Re: MLB The Show 23 Franchise Mode Discussion
Just thought I’d share this. Down 6-2 in the bottom of the 9th Seiya Suzuki hit an rbi double to make it 6-3. Swanson would tie the game on a 3 run homer. I give up 3 runs in the 10th. I get the bases loaded in the bottom half with no out and misread what I thought was gonna be a bloop hit but the brewers CF caught and recoded a triple play to end the game.
Brutal loss.Comment

Re: MLB The Show 23 Franchise Mode Discussion
2024 Washington Nationals
Washington Nationals (10-9) vs Philadelphia Phillies (13-7)
Game One: Cade Cavalli vs Zach Wheeler
Cavalli pitched his best game of the year, going six innings and giving up a run on seven hits, no walks and five strikeouts. The Nationals offense, or lack thereof, cost them this game. They mustered three hits and only scored one run, via a solo home run from Anthony Rizzo. Rizzo would end up factoring in the loss as well, as he botched a play at first in the bottom of the ninth that allowed the winning run to score from second. Not a good game for the Nationals, but one other positive was a flawless two innings of relief from Zach Davies, who has also been struggling so far.
Game Two: Stephen Strasburg vs Ranger Suarez
This game played out similarly to yesterday's game. The Nationals took an early lead when Brandon Drury hit a solo home run, and Stephen Strasburg went five hitless innings before starting the sixth with a walk, followed an infield single on a sacrifice bunt attempt by Matt Vierling, RBI singles from Jean Segura and Alec Bohm, and a sacrifice fly from Bryce Harper. Zach Davies would enter in the seventh and give up another run following back to back doubles from Matt Beaty and Brandon Marsh, and the Phillies take a 4-1 victory.
After the game it was announced that Brady House would be sent back to AAA. In 18 games he was batting .194/.206/.284 with a home run and four RBI. He had just one walk and 15 strikeouts, and could not turn things around even after being moved to the number nine spot in the batting order. The Nationals have recalled CJ Abrams to take his place.
Game Three: MacKenzie Gore vs Martin Perez
The Nationals scored all six of their runs via the home run: two by Anthony Rizzo (three run home run in the first and a two run home run in the third; both second deck shots) and Victor Robles added a solo home run in the seventh. JT Realmuto hit a solo home run in the fifth and Hernan Perez hit another in the sixth, and Philly’s final run would come off of Victor Arano (just first run given up this year) via a sac fly from Alec Bohm. Trevor Rosenthal would earn the save, his fifth of the year.
The Nationals wanted to add more power to their offense this season, and they are definitely getting it. However, the offense has become one dimensional, and if guys aren’t hitting the long ball they are just getting easy outs. The pitching is improving, but the major concerns remain. Thankfully, there are plenty of young players in the minors and if this season is a wash, the Nationals can (hopefully) avoid another full rebuild.
Washington (11-11) will now have an off day before flying to Queens to take on the Mets (13-10) for the first time in 2024.Cleveland Guardians - MLB The Show 25

Redbird Report - Cardinals head into August with 12 game lead in the Division
The Cardinals (64-48) finished the month of July with a 16-10 record and propelled themselves to a comfortable 12 game lead heading into the regular season's final two months. The Cardinals didn't necessarily play that great, but the rest of the division played extremely poorly. The Cardinals are the only team currently over .500.
Paul Goldschmidt, Nolan Arenado and Nolan Gorman were the catalysts at the plate for the month, although Gorman would end the month on the IL with a strained pectoral. He's expected to return the first week of August. Both Goldschmidt and Arenado ended the month on 10+ game hitting streaks and Nolan Gorman wound up injured whilst on a 3 game homerun streak.
Pitching was solid as well as the bullpen held down games at a better clip with only one blown save over the month. Julio Urias continues to put up Cy Young numbers ending the month leading the National League in wins, ERA, and strikeouts. Ryan Helsley has now saved 4 straight games, and Jordan Hicks who has struggled this year didn't allow an earned run over the month.
The Cardinals will head into the final two months with the comfortable 12 game lead and are currently neck in neck with the Braves and Padres for the best record in the National League. It seems the Cardinals are finally living up to the hype that surrounded this team coming into the season after last year's run to the World Series.I can't shave with my eyes closed, meaning each day I have to look at myself in the mirror and respect who I see.
I miss the old days of Operation Sports :(

Sept 26-28: FLAGSTAFF (86-73) @ COLORADO SPRINGS (80-79)
Stadium: Security Services Field (Capacity: 13,587)
September 26: Snow Sox 7, Hops 3
September 27: Snow Sox 4, Hops 1
September 28: Snow Sox 6, Hops 4
Colorado Springs, CO (AP) - The reeling Flagstaff Hops were swept in Colorado Springs and now lead the ML West by just one game with only three games left in the 2023 season. The dagger was Thursday afternoon, blowing a 4-0 lead in the eighth and losing 6-4 to run their losing streak to four games. The Snow Sox won the season series (14-5).
In the opener, Juan Primo homered three times and the Snow Sox defeated the Hops 7-3. Primo went 3 for 4 with three solo home runs to help Colorado Springs to a win in the opener of a very important series for Flagstaff.
Roberto Geronimo opened the scoring in the top of the second with a solo home run to left. It was his 19th on the season. But the Snow Sox would get two of their own in the bottom half to take a 2-1 lead on RBI singles from Stone and Donnie Samuels.
The Snow Sox would increase that lead to 4-1 in the third as Juan Primo hit his first home run, and James Dudeck added a solo shot, his ninth. Primo would hit his second home run of the game in the fifth, off of Ryan Pressley to make it 5-1. Primo would hit his third home run of the game, and 26th on the season, in the seventh off of Russell Fluty to make it 6-1.
The Hops would get a mini rally going in the eighth on a two-out, two-run double by Emmitt Hampton. But Hampton would be thrown out at the plate to end the inning on a Roberto Geronimo single.
Ryan Pressley (14-11) was not good in this one. He only went 4 1/3 innings, allowing five runs on ten hits. Mike Stoneridge (12-11) picked up the win for the Snow Sox. He worked 7 2/3 innings, allowing three runs on seven hits, while striking out seven.
On Wednesday evening the Snow Sox used the long ball to take out the Hops 4-1. Brian Chin (11-9) tossed seven solid innings, allowing one run on six hits while striking out five to help get the Snow Sox back to .500.
Flagstaff grabbed a 1-0 lead in the fourth on Robbie Westbrook’s 35th home run on the season. The solo shot put Flagstaff up 1-0.
But the Snow Sox would get that back in the fifth inning on a Silva two-out RBI double.
Colorado Springs would take the lead in the sixth on a Robby Blair two-run home run on the first pitch that reliever Aldo Osuna threw. They would add another run in the eighth on a Todd Austin home run to make it 4-1.
Juro Yamaguchi (9-14) took the loss, allowing two run son four hits in five plus innings of work.
Flagstaff’s offensive woes have been a problem since early July and they may be the reason if this team fails to make the postseason. They have a 1 1/2 game lead on Salt Lake and a 2 1/2 game lead on Rio Rancho for the second Wild Card position.
In Thursday’s finale, the Hops blew a 4-0 lead in the eighth and lost 6-4. The sweep leaves the Hops once huge lead in the ML West down to just one game with three games left in the season.
Flagstaff would jump out to a 3-0 lead in the second thanks to a two-run home run from Forrest Owen, his 21st. They would increase that lead to 4-0 in the third on a Josh Ortega sacrifice fly.
Alex Farmer was magnificent, allowing just one hit through seven innings, and a controversial one at that, as Todd Austin reached on an infield hit in the fifth on a play that looked like an error by Robbie Westbrook.
But the Hops went to their bullpen in the eighth and it turned into an unmitigated disaster. Oliver Benedict came on and gave up a single to Jamie Case to open the inning. He then struck out Todd Austin. James Dudeck grounded to Robbie Westbrook, who should have just taken the out at first, but tried for the double play and ended up getting no one out. Arthur Stone singled to right, scoring case to get the Snow Sox on the board.
The Hops turned to normally reliable Pedro Macias to try and get then out of the jam. His first pitch was blasted over the wall in right by Roberto Silva to tie the game at 4-4. It was his third home run on the season. Donnie Samuels then tripled and scored on a Robbie Blair single to put the Snow Sox up 5-4. Donnell Marcus singled to center to end Macias’ afternoon. Samuel Espinoza came on and Juan Primo hit a sacrifice fly to make it 6-4. In all, ten men came to the plate and six scored as Colorado Springs turned a 4-0 deficit into a 6-4 lead.
Jeff Cabrera came in and was able to pick up the save, his 40th in 40 attempts to secure the series sweep for the Snow Sox.
Manager Matt Blake afterwards, “I should have stuck with Alex, but I have been burned by doing that so I went to the bullpen. I am confident that we will bounce back and get this thing to the garage.”
The Hops (86-73) will now return home to end the regular season against last place Prescott (76-83). Salt Lake (85-74) will travel to St George (78-81), while Rio Rancho (84-75) will close out the season at Albuquerque (54-105).
Around the League: A Sam Morgan RBI double in the top of the ninth sent San Antonio onto a 2-1 victory over Austin in the opener of a huge three-game ML East series. The Javelinas moved to within two games of the Fire Frogs with the victory.
A Mike Anderson RBI triple in the top of the ninth scored Stanton Brickman with the game’s lone run as Chandler defeated Salt River 1-0 to remain two games up on Gilbert in the race for the DL East title.
Salt Lake kept their playoff hopes alive with a 9-4 victory over Long Beach. Rafael Geronimo homered twice to help pull the Chukars into a tie with Rio Rancho for the second ML Wild Card spot. Meanwhile, a Phil Riebow RBI double in the bottom of the ninth help the Owlz to a walk-off 6-5 victory over El Paso.
Ron Sposato tossed a complete game one-hitter as Santa Fe defeated Albuquerque 7-0 to keep their division title hopes alive. Sposato (18-7) allowed one hit while striking out ten and walking three in the Silver Bullets win that clinched a playoff berth.
Salt Lake came through with singles runs in the eighth and ninth to rally past Long Beach 4-3 and keep their ML West title hopes alive. Sergio Pinto’s RBI double in the top of the ninth proved to be the winner for the Chukars. Tanana (14-2) picked up the win out of the bullpen, tossing three hitless innings.
San Antonio defeated Austin 13-2, taking two of three from the Fire Frogs, and keeping their faint playoff hopes alive. The Javelinas will host last-place Amarillo to close out the season, while Austin will host Fort Worth.
Blake Pacinelli hit two home runs and drove in six as Roswell rallied to defeat Fort Worth 14-13 in 11 innings.
Henderson clinched the DL West despite an 8-3 loss to San Diego, as Las Vegas lost 8-5 at home to Yuma. The Nuggets will need a miracle to return to the playoffs as they are three games back of a Wild Card spot.

Re: MLB The Show 23 Franchise Mode Discussion
I'm in year 2 of my legends based Cubs franchise. I went 97-65 in year 1 but got knocked out by the Cardinals in the playoffs. Year 1 Sandberg was my standout. Finished with a .301/.373/.542 slash with 120 runs, 39 HRs, 110 Rbis and 36 steals. Also brought home a gold glove. Dawson finished with a .235 ave with 23 HRs and 95 rbis. Sosa was at .247 with 38 Hrs and 115 Rbis. On the pitching side Kerry Wood won the Cy Young with a 21-7 record, 2.55 era and had 297 K's. Maddux was 17-9 with a 3.89 era.
Currently in year 2, I'm sitting in first place with a 51-37 record and a 1.5 game lead over the Cardinals and Pirates. Sandberg has been kinda struggling in year 2. Slash is .236/.355/.404 with 56 runs, 11 HRs, 46 Rbi's and 32 steals. Dawson is having a nice year sitting at .285 with 22 Hrs and 66 Rbis. Sosa missed 35 games with a forearm fracture. He is currently at .227 with 10 Hrs and 30 Rbis. Pitching is carrying the day as Wood is currently at 11-1 with a 2.82 era and Maddux is 11-2 with a 2.25 era.
I suspect Sandberg is gonna heat up and get that ave in the .280+ range and be knocking on 30 homeruns. It just been a weird year...was sitting at .175 going into May and just hasnt had that crazy 2 week stretch yet. He's rated too high to be performing where he is right now. I have rated him more in line with his 1989-1992 prime.Comment

Watch me blow a perfect game and a no hitter in the 9th inning [emoji24][emoji24] Detroit tigers realistic rebuild with custom rosters. Year 2. Pitcher Casey Mize.
Disclaimer: I was batting on veteran for most of the game until about the 7th inning. Then switched up to all star. Pitching always on HoF. This is probably the best performance I’ve ever done on the show ever.

Re: MLB The Show 23 Franchise Mode Discussion
Chicago White Sox Franchise: 2023 World Series Game Four Vs New York Mets
Series: Mets 3-0
This has been a very frustrating series for Chicago thus far, having lost Game One by one run in the 12th inning, Game Two by one run, and then getting bullied 11-5 in Game Three to fall behind 3-0 in the series. It would make sense for the team to rollover against a New York club that just seemed to have their number.
That is not what happened.
The offense got the party started immediately in the bottom of the first, as Tim Anderson would crank a double before Eloy Jimenez would take one deep. Not to be outdone, Luis Robert, who has been very bad through three games in the series, peppered a homer to make it back-to-back dingers and an early 3-0 lead against Tylor Megill, who was making his first first start of the postseason.
Gavin Sheets would knock in Seby Zavala in the bottom of the second, while Oscar Colas would chase Megill out of the game in the bottom of the third with a double to knock in Jimenez. Carlos Carrasco would replace Megill, and wouldn’t fare much better. Colas would meet Carrasco in the bottom of the fifth and take him deep for a three run homer, knocking in Andrew Benintendi and Jimenez again.
Carrasco would get replaced by Joey Lucchesi, who would also get punished by the White Sox. Anderson would knock in Elvis Andrus in the bottom of the sixth with a double, his second of the game, Robert would crush his second homer of the day the following inning.
Jimenez would double in Anderson in the bottom of the eighth, and Robert would mash his third home run of the game, scoring the White Sox’s last run: their 13th of the day.
Michael Kopech was the beneficiary of the outstanding offensive performance, and did his part with an impressive six inning performance, giving up one run while scattering eight hits and a walk, striking out four. Davis Martin came in and threw the last three innings, giving up one base runner.
A 13-1 game shows the type of big games that the White Sox have produced multiple times this series. One of the best power teams in the league produced five total homers and seven doubles. Kopech and Martin did an excellent job of keeping the ball down, neither missing spots much and keeping the ball out of the air.
Up next, the White Sox will get their last home game of the series and the season no matter what, now trailing 3-1 in the series but riding high after a potentially series shaking Game Four performance.

Pirates drop series to lowly Nationals, 3-1
The Pittsburgh Pirates came into their series with the nationals looking for a sweep and to all but lock up their NL Central division. But Washington was having none of that as they took the series three games to one.
Pittsburgh did welcome back Andrew McCutchen who looked good in his two games back despite going just 1-7 at the plate. He had some hard hit balls that just didnt fall his way.
In the Pirates one win, Roansy Contreras hit his milestone of 200 K's on the year but did not get the win as the team waited until after he was pulled due to fatigue to score their 5 runs in the 6th inning.
Contreras is not currently thought of as a CY young canidate despite him being second in strikeouts in the NL and ahead of the current favorite Spencer Strider in ERA (2.92 to 3.18). That likely goes to show that the league still favors wins and losses as Strider is leading that race (14-5 to 12-12).
Unfortunately for the Pirates, the road does not get easier as they try to wrap up the division. They now head into their second to last home series of the season as they will face off against the AL East leading New York Yankees whose 93-54 record has them as the only team thus far who has clinched a playoff birth.
Luis Severino (12-7 2.48 ERA) and Rich Hill (10-8, 3.30 ERA) are the expected starters for the first game of the series.Comment

Re: MLB The Show 23 Franchise Mode Discussion
Started an A’s franchise and drafted an 80 overall 99 potential SS Hubert Shealy with the 6th overall pick. There was another generational prospect 99 OVR who the Tigers drafted. The guy Detroit drafted hit 35 home runs his rookie year. I simmed one more season and let Shealy develop in AAA he hit .330 and shot up to an 85 overall. didn’t have that great of a draft but went hard in free agency. Signed Juan Soto. Soroka. Gleybor Torres. I called up Soderstrom along with Shealy for the 2025 season. They both had 3 hits. Soderstrom had a homer and double. My pitching staff is pretty weak besides Soroka but we have some good prospects.
Won opening day 9-6 over Miami. Alcantara for the marlins got hurt in the 3rd inning.Comment

Re: MLB The Show 23 Franchise Mode Discussion
Chicago White Sox Franchise: 2023 World Series Game Five Vs New York Mets
Series: Mets 3-1
Baseball can be weird.
The White Sox seemed on their way to being swept by the Mets through the first three games of the series, then rebounded with an emphatic 13-1 win in Game Four. The team hit for power, hit for average, pitched a gem, and had the defense to back it up.
Then it got off to an amazing start in Game Five, as Andrew Benintendi got the night started with a majestic blast to right off of José Quintana to put the White Sox up 1-0.
Seby Zavala, getting a start for a banged up Yasmani Grandal, would join him as a depositor to the bleachers in the third with a solo shot of his own. In the fourth, Luis Robert would lead the inning off with a triple to center field. Oscar Colas would knock him in, giving Chicago an early 3-0 lead.
Robert would get his time to make his mark in the fifth, as his massive home run to left in that inning put the White Sox on cruise control and knocked Quintana out of the game mercifully for New York fans, with New York trailing 6-0. This was Robert’s fourth homer in two games.
During this stretch, Mike Clevinger was dealing. Clevinger, who got shelled in Game One and only threw 3.1 innings that game, was riding a no hitter through five in this one. Mark Canha would break that up with a single in the sixth, but Clevinger would get through the inning unscathed.
Remember, baseball is weird.
Having dominated through six innings, Clevinger went back out in the seventh looking to throw one more before giving way to the bullpen. Luis Guillorme would start off the inning with a single. After a Pete Alonso fly out, things seem to be going back in Clevinger’s favor. But Francisco Lindor and Eduardo Escobar singled back to back to knock in Guillermo, putting the Mets on the board but still trailing 6-1. Brandon Nimmo would catch a changeup down the middle and drive it into center field for a home run, now making the game 6-4. With all of the momentum and the great performance gone, Clevinger was taken out for Garrett Crochet.
The hard throwing lefty would give up a single to Brett Baty right out of the gate. After working a 1-2 count on Canha, Crochet tried to get a fastball by Canha up and in, but left it over the plate and Canha tied the game with a massive homer. Score now 6-6.
Crochet would come back out after a scoreless bottom of the seventh, and get Guillermo to fly out before ceding to Yency Almonte. Almonte would mow down Alonso and Lindor in short order. The White Sox would again go scoreless as we headed into the ninth inning tied 6-6.
Almonte would strike out Escobar to start the top of the ninth. After walking Nimmo on the 11th pitch of the at bat, Liam Hendriks began warming up in the pen just in case. Almonte responded with the pitch of the season, a devastating slider that Baty rolled over for a double play. Chicago had their chance at a walk off.
Zavala would pop up to start the ninth before Tim Anderson reached on a single, his first hit of the game. Benintendi would then line a single up the middle to put two on for Eloy Jimenez. Jimenez would get a fastball on a 1-1 count and…… walk it off with a moonshot to left!!
Baseball really is weird, as the ebbs and flows of this game led to a massive momentum shift, and what had to be a feeling of disbelief after allowing the Mets to tie the game in the seventh after dominating. But Chicago showed their resilience by battling through the rough inning and officially sending the World Series back to New York for Game Six.
Up next is that Game Six, as Chicago travels back to New York to take on the Mets. Down 3-2 now in the series, the next game is always the biggest game of the season, and the White Sox are hoping to get this series to the biggest game possible for the 2023 season: Game Seven.
