Man this game has just been on an extended nose dive for years. SDS has gone from one of the best to one of the worst. I say that because the improvements are minimal each year, it’s not even close to a next gen game in so many ways and just listening to Ramone each year, he doesn’t even seem like he knows baseball in depth or understands/appreciates the nuances of the game. It’s so frustrating for what once was such an optimistic time of year to now what is a consistent let down.

Re: MLB The Show 23 Road to the Show & Face Scan Feature Premiere Starting Now
I think they turned the negro leagues addition into a pet project and didn’t do too much else to the game. And I love the addition, but sometimes it feels like they spent the year putting together an interactive documentary and forgot they have the rest of the video game waiting for attention.
I agree and was looking forward to the Negro League addition as well. Now, I just cannot justify the cash for an mlb the show 22 re-release with a story mode added. I now see why they keep dripping out Negro League info. It might be all that they really did.Comment

Serious question - is San Diego Studios in serious financial trouble or way understaffed? I’m not exaggerating when I say this is the most pathetic excuse for a rollout of a new game I’ve ever seen. Literally nothing of substance new outside of Negro leagues. Does anybody know what’s really going on??Comment

Baseball is practically the only video game I play
And when ‘17 failed to meet my expectations, I continued to play ‘16 because it provided the enjoyment I seek out of a baseball game.
If you’re as frustrated with ‘23 as you share to be, it honestly shouldn’t be difficult to not spend money on a game you are not going to enjoy

Blowback from the "premiere" for RTTS was apparently already so bad they've temporarily taken down the video from YouTube lol.
Honestly, we're used to a limited number of new features and only getting cosmetic stuff in sports games year to year. But don't insult us by claiming to have "premieres" and "events" when you don't even have content to last 15 minutes for it.Comment

I wouldn't mind if 2K took over baseball again. They certainly aren't perfect by any means, but I enjoyed the 2K baseball games back in the day.Comment

And I am sadly getting very close to being one of them.
I really really thought by 23 this game would be blowing our minds by how good it looks with these powerful current gen systems.Last edited by tnixen; 03-02-2023, 08:36 PM.Comment

Now, I’m perfectly happy with the game because of how I play it, my wants and needs. Excited about 9PM on the 23rd. Understand those with yearly complaints. If the game doesn’t immerse you, or excite you, simply do not purchase the game. That’s a message to SDS, is it not? But if you purchase it anyway and continue to bash it…..it becomes moot.
Peace.Comment

Yeah…I’ll pick this game up only on sale. They showed off adding a cutscene…not even cutsceneS throughout the length of your career…one cutscene. They showed off a redone menu. A menu. Brought back something that was already in the game. I’m done.Comment

I wonder if part of the issue is the engine they use. Maybe it was tailored exactly for last gen or something.Comment

Makes you wonder if these new CBA rules for franchise worked with the old engine. They seemed to always say they can only do so much with the franchise engine. Maybe we got lucky and they had to redo it. But probably not.Follow me on Twitch
