I've done a poor job recently of updating my franchise, but hopefully that is going to change with the new season upon us.
But for now, here is the 2025 season wrap up.
The Cardinals 2025 season has come to an end as they lost to the Dodgers in the NLCS in 5 games. The Cardinals were once again part of the Wildcard Series as they fell apart in the final two weeks of the season thus allowing the Dodgers to get home field advantage in the National League and the Braves to be the 2nd best divisional winner.
The Cardinals faced the Giants in the Wild Card Series and made quick work winning the first two games to advance to the NLDS to face the Braves, the team the Cardinals beat in the NLCS last year. After falling behind 2-0 in the series, the Cardinals would rally and win 3 straight to advance to their second straight NLCS, this time facing the Dodgers, the team the Cardinals beat in the NLDS last year.
But unfortunately another trip to the World Series wasn't the result of this year's NLCS, but instead a lackluster, disappointing end to what was a roller coaster season. The Dodgers would go on and sweep the Rays in the World Series to win their 2nd World Series Championship in 3 years.
The Cardinals did take some hardware home as Tommy Edman and Dylan Carlson won gold gloves. Julio Urias won both the NL Cy Young and NL MVP award.
The offseason will be a busy one for the Cardinals who have a lot of contract options and free agents this year. They also will have some key decisions to make on certain players as they fill out their organizational roster for the 2026 season.
But for now, its time for a look back on a season that started poorly, got turned around and saw the Cardinals become one of the best teams in baseball, to a disappointing end in the NLCS.
On to 2026 where the quest for #12 will continue.
