A more accurate description is until the current gen game stops being made on Xbox One / PS4 you won't see the big time improvement on it.Comment

Re: MLB The Show 23 Impressions (Xbox Series X|S, PlayStation 5)
Here are some things I've noticed after playing about 10 games so far. All are just Exhibition games with Default sliders. I started on HOF pitching and hitting using Dynamic. I've ended up at All-Star hitting and Legend pitching FWIW.
- My timing this season has been off hitting. Not an issue with the game, but more likely me.
- Pitcher confidence seems to play a BIG role. If the confidence is high, pitchers will paint the corners but if confidence is low, they are all over the map. And confidence seems to swing a lot during the game.
- I'm seeing 3-4 HBP per game. Typically when either the confidence is low or energy is low. Hoping this can be tuned a bit.
- CPU pitchers are losing energy FAST. I have yet to see a pitcher get past 60-65 pitches without going yellow and 80-85 in the red or completely gone. Hopefully this can be tuned a bit.
- I'm not seeing a lot of HRs during games. Maybe 2 (total) at most during a game. I've hit a bunch that I though would be gone but 1-hop the wall. Same for the CPU.
- I think the stadiums/uniforms look great this year. Feels like they've made everything on the uniforms just a little bigger (logos, patches, team names, etc.) which makes them stand out more. Could just be my old eyes but they seem a bit different - for the good.
- I do agree that it's time for some new grass/dirt textures.
- I'm still having the issue with the scheduling a pitcher to pitch feature where they come in with about a 20% decrease in energy off the bat. Doesn't seem to happen when I manually bring in a reliever first and then afterwards it seems to work.
Overall I'm really liking the game this year, but I really hope that something can be done about CPU pitcher energy getting killed really quickly. I'm going to try to adjust the stamina slider but I kind of like just using defaults.MLB: Pittsburgh Pirates, Colorado Rockies
NFL: Pittsburgh Steelers
NHL: Pittsburgh Penguins
NBA: Denver Nuggets, Orlando Magic
NCAA: Penn State Nittany Lions, Boston College EaglesComment

Re: MLB The Show 23 Impressions (Xbox Series X|S, PlayStation 5)
I've played about 5-6 games so far, strictly an offline exhibition/franchise player.
People were right when they said hitting feels better this year. It's hard to explain, but I think the timing and placement of the pci accurately determines where the ball goes. The new throwing meter is a nice addition as well. Anything to make fielding a little more difficult and less mundane is a plus for me.
Other than those two things...I'm not sure what else there is for an offline players like myself. It bums me out to say that this game has definitely fallen behind other sports titles since moving to the next gen consoles. I was someone who bought a PS3 and PS4 exclusively for this game because it was THAT good. The past couple of years have really just felt like a roster update to me.
I can't fathom why the grass/dirt have looked the same for so long. The same goes for animations I've been seeing since Mccutchen was on the cover. In my opinion, this game badly needs signature animations. 2k has layup packages/signature animations for players. Madden used to have different running styles for certain running backs and currently has different throwing animations for specific quarterbacks.
You can watch 30 people take grounders and throw to first base and none of them are identical. To be able to play and see Bogaerts field and throw differently than a Lindor would make things so refreshing.
This game plays a solid game of baseball between the lines which is important, but it has been doing that for years now. I would love for this game to look and feel next gen because I really believe it could be the most beautiful game of all the sports titles.
Like I said, this is for an offline player like myself. I'm happy for the DD community and others who are pleased with the game and progress it's made. I've been reading this board for well over a decade now, and it's a great community. One thing I've noticed is that criticism of this game isn't received well for whatever reason. Tough criticism after years and years of patience is fair at this point, and I think it's the only way for this game to take leaps forward.Comment

Re: MLB The Show 23 Impressions (Xbox Series X|S, PlayStation 5)
Looks like the scheduling in future seasons isn’t quite accurate. Teams don’t flip-flop home and road for the inter league play from year-to-year consistently. Also still frustrating as a Cub Fan that they haven’t given us 1:20 baseball on Fridays in future seasons.
I submitted a ticket for awareness.Comment

Re: MLB The Show 23 Impressions (Xbox Series X|S, PlayStation 5)
Does SDS or Russell ever have a forum or interaction with fans where they have to answer why their game is stuck in PS3 lane while every other sports game has made graphical leaps on PS5? Seems like nobody has to be accountable so they throw out some DD nonsense, a couple of “updates” that are basically rule changes and on the the next…so frustrating when you buy a ps5 just for a game that now 3 years running hasn’t cared about the PS5.Comment

Man I hate to place blame on the devs, but how have they not just changed the grass in some way or shape? I mod soccer games on pc, and it genuinely isn’t that difficult to just go in and tweak colors and patterns. I think they have maybe bitten off more than they can chew atm, but the gameplay in between the lines has stagnated. I just want better grass and dirt. Jersey physics. Player models is prob too much to ask, but give us something fresh in terms of graphics.

They have a place to submit bugs and feedback that goes directly to them and isn’t part of open forum.

SCEA could keep beefing up the CAP and stadium creator tools, reestablish year-to-year saves, BOOM! You have ERA-Mode back in the Show.
With the tremendous community of CAPsters, roster set builders, and stadium creators, it isn't a wonder that the year-to-year saves feature was suddenly scrapped; SCEA's brilliant idea to ensure yearly purchasing of the game and kibosh those gamers that might stick with a title an additional year or two.Comment

Year to year saves makes it more likely that people would buy the game every year notless likely.SCEA could keep beefing up the CAP and stadium creator tools, reestablish year-to-year saves, BOOM! You have ERA-Mode back in the Show.
