Re: MLB The Show 23 Franchise Mode Discussion

    Mets vs Marlins Opening Weekend

We opened up the season heading to Miami for a 4 games series

Game 1- Kodai Senga vs Sandy Alcantara
This game was wild from the start as neither pitcher had good stuff. Alcantara was wild and the Mets would jump on him in the 4th with a 2 run double by DJ Stewart followed by a 2 run single by Rafael Ortega and he would be gone from the game after 4. Senga was not much better as he only lasted 5 giving up two homeruns to Jazz Chisholm but he did leave with a lead 5-4. That would not last long as Phil Bickford (Who the Dodgers gave us for cash and I can see why) came in and gave up two home runs in one inning and we were down 7-5. We would rally in the top half inning with a solo homerun from Brett Baty and DJ Stewart who went 4 for 4 with a homerun and 2 doubles and 4 rbis to tie the game. Then in the 8th Pete Alonso would add a two run double. Mark Veintos would add a two run single to take 11-7 lead. The 9th would get dicey as Grant Hartwig would give up 2 runs and 4 hits before getting an out. Luckily Brooks Raley came in and got us out of the jam and we held on 11-9.

    Final Score Mets 11 - Marlins 9

Game 2- Jose Quintana vs Braxton Garrett
Both pitchers pitched really well. Jose Quintana would go 6 only allowing a solo homerun to Jake Burger, Garrett would throw 6 shutout innings. The Mets would get Quintana off the hook on a solo homerun by Francisco Alvarez to tie it 11 in the seventh. However in the bottom of the 8th with the bases loaded and two out Adam Kolarek (the other dodger pitcher we for cash, see a pattern here?) would have an 0-2 count on Luis Arreaz and he hit him and gave them a 2-1 lead. David Robertson would come in for the save and was a bit wild but was able to hold on and get the save

    Final Score Mets 1 - Marlins 2

Game 3- Tylor Megill vs Johnny Cueto
Not much to report here. Megill was awful giving up 3 runs on 7 hits in 4 innings. Grant Hartwig threw some batting practice and gave up 3 homeruns. Cueto was looking old school allowing only 1 run over 6 innings and the Marlins cruise to victory

    Final Score Mets 1 - Marlins 7

Game 4 David Peterson vs Jesus Luzardo
Peterson would wiggle his way through 5 only allowing 2 runs and striking out 10. Luzardo would be dominate going 5 and a third allowing no runs on 5 hits while striking out 5. Sadly for him his bullpen let him down. Down 2-0 in the 7th the Mets would get a huge two out two run homerun from Danny Mendick to tie the game at 2. That seemed to wake up the Mets as in the 8th Pete Alonso would demolish a ball 451 feet a 3 run shot for his first homer of the season. Then Brett Baty would hit a solo jack for his second homerun of the season and the Mets would take the final game and leave with a 2-2 split

    Final Score Mets 6 - Marlins 3

Next up for the Mets (2-2) they head to Milwaukee to take on the (1-2) Brewers

    Pitching Matchups

    Carrasco vs Houser
    Senga (0-0 7.20) vs Rea
    Quintana (0-0 1.50) vs Burnes (1-0 1.29)

    Around the League

Dodgers pitcher Tony Gosolin broke his arm and will miss several months. Clayton Kershaw who was down in spring was ready and his back up to take his spot

Yankees lost Johny Brito (Torn Labrum) and Tommy Kahnle (Shoulder Seperation)

Re: MLB The Show 23 Franchise Mode Discussion

Esteury Ruiz had a 19 game hitting streak ended for me today. He had really been struggling before that. He was only hitting .206/.249/.296 before the streak, and during the streak he hit .356/.364/.448. He also had 17 SB in those 19 games (after 26 in his first 73).

Ryan Noda is another guy really stepping up after the trade deadline, hitting .294/.400/.647 with 3 HR in his last 9 games after hitting just .195/.264/.294 with 2 HR in his first 47.

Tyler Soderstrom got his first taste of big league action, hitting .158/.200/.316 with a HR in 5 games while Shea Langeliers did a short stint on the IL. And then after Tony Kemp landed on the IL, Justyn-Henry Malloy is getting his first big league action. He's currently 1 for 8 with a single.

Nonetheless, I'm still just 9-18 since the break.

**** it, Ive decided to start over with my Mets franchise. I usually end up keeping my roster fairly close to real life the first year but I’m going to start building the team the way I want right from day 1. It sucks to lose the year of progress I made in my other franchise so I’m thinking about simming pitching except the 9th in save situations to save time since I have a pitching staff full of jabronis minus Diaz

Mets vs Brewers, April 3-5. Nimmo Lost For Season

The Mets went into Milwaukee for 3 games

Game 1- Carlos Carrasco (0-0) vs Adrian Houser (0-0)
Carrasco was surprisingly sharp throwing 6 innings of 2 hit ball and striking out 8. The Mets would get 3 solo shots from Mendick (2), Alonso (2) and Rafael Ortega (1). The bullpen would almost give it up but Adam Ottavino came in to save the day for his second save of the season and the Mets win the opener

          Final Score Mets 4 - Brewers 2

Side Note- Brandon Nimmo got hurt and is out for the season. For the time being Starling Marte will take over in CF while we wait to see if prized prospect Gilbert is ready at some point this season to join the show.

Game 2- Kodai Senga (0-0 7.20) vs Colin Rea (0-0)
At first it looked like the Mets were going to continue their winning ways as they jumped all over Rea in the first inning. Ronny Mauricio hit his first big league homerun and two batters later Daniel Vogelbach added a solo shot and after 1 inning it was 3-0 Mets. Sadly however after cruising threw 4 innings Senga would start to lose it in the 5th. He gave up a 2 run single to Carlos Santana in the 5th, a solo shot to Willy Adames in the 6th and once again had to settle for a no decision. The Mets would take the lead back briefly in the 7th but was a lost cause as in the 8th with the game tied once again at 4 the Brewers could get a clutch hit from Brice Turang off John Curtiss and would win the game

          Final Score Mets 4 - Brewers 5

          Game 3- Quintana (0-0 1.50) vs Burnes (1-0 1.29)
Once again the Mets got out fast on a 2 run homerun by Francisco Alvarez to take a 2-1 lead. Quintana was good again going 5 innings allowing only 2 runs. But the Pen once again would let the team down. 2-2 game in the 9th Drew Smith would give up a 2 run walk off homer to Christian Yelich and the Brewers would win and take the series

          Final Score Mets 2 - Brewers 4

Next up the Mets (3-4) head home to welcome the Marlins (4-3)

          Pitching Matchups
          Tylor Megill (0-1 6.75) vs Johnny Cueto (1-0 1.50)
          David Peterson (0-0 3.60) vs Jesus Luzardo (0-0 0.00)
          Carlos Carrasco (1-0 0.00) vs Edward Cabrera (0-0 1.50)

          Around the League

Injuries- Playing a major role early as Brandon Nimmo, Brendon Rodgers, Tony Gonsolin, Jhony Brito, Chris Bassitt all suffered big injuries. With Nimmo , Brito and Bassitt out for the season

Hot Steak- The Braves are 6-0 and the last unbeaten team.

Cold Streak- The Nationals and A's are both 0-6

Re: MLB The Show 23 Franchise Mode Discussion

SO I play both my 2022 opening day Nationals on MLB 22 and my MLB 23 franchises

On my 22 franchise with 30 team control (EVERYTHING for the nats- my profile- is set to manual) a week before the ASG the CPU optioned two players, DFA'd two players in minors, and moved countless guys around the organization. I was able to undo it but I do not understand why the CPU is going "rogue" when everything is set to manual (CPU Profile has total control of the other 29 teams).

            I have two questions
            1. Is there a fix for this
            2. Does the CPU go rogue like this on 23-- I'm 25 games into that season and hope they let me do my thing

              2024 Washington Nationals

Game One: Cade Cavalli vs Joe Musgrove
Brandon Drury had to leave the game in the top of the fifth with a finger injury. Jurickson Profar hit a solo home run in the bottom of the fifth to give the Padres a 1-0 lead, but Mitch Haniger would tie the game with a single in the sixth. San Diego would respond in the bottom of the sixth when Jake Cronenworth doubled in a run. The Nationals mounted a rally in the seventh, starting with an RBI base but from CJ Abrams and followed by a grand slam from Luis Garcia. Luis Campusano would hit a solo home run in the seventh and Jake Cronenworth would hit another in the ninth, but Washington would hold on for the win.

Cavalli and Musgrove both went 5.1 innings, and they both pitched well, but neither factored in the decision.

Brandon Drury has a bruised finger and will miss a few games.

Game Two: Felipe Escalona vs Yu Darvish
Escalona was strong through four innings, but would have to leave the game in the fifth after loading the bases with only one out. He would give up one run on four hits, three walks, one hit batter and five strikeouts. Zach Davies would come in from the bullpen and force Manny Machado to bounce into an inning ending double play. Keibert Ruiz tied the game in the sixth with an RBI double. Neither team would score until the tenth, and they would trade runs in both the tenth and eleventh innings. The Nationals finally got their key hit in the twelfth when Gleyber Torres hit a two run double, and Zach Warren would come out to try to get the save. Juan Soto would drive in a run to start the inning. The Nationals bullpen was wearing thin by this point, but Warren would only get two outs as Gleyber Torres, playing at first, dropped what would have been the second out of a game-ending double play. Luis Camposano then reached base on an infield single, and the Nationals would turn to a tired Trevor Rosenthal to try to get the final out. He would throw a wild pitch, putting runners on second and third, but Trent Grisham would strikeout to end the ball game after battling to get a full count. An impressive win for Washignton, as they battled all game long, despite striking out 15 times, and they won the game without relying on the long ball.

Game Three: MacKenzie Gore vs Alex Young
The plan going into this game was for Stephen Strasburg to start and for MacKenzie Gore to come out of the ‘pen as a long reliever. Washington has been going with a six man rotation for over a week now, combined with the fact that the bullpen is absolutely gassed. Washington is trying to figure out which of their starters will either be sent to the bullpen OR be sent down to AAA. Unfortunately, the two pitchers struggling the most as of late have been Strasburg and Lucas Giolito, two veterans that were supposed to be the key members of the rotation. In addition to these struggles, Strasburg had a nagging shoulder during warmups today, preventing him from starting.

MacKenzie Gore struggled through five innings, giving up six runs on ten hits, walking two and striking out four. His saving grace was the Nationals offense, which rallied back in the fourth and fifth innings to tie the game at six. The Nationals were using the home run ball again; Brandon Drury had two home runs and Mitch Haniger added his seventeenth of the year (leading the majors). Andrew Vaughn tied the game with a two run double, continuing his solid start to the season. Hunter Harvey provided two innings of relief from the bullpen, and Brandon Drury hit his third home run of the game to put Washington up 7-6 in the eighth. Carl Edwards Jr pitched the bottom of the eighth and Trevor Rosenthal came on in the ninth, needing just eight pitches to retire the side and earn the save. The Padres really helped the Nationals’ bullpen with a very aggressive approach late in the game. The only reliever that was really rested was Harvey, but the Padres failed to take advantage of that and the Nationals earn the sweep.

In all honesty, it’s an odd sweep, as the pitching was rough and the Nationals offense struggled often; racking up strikeouts in the second and third games of the series. But all that matters is the final score, and Washington has now moved back to the .500 mark at 19-19. They will get a much needed off day after playing sixteen straight games. Their next series will be against the Cubs, who have the worst record in baseball at 11-27.

Pirates looking to wrap up the NL Central

The Pittsburgh Pirates only needed to win their last game against the Cincinnati Reds to wrap up the division and get a chance to possibly rest some players headed into the playoffs. Roansy Contreras was great too as he has been all season. But as great as Contreras has been, he has not received a lot of run support as the team averages just 3 runs in his thirty-two starts on the season.

That was no different in the third game of the Cincy series. contreras pitched a 'complete game' and allowed just one run. Unfortunately, Pittsburgh was shutout Lucas Giolito and his bullpen mates as that one run won the game and series for the Reds.

The Pirates have had two high run games thus far in the road trip. Those game in back to back games with the last versus the Cubs and first against the Reds. In those games, the Pirates scored a combined 20 runs while they hit seven homeruns. Mccutchen had his first two home runs since coming off the IL vs. the Cubs and Miguel Andujar had two of his own in that first game against the Reds.

The Pirates will continue to try to clinch the division as they travel to Philadelphia to take on the Phillies (88-68 (2nd NL East) as they continue to try to catch up to the Mets and/or hang onto their NL Wildcard slot.

                  I'm in a dilemma.

I am entering June with a 43-16 record and just realized that somehow, someway, my settings got changed and I've been playing on All-Star. I noticed the game "felt" different while playing, but being 4th season in I didn't think much about it as I just figured I had put togther a hell of a team. Well, turns out I'm not that great of a GM and my record is a farce.

I don't know what to do. I don't want to restart the season because well, things have happened that I don't want to erase. I don't want to sim because I hate that thought. But I also don't want to just pick up and play because, well everything feels tainted.

I wish I knew how this happened. My son plays from time to time, but this has never been an issue before.

                  Really just stuck
I can't shave with my eyes closed, meaning each day I have to look at myself in the mirror and respect who I see.

I miss the old days of Operation Sports :(

Just keep going from where you are.

Change the settings back to what you normally play on, and chalk it up to a really hot start.

Option 1, just pick up from this point with your setting back to normal and pretend your team had a real hot streak. Still a lot of season left. If you are really not wanting to start over then this is the way.

Option 2, do whatever makes you happy. I ditched my Guardians franchise early because I felt it was too easy and I really like the story lines of a true rebuild. It felt bad starting over at first but ultimately it made me enjoy the game more.

Option 3, simming. THIS shouldn't be an option.

I would just pick it up with the settings you had before. Once you get to the playoffs nothing that took place in the regular season matters so it shouldn’t feel tainted. If you want to try and balance things out, manually injure some of your better players for a month or two to try and make up for the time you were playing on the easier difficulty

I think the best thing to do is to keep going forward. It's baseball, crazy things happen! I mean look at how the Rays started thet season, and I still remember when the Indians won 22 games in a row...stuff like that can happen in real life, so maybe it happened to your franchise team too!

Are there made up prospects in the free agency pool on the SCEA rosters? There are a bunch of intriguing guys age 18-22 that I see sitting out there that don’t seem to be real players

Yes but believe so. Also if not mistaken the developers are in the free agent pool as well

I can't shave with my eyes closed, meaning each day I have to look at myself in the mirror and respect who I see.

I miss the old days of Operation Sports :(

Definitely, yes. Some really good ones, too.

To be fair in my franchise, I spread those guys out around the league to the worst teams and take one or two max for myself at the start of my rebuild.
