Re: MLB The Show 23 Impressions (Xbox Series X|S, PlayStation 5)
No slider hunting for me either. Dynamic difficulty takes care of gameplay issues like this. You all should try it starting on All Star and see how you make out then.I play on AS…..no sliders…..always have…..classic pitching, auto baserunning, auto field, manual throw.
I know there are ebbs and flows in the game. What makes the game great.
I played 20 + games and I could NOT get the CPU involved AT ALL. I have an average ball club, average pitching. Always took the loses with the wins. Never “cheated”. Way too many foul balls, predictable Ks, weak grounders, a few fly balls, NO power by the CPU…none. There was no ebb and flow. I could throw the ball down the center of the plate….nada. I knew the outcome when I started, I.e., there wasn’t going to be much, if any competition. I was really disappointed, sent info to SDS, was ready to just give it up and go back to ‘20.
First game post patch, nothing about my approach to the game changed. CPU was smacking the ball between the lines, gave up 3 homers. I know what a placebo affect is. This was not.
I know SDS was made aware of something just not right, something just really off about the game.
If you were able to get the game to work for you….brilliant, but for years this game out of the box with no slider adjustments (for me) was dang near perfect. I was not about to spend my time slider hunting.

I've done that years ago and find it would give a yo yo affect even during the game. I don't want it to be easy or hard depending on how im doing. Just balanced. I play on all- star as well, but I use hof pitching and find a great balance. I do use tweaked sliders from a guy with his version of rosters hand in hand, and that's been for the last 4 years or so. I'll have even games where I get drilled early and can't recover and games where I dominate. But it's never predictable. Had 5 game slides, and the longest win streak in the franchise I've had was a 10 gamer. Nothing is a gimme. My only confusion is if it's on HOF, will the AI pitch to me on HOF?[emoji848] either way, I have very competitive games.

Dude 100% not placebo, IMO they messed up CPU hitting in update 2 somehow, cause I have the same experience as you, something for sure changed after the patch today, they have some bite againComment

dude I dont know what you said to SDS about CPU hitting but you saved the game for me.. I'm positive something was broken and they fixed it..
I gave up 16 hits tonight to the dodgers which was NOT happening before the patch. I gave up 10hits in game 1, then 16 in game 2.
I played like 30 games after patch 2 and I didnt get anywhere close to that CPU offense. They are dangerous now and its friggin amazing!

My impressions so far? Holy EFF, what a HUGE improvement over PS4. Should have made the jump much sooner.Comment

Someone else mentioned this earlier. I just went and check on the PS5 version and sure enough the D'Backs games are not listed on any of the dates that I can see.Comment

I have only played one game post patch. But, it was the best game that I have played since I took it out of the box. I won, but it wasn't easy. Went down by 3 early on. Clawed my way back by the later innings and took the lead. Then they came clawing back. First win I felt like I had to work for.I play on AS…..no sliders…..always have…..classic pitching, auto baserunning, auto field, manual throw.
