win.
Surprise jumped out to an early 2-0 lead in the first on RBI doubles from Mike Hollinger and Rodriguez. But that is the only offense that they would get in this one as Angel Velez (1-0) and the Phoenix bullpen would not allow another run.
The Firebirds hit four home runs in the game including long balls from Bobby Gates and Michael Yancey.
Phoenix once again staved off elimination on Sunday night as they won 6-0 in Surprise. Bobby Gates went 2 for 4 with two doubles and three RBIs to help keep the Firebirds alive and force a game seven on Monday night.
Phoenix would score four runs in the top of the first, capped off by a Bobby Gates two-run double. A Brian Song RBI double in the third increased the lead to 5-0, and a second Gates RBI double in the seventh made it 6-0.
Mario Escobar (3-0) tossed a complete game shutout. He allowed five hits, while striking out nine and walking two. He has not allowed a run in 26.0 post season innings over three starts.
Reyna (1-2) took the loss for Surprise, only going 4 1/3 innings. He allowed five runs (four earned) on five hits, while striking out five, but he issued three walks.
Surprise would take game seven with a dramatic 4-3 walk off win to advance to the inaugural IBL World Series where they will face San Antonio. Alberto Ruiz’s solo home run to lead off the bottom of the eleventh sent the Firebirds home and moved Surprise on.
The Saguaros led 3-2 heading into the ninth inning, but Carl Lentzkow hit a solo home run off of closer Keith to force extra innings.

2023 Arizona Diamondbacks 06/26-06/28
Overall Record:56-25 (1st NL West, 6.5 over LA Dodgers)
D-Backs secure 4th sweep of June against Rockies
The Arizona Diamondbacks have now ensured they will not lose a series in the Month of June. June as a whole has been very good to the team from Arizona as thus far, they have lost just four games in the month. The month started with ten straight wins with sweeps of the Nationals, Padres and Dodgers and now is close to ending with a sweep of the Rockies.
Although Arizona did get the sweep, Colorado kept the series interesting, especially in the first game of the series as Arizona needed extra innings to take the 6-5 victory. After that, Arizona finished the series with wins of 5-3 and 4-1.
In the series, Carson Kelly took over the MLB lead in home runs (27) while Jared Walsh of the Angels is just one behind him with 26. Ketel Marte isnt far behind but currently sits in a tie for second in the NL with 24. Marte is also near the NL rbi lead with his 74 while the Reds Jesus Aguiar has 75. Walsh is leading the MLB in the category with 81.
Aaron Nola secured his 12th win of the season in game three. That number is atop the MLB wins leaderboard with the next closest being Mike Mikolas of the Cardinals and Cole Irvin of the Oakland A's with 11.
Arizona will now finish off the month with the first game of a three game series at home versus the San Francisco Giants (39-42).Last edited by Itsma806; 12-17-2022, 12:00 AM.Comment

Re: MLB The Show 22 Franchise Discussion Thread
Well, the Nationals came out of the break in decent form by taking 2 of 3 from the D-Backs. They lost a tough one in extras in Game 1, but rallied to win Games 2 (a 1-0 pitchers duel that saw Luke Voit hit his 30th HR of the year) and 3 (a 3-2 affair that saw another HR by Voit and a near comeback late by the D-backs). I say "decent form" because they didn't exactly set the world on fire, but they did manage to take the series...and they are the Nationals, so anytime they can take a series is a big deal.
Some news of note: Stephen Strasburg left in the second inning of Game 3, but may just miss one start, if anything. I may hold him out just to be cautious.
The Nationals (37-64), will go up against the Dodgers (70-29) and their top 3 starters (Buehler, Kershaw, Urias). I would be happy to take one of these three games, to be honest.Cleveland Guardians - MLB The Show 25
