What do you need added to MLB 23 to purchase it?

I dont in anyway want this to be a negative thread just want to hear what you would need to upgrade from MLB 22 to 23 next year to make the $70 worth your time

Like for me being in my 40's I barely notice the graphical upgrades anymore. So graphics are not a selling point for me =. I also only play franchise mode so for me its all about that. I do not need to hear better trade logic or anything like that

I need them to go deeper. Maybe full minor leagues all the way down to rookie ball. Maybe they add the real minor league stadiums for AAA and AA and also A and add full A ball rosters. That would make me want to move to the 23 version.

My fear is all we get is some new trade logic , minor graphic upgrade, and cross over saves or something which wont be enough for me

Year to year saves or the ability to transfer rosters year to year.

If that isn't available it would have to be a pretty sizable overhaul to franchise for me.

Re: What do you need added to mlb23 to purchase it?

Obviously a return of Y2Y saves would lead to a no doubt purchase. But I don't foresee that feature returning next year, or anytime in the immediate future to be honest.

The biggest thing for me is the inclusion of the new schedule where each team plays everyone which should be in the game as they always follow the current year schedule. Also, the expanded playoffs which again should be implemented this go round.

Other than that, the biggest weakness for me was missing presentational elements along with not as in depth commentary. Both expectedly didn't measure up to previous years as you're talking a few years of commentary recorded versus that of 10+ years. So I'm hoping for expansion in both of those areas.

As for gameplay, I think its damn good now and admittedly if they kept gameplay the same and added those few things above, I would buy the game.

I'm sure roster logic and transaction logic (free agency/trades) will be tweaked/tuned just like every year and I do expect the gameplay to get better with subtle changes and additional animations.

While I absolutely despise starting a franchise over after years of Y2Y saves, I will likely buy '23 as I expect the new schedule and playoffs to be implemented and expect the gameplay on the field will take another step forward as it has each year previously.
I can't shave with my eyes closed, meaning each day I have to look at myself in the mirror and respect who I see.

I miss the old days of Operation Sports :(

Pretty sure I’m already on board for 23’ just for the new scheduling and playoff format.

I could see it being my last purchase for a while though if other franchise improvements ( you know, the ones most of us have been asking about for years) aren’t implemented soon.

          Rosters saves must transfer.

Commentary needs a real boost for me as well. I like the new crew, but the name database this year is awful. Really saps the joy out of playing with created rosters.

With franchise mode being so generic, I wish they would just have a season mode. Just let me manage my 40-man.

.. the game is peaking for me. Even if I do buy next year, it will be from the bargain bin.

Too early to even guess what improvements to be made. Day one pre-order regardless.

Re: What do you need added to mlb23 to purchase it?

Since I skipped 22, and I now have a PS5, I'm probably in on 23 regardless. The new schedule will be nice.

I'm happy with the graphics of 21, especially now that I can play at 4K on the PS5.

Biggest things to fix for me are roster and bullpen management by the AI. It's gotten better over the years but it's still pretty poor.

I like starting fresh with each new game, but I will miss my 21 team. I hope to finish one more season before moving on. Even then, I may keep 21 installed to continue playing it from time to time.

Edit: I do wish they'd bring Season Mode (aka Franchise lite) back. I've adjusted to having minor leagues, but I miss just having the 40-man roster.

                Y2Y saves
                New menus in franchise mode
And bring back owner mode/other features in franchise to freshen it up a bit.

League customization with ability to not have a DH or new playoff rules. I get it free with XBox game pass for PC but I think I will probably not play MLB 23 as it will not have what I am looking for

Honestly, for me, I need a graphics overhaul. I don't know exactly what that even means, but I need to see it look "next gen". Not that 22 is a bad looking game, but I feel like I've been playing the same 'visual' game for too long now without any real leaps in the graphics department.

I'm on Xbox. So I'll be playing it regardless. If it's on Game Pass, great. If not, I'll buy it, as I played the previous versions on Game Pass and don't own them. It's far and away my most played game, it's a no doubter for me.

I’ll get 23 just like every year but her are a few things I’d like to see.

-SOTS please find a way to have this in next gen systems
-Continue to improve Stadium Creator, add roof and bullpen options.
-Improve game day/ stadium atmosphere. Sound off the bat didn’t sound right to me this year. Crowd noise and interaction could use more work. In between innings entertainment, different fireworks in stadium.

I need RTTS to be fully divested from DD and progression not in any way tied to opening little fake card packs.

                          That's it.

Y2Y saves. If I can't continue my "play every game" O's franchise from '22, I'm not buying it. I've built too much of a connection to this team to start over. There's nothing else they could add to the game that would make it so significantly better that it would override my connection to my team.

Franchise modes are not about features; they are about connecting with your team/universe without the mode interfering with pointless tasks/boosts/options. MLBTS does this better than any other franchise mode out there.

Now, if I get to the point where I feel satiated with my franchise and ready to move on; I will consider buying a new game - but I am guessing that won't happen until MLB24 or 25.
Play the games you love, not the games you want to love.

I got my moneys worth out of MLB 22. Played well over 100 hours.....not bad. However it did not hold my interest. I prefer MLB 20 by a country mile.

The only thing that can bring me back......SDS needs to take a look at what Visual Concepts did with NBA 2K23. Simply put the amount of depth and customization you have with MyLeague and in particular ERA Mode is beyond anything I have ever experienced in a “console" sports video game. It is an amazing game both on and off the hardwood.

I actually have a My Era Baseball Universe (just without all the tiny little details like 2K) with MLB 20 and the plethora of rosters available due in large part to Y2Y saves and the one and done roster import feature.

So yeah.......it will take that kind of scope to bring me back. I really don’t care for the modern game anymore anyway. Don’t care much for how the game is played today, don’t care much about the stars of the game they are promoting (save for guys like Judge, Ohtani, Trea Turner and the like).....I have zero desire to play a modern day franchise.

I am so immersed in my Yankees Year 6 that started back on MLB 2017 and several other multi year franchises.....yeah. It’s going to take something as impressive as 2K’s My Era mode to bring me back.

So I expect not to be purchasing MLB23.

I was not getting MLB 22 (basically skipped 21 which is a drink coaster) but my wife and son surprised me (bless their hearts). And I loved it initially.....and then it kinda faded away the more I played. And don’t get me wrong....it was a well made game. No doubt. Just did not connect with me like MLB 20. And I will make sure to tell them.....don't surprise me again LOL.

Unless of course SDS really knocks it out of the park with something like that. But I highly doubt it. Their focus is clearly somewhere else.
