Oh I totally get it. It's hard for me to not play with Cleveland. So it just depends on what kinda of fun you want to have. Once I start with another team and trying to build it up, then I become attached to THAT team. But you know, not everyone plays the same way so its all good.JUUUUUUUST A BIT OUTSIDEComment

Re: MLB The Show 22 Franchise Discussion Thread
I totally understand where you guys are coming from. I started a franchise with the Guards but Jose Ramirez was posting video game numbers in a video game that I try to keep as realistic as possible. Plus it was harder for me to make moves with the team as I didn't want to get rid of any of the players. That's when my Nationals rebuild program came to fruition lol.
I think the Guardians could still be a fun franchise, they have a great farm system and some good prospects. I don't know nearly as much about the Mets but I do believe they have some young talent as well? I would recommend simming a season or two to get to where you would need those players, but I'm not a simmer at all so it feels silly to say it to someone else.Cleveland Guardians - MLB The Show 25

Re: MLB The Show 22 Franchise Discussion Thread
2023 Washington NationalsGame 1: Zach Davies (2-4, 3.33) vs Jameson Taillon (2-1, 2.62) The Nationals continue to beat themselves, as they had the bases loaded with no outs in the second and could not score. Ozzie Albies made a terrific jumping grab to rob Lane Thomas and Keibert Ruiz bounced into a double play to kill the momentum. Atlanta would then score in the third when Ozzie Albies triples off the wall and scored on a Marcel Ozuna groundout. They would get their second run when Jose Iglesias singled, stole second, advanced on a wild pitch and then scored on an Austin Riley single. The Nationals kept getting men on but just could not get an extra base hit for anything. Every hard hit ball was either a line out or knocked down by the wind. They would finally get on the board with two down in the eighth when Ildemaro Vargas and Anderson Tejeda hit back to back doubles. Vargas’ double finally knocked Taillon out of the game, and he was replaced by closer AJ Minter. The Nationals would pinch hit Gleyber Torres in place of Keibert Ruiz to start the ninth. Torres would walk, and CJ Abrams would come in to pinch run. Brandon Nimmo would fly out for the first out. Abrams would then steal second before Luis Garcia flew out. Yadiel Hernandez would come through with a bloop single to tie the game at 2. Brandon Drury would single to knock Minter out of the game, but Huascar Ynoa would strike out Joey Meneses to end the rally. Carl Edwards Jr would pitch the ninth and had a scare as Austin Riley flew out to the warning track, but they Braves would end the inning without any further challenges. The Nats got aggressive in the tenth when Ildemaro Vargas led off with a single and Joey Meneses was thrown out trying to score. Washington would finally take the lead in the top of the eleventh when Wilmer Perez advanced Lane Thomas to third with a sac bunt and Brandon Nimmo allowed him to score with a groundout. Aaron Bummer would come in for the bottom of the eleventh and give up a run after a slow chopper bounced off second allowing both runners to be safe. Ronald Acuna was given the unintentional intentional walk, and Michael Harris dropped a bunt to allow a run to score. Austin Riley was then intentionally walked, Oswaldo Arcia struck out and William Contreras flew out to end a very stressful eleventh inning. The Nationals would go very aggressive again in the thirteenth, but this time it would pay off for them when Lane Thomas hit a line drive to right center to score Joey Meneses. Thomas was thrown out at second to end the inning, but drove in what would be the game winning run as Victor Arano came back out for the thirteenth. The former closer kept the Braves off base to give the Nationals their hardest earned victory of the year.
The Nationals travel to Atlanta to face the Braves for the third time this year. Atlanta started out cold but has really turned things around. Austin Riley is back to his 2022 MVP form, and he now leads the NL in runs batted in. Aaron Nola has also rebounded from his rough start and is looking like an ace again. This is definitely not a team anyone wants to face right now.
Game Two: Cade Cavalli (3-2, 3.04) vs Aaron Nola (4-4, 2.73) Cade Cavalli was going toe-to-toe with Aaron Nola for two innings, but things started to go awry in the third. Ozzie Albies walked to lead off the inning, and Marcel Ozuna followed with a two-run home run. Jose Iglesias singled, and then Ronald Acuna Jr hit a two-run home run of his own. Austin Riley would drive home another run in the fifth with the hit and run on. William Contreras would also single home a run, and the rout was on. Cavalli would leave the game, and would be replaced by Kyle Finnegan. Atlanta added a seventh run when Michael Harris singled to bring in Ronald Acuna, who had doubled in the previous at bat. The Nationals would finally score in the eighth when Luis Garcia doubled and scored on a Joey Meneses single. Atlanta would score once more when Ozzie Albies and Marcel Ozuna hit back to back doubles, and the Nats lose this one 8-1.
Game Three: Stephen Strasburg (4-4, 2.17) vs Spencer Strider (6-2, 3.02) Strasburg was pulled from starting this game as he experienced elbow inflammation during warmups. The Nationals would have to rely on their bullpen to go all nine innings in this one. First out would be Kyle Finnegan. He would go two innings, giving up a run on an Austin Riley home run. The Nationals would respond in the third when Brandon Nimmo hit a two run home run to put the Nats on top. Victor Arano would come in in the bottom of the third and pitch three scoreless innings. Spender Strider dominates the Nationals again, as he always seems to do, but left after just five innings, giving up two runs on three hits and striking out eight. Zach Eflin would come in and give up a run after Yadiel Hernandez doubled and scored when Joey Meneses singled. Collin Poche and Carl Edwards Jr. would pitch the sixth and seventh, neither would allow a baserunner and strikeout one. The Braves threatened in the eighth against Aaron Bummer, and Jose Iglesias nearly tied the game with a two out base hit but Brandon Nimmo made a nice read on the ball and was able to chase it down to end the threat. The Nationals added a much needed insurance run in the ninth when Lane Thomas hit a solo home run, giving closer Trevor Rosenthal a three run cushion to work with as he would face the heart of the Braves order. He would get Ronald Acuna Jr and Michael Harris to ground out, and Austin Riley chased a slider out of the zone to end the game on a strikeout.
Somehow, some way, the Nationals won this series. It took everything they had, and they had to use the entire bullpen (except Sean Doolittle) to win the finale. Stephen Strasburg’s elbow inflammation does not seem serious enough to cause him to miss a start, but the Nationals will make a move to get a fresh arm in the bullpen. They have sent veteran Sean Doolittle back to AAA and called up their 1st round pick from the 2019 draft Jackson Rutledge. He is a 24 year old right handed starter who will be coming out of the bullpen. It is yet to be determined how long he will stay at the major league level, but the Nationals need a long man in the ‘pen, especially with the packed schedule they have for the next month and a half.
The Nationals (23-23) now face the Mets (22-25) in Washington for four games, followed by three more with the Braves.Cleveland Guardians - MLB The Show 25

Re: MLB The Show 22 Franchise Discussion Thread
That is my biggest hurdle is I lose interest fast if I feel like I am just going to win none stop and never lose
Even this upcoming year when I start a new franchise with the Mets. They are my favorite team. I have a roster that is expected to win 100 games and be in the series mix. but I still make sure i have settings that will not guarantee me the title every year. If I win the title every year with no shot to lose it I can not get into that at all. I see some people post here they win 140 games and while it makes me happy they enjoy it i rarely can read the recaps. Like to me if they won 105 games ok great. But when has any team won 140 games or 4 titles in a row? Your recaps are super exciting cause you took a team that actually stinks and now your starting to win. you earned it all. enjoyable reads all the way
if I can just get to 82 wins, anything above and beyond is icing.
and I've had some 70 win seasons that were more satisfying than a 90 win season.
if you can grind through inning after inning after inning and just barely manage to have the 29th best record in baseball,
that's a huge accomplishment more impressive than winning the World's Serious with the best team money can buy afaicOSFM23 - Building Better Baseball - OSFM23

Does anybody know if difficulty settings affect injuries using default sliders?
The higher the difficulty the more likely you’ll experience injuries?
I usually play on all star and don’t really see many in game injuries unless I raise the injury sliders.

PADRES SWEEP CARDINALS, HEAD TO WORLD SERIES
GAME 1 St. Louis 0 San Diego 5
W: Darvish (2-0)
L: Mikolas (1-1)
GAME 2 St. Louis 3 San Diego 9
W: Wacha (1-0)
L: Hudson (0-1)
GAME 3 San Diego 10 St. Louis 1

L: Flaherty (0-2)
GAME 4 San Diego 1 St. Louis 0
W: Snell (1-0)
L: Montgomery (2-1)
S: Hader 2[/u]
The Padres were able to coast to a relatively easy NLCS sweep over St. Louis. The big story for the club was finally getting their big bat of Juan Soto going. After Soto hit an abysmal .052 (1/19) in the NLDS against rival LA, Soto rebounded in the NLCS hitting .428 (6/14) with 2 HRS. Fernando Tatis still has not been able to do anything this playoffs hitting .096 with 0 HRs. Matt Carpenter returned from injury to torment his old teaming. Carpenter hit 3 big home runs in 4 games vs his former team and hit .461 (6/13). Tucker Barnardt, who hit 5 HR's in the regular season and none with the Padres after being acquired at the trade deadline now has 3 HR's in the playoffs and is hitting .322. The Padres who finished the regular season with a record of 126-36 will face off against defending champions, the Houston Astros who finished 110-52. Game 1 will be Yu Darvish vs Framber Valdez in San Diego.Last edited by franch1se; 03-11-2023, 11:35 AM.Comment

Re: MLB The Show 22 Franchise Discussion Thread
2023 Washington NationalsThe New York Mets come to Washington for a four game series. This is the first time the Nationals have seen the Mets this year, and they are quite a different team than the 2022 version. Starling Marte and Brandon Nimmo are both gone, which is a major blow to the top of the lineup. Taijuan Walker and Edwin Diaz are also gone. The Mets did add a bat in the offseason, acquiring catcher Tyler Stephenson from the Reds. He is off to a fantastic start, entering the series with 11 home runs and 34 RBI.
The Mets have been struggling as of late, going from frontrunner in the division to being in fourth place at 22-25. The loss of Jacob deGrom cannot be understated, and while they still have a great team, it seems that losing him for the year has dealt a major blow to the team’s conciousness.
Game 1: Andrew Heaney (2-4, 5.23) vs MacKenzie Gore (3-4, 4.24) The Nationals were able to get the bases loaded in the first, when Ildemaro Vargas singled, Victor Robles walked, and Brandon Drury reached on an error; but Joey Meneses bounced into a double play and Gleyber Torres followed with a ground out. The Nationals did get a run, but they probably should have gotten out of the inning with a lot more. Pete Alonso would hit a solo home run to lead off the second to tie the game. The Nationals did not let their next opportunity go to waste, as Gleyber Torres would reach first after a dropped third strike and Anderson Tejeda would follow that with a two run home run. Andrew Heaney’s day would end quickly as he would be pulled after giving up a double to Ildemaro Vargas to start the fifth inning. Heaney wasn’t pitching terribly but was giving up some solid contact. He was replaced by Jordan Yamamoto, who gave up a double to Victor Robles, scoring Vargas. Washington would get their fifth run in the sixth inning off of Deolis Guerra. Lane Thomas would single and then score on a Wilmer Perez double, his second double of the game. MacKenzie Gore would leave the game after seven solid innings of work. He finished with three strikeouts, no walks, and a run on five hits. Jackson Rutledge, the Nationals first round pick from the 2019 draft, would enter the game in the eighth to make his MLB debut. He would retire the side in order, and come back out for the ninth inning as well, where he would give up a solo home run to Mark Canha. He would then retire Jeff McNeil before giving up back to back hits to Pete Alonso and Tyler Stevenson. That would be the end of Rutledge’s debut, as Trevor Rosenthal would come in to get the final out, which he did by punching out Francisco Lindor
Game 2: Joey Lucchesi (1-3, 5.94) vs Josiah Gray (4-4, 3.31) Washington scored first in this one, as Wilmer Perez and Ildemaro Vargas hit back to back doubles in the third. Joey Meneses would then single to score Vargas. The Mets responded in the fourth when Pete Alonso doubled to score Luis Guillorme. The Mets would challenge in the sixth, having a man on first and third with no outs. Josiah Gray would strike out Mark Canha and get Jeff McNeil to ground into a double play to kill the rally. Joey Lucchesi would be pulled in the sixth after giving up a lead off double to Brandon Drury, and Deolis Guerra would strikeout Joey Meneses before leaving with a hand injury*. Josiah Gray would be done after seven innings, giving up a run on five hits, no walks and six strikeouts. Carl Edwards Jr would pitch the eighth, but could not find a groove and the Mets would tie the game up when Mark Canha singled to score pinch runner Carlos Dominguez. The Nationals would turn to Colin Poche to get the final two outs of the inning, which he did with four pitches by getting Jeff McNeil to ground out and striking out Pete Alonso. Poche would return for the ninth, giving up a hit but getting out of the inning unscathed. The Nationals would win it in the ninth when Joey Meneses singled, Gleyber Torres doubled and Lane Thomas followed two batters later with a sac fly.
*Guerra has a bruised hand and will miss 1-6 days, more problems for an exhausted Mets bullpen.
Game Three: Tylor Megill (6-1, 1.98) vs Zach Davies (2-4, 3.23) The Mets would jump out front in the second when Tyler Stephenson singled and advanced to second on a wild pitch. Dominic Smith would then double after a tremendous at bat that saw him fight back from being down 0-2. This would drive in Stephenson. Eduardo Escobar would fly out to center to advance Smith to third, and Christian Pache would hit a sac fly to give the Mets a 2-0 lead. Tylor Megill showed his record and stats are no fluke, as he dominated the Nationals. Their best opportunity came in the seventh, when they had two men on and nobody out, but could do nothing with it. Megill would go 7.1 innings, giving up no runs on 4 hits, walking one and striking out six. Joely Rodriguze would pitch two thirds of an innings and Tommy Kahnle would close it out for the Mets, who racked up 15 hits but only scored the two runs.Zach Davies would find his control and go 5.2 innings, giving up just the two runs on eleven bases, walking one and striking out three. He would give way to Jackson Rutledge with two down in the sixth. Rutledge would finish the game, giving up four hits but not allowing any runs. He also did not walk any batters but is still looking for his first major league strikeout. The Mets won this one easily, even though it was 2-0, it felt like a much larger deficit.
Game Four: David Peterson (2-3, 3.40) vs Cade Cavalli (3-3, 3.81) The Mets would score in the first when the first three batters reached via singles. Francisco Lindor would then ground into a double play to score a run. Things started getting interesting in the fourth, when Mark Canha was hit by a pitch. He would come around to score on a Darin Ruf ground ball out. In the bottom half of the inning, Joey Meneses would single before Gleyber Torres was suspiciously hit by a pitch. Anderson Tejeda would follow with a single to load the bases before Lane Thomas flew out to center to score Meneses. That would be all for the Nationals as Wilmer Perez popped out and Enrique Hernandez hit a fly ball to center. Hernandez has been struggling, but the last two games have seen him taking more pitches and making much better contact. The Mets would get a run back in the fifth when Francisco Lindor singled to score Guillorme. David Peterson was starting to tire in the fifth, but the Nationals could not capitalize and the game was really starting to feel just like yesterday’s game. This would change in the sixth, as with two down Anderson Tejeda doubled off of Hansel Robles and Lane Thomas would follow with a two run home run to tie the game at three. The Mets rallied right back, as Roberto Perez welcomed Victor Arano into the game with a home run on the very first pitch. They would add two more runs off of Colin Poche in the eighth, and the game would end with the Mets winning 6-3. The Nationals had chances to rally, but the Mets bullpen would hold as veterans Hansel Robles, Keone Kela and Tommy Kahnle made pitches when they counted, despite giving up quite a few hits.
The Nationals move back to .500 (25-25) and fatigue is starting to show, especially in the last two games against the Mets. There were plenty of opportunities to win those games, but the Nationals could not square up the ball as they normally do. They have been a great doubles hitting team this year, but could not execute when they needed to and ended up splitting the series against a Mets team that is fighting to stay in the division hunt.
Washington is halfway through their 17 day stretch of games without any time off, and will have to face the Braves (29-20) for three games before flying out west.Cleveland Guardians - MLB The Show 25

Man, just played the Allstar game and the poor Athletics had to send Tony Kemp who was hitting .165. That was sad. But Paul Blackburn is 6-6 with an era of 2.95 or James Kaprielan is 1-5 with a 2.80 era didn’t make the team. I know there are only so many pitcher spots and they weren’t better than the 5 SP that made it.
Happy for Tony Kemp who can now say he is an Allstar. LolFollow me on Twitch
