If MLB the Show would allow us to create/modify managers and coaches, problem solved.
By now, every fake person in a sports video game should be modifiable.

Well the fans would be easy. I mean you name 1 and that covers a 10th of the stadium since they duplicate the fans around the park. Name about 15 fans and you covered 40,000

Damn, Oscar Colas does not have name audio in the game according to a Youtube video I am watching. Might have to make him available in a trade so I don't need to here "Number (insert number here)" every time he bats or does something haha

The overhaul the draft and before any of those players reach the majors the next version of the game is released.

Y2Y would be a one time programming effort. Then the improved draft actually matters.

I feel like if it was doable, SDS would have never stopped it, plus Madden and 2k would have joined in long ago as well.
1 - SDS stopped it when they added XBOX and programmed the game for current and last gen machines.

2 - The NFL and NBA have no significant minor leagues. We have a reworked minor league draft and then you will throw away all those players and start over from scratch again when mlbts24 is released - so of what value is the improved draft?

Not really. I admittedly don't know a ton about video game development, but I am sure they would constantly have to make sure the new version of franchise was compatible with files from the previous game, that limits the changes they would be able to make to the mode. It's something they would likely have to spend a lot of time troubleshooting every cycle to make sure they don't screw up the carry over files each year.

The point Caulfield was making is that there is a reason that other sports games never even tried this feature even though I am sure it would be big feature for those games too. It's probably just a bigger undertaking that it seems on the surface

                              1. That was likely amongst the reasons. Not the only reason but was most likely a contributor. No arguing that.

                              2. So, for this one, what I will say is that everyone plays different. I have seen users play 5 seasons playing every game. So those classes matter. For me, I hate real rosters. I hate trying to match real life. I hate trying to keep everything perfect. I will play full GM for 8-10 years by only simulating before I sit down and play a season with a team I built. That's what I like to do. Play with a team I built. I have done this multiple times and have enjoyed these franchises the most because they all play out different. No trying to match real life.

So to answer the question, improved draft, scouting, and other future things like roster size, and free agency hold a lot of value. I also have a friend that only does quick manage and will get in 10-12 seasons per iteration.

In the end though, it is to each their own. But I do think that it needs to be recognized that not everyone plays the game the same way and I would assume the metrics that SDS gets from the game show that.

You may want to actually experience the overhauled draft before making confirmed opinions.

And not everyone plays every single game of franchise and get deeper into franchise seasons which then allows them to see their prospects develop and make it to the big leagues.

And Y2Y would in no way, shape or form be a one time programming effort. Its a new task year in and year out to get old saves to work with changes to logic, features, etc..within franchise mode and RTTS of the newest installment.
I can't shave with my eyes closed, meaning each day I have to look at myself in the mirror and respect who I see.
