Re: Too many strikeouts
I'm about 35 games or so into my 1st season on franchise and I have struck out 130 more batters than the next highest team. I'm at like 450 total right now. It's definitely a little bit of a problem. I've upped contact to 6 and may bump it to 7. This is on legend+ with meter pitching. Also, using the Cardinals which outside of Flaherty, really don't have any high strikeout starters. Mikolas is striking out 11 per 9 which isn't realistic. The high inside fastball is almost untouchable by the CPU this year.
As far as my own strikeouts, I've been striking out a lot but I usually do early on till I get timing down. I'm not leading the league though so I'm fine where that is at currently. I have used contact swing more this year than I have in the past.Comment

Re: Too many strikeouts
The problem I'm seeing is CPU hitters are swinging at pitches way outside the zone, as they always have. But before they'd make contact and foul them off. Now they're missing them causing a stupid number of strike outs. Being able to seemingly strike someone out at will just isn't fun to me. It's really putting a damper on my fun with this years game to be honest. If it weren't for the strike outs this game would be perfect for me.Comment

Re: Too many strikeouts
I'm hopping along on AS default with no issues (classic/directional, full clean screen, no vibration). But until I get through at least 2-4 seasons or so of sample size (or ~400 to 600 games), I am not going to draw any conclusions. As players develop within the the franchise, a lot of things begin to re-stabilize as the mode's mechanics begin to re-shape the league, which is why the multi-season sample size is critical. The first season outcomes are always going to be the least reliable in evaluating the overall cohesiveness of the gameplay.Play the games you love, not the games you want to love.Comment

Re: Too many strikeouts
I feel like I am striking the CPU out a lot using the Mets pitchers and I am playing on Legend. I really dont get it this year. I use to play on hall of fame and it was a challenge. Now I am dominating on Legend and I am concerned if the game has become too easy which makes me not enjoy it as much
Strikesout i am averaging about 12 per game and I am striking out 10 times per gameComment

Re: Too many strikeouts
Definitely a big problem this year. I just struck out the Angels 18 times with the Orioles. Then struck out the Dbacks 17 with Oakland. The K/9 rating doesn't seem to mean anything this year.
This is with cpu timing at max 10 and their contact at 8 to attempt to lower the Ks. While Sony made the game better in some areas. There are a few things they had perfect already and didn't need to touch. The cpu swing and miss rate was pne of those things. I'd rather have to mess with sliders to get more Ks like the last two years. This year I'm trying to lower them and it's not happening. Really hope they patch fix this cause it's not fun knowing I can get 10+ Ks every game without much effort.

It could be because the game is changing in favor of power pitching and guys looking for the long ball more, so maybe they're trying to relay that in game somehow? Go back and look at the K/9 stats for guys in the 90's and early 2000's compared to today. You had your Randy Johnson's and Roger Clemen's and the like, but now so many guys average 11+ K's per 9 so I think they are trying to make the game emulate the change in mentality/approach. Could be wrong, but that's my .02 cents. I felt the same way about hitting and the increase of power/HR's.
Edit: Since I still play 20 a lot and have bounced back and forth from 20 to 23 lately I have also noticed that umps call a lot more close pitches strikes than before as well, which likely contributes when mixed with the less effective check swings. Granted they are better in 23 than the past two games, but that's a low bar to go off of in that category.I post the frog

Re: Too many strikeouts
I think they changed it b/c everyone was complaining about the long at bats with foul balls. I play on Legend, but my issue with K's is how many times the computer is going down looking and I really am unsure of what slider to mess with to fix that one. The one slider I have turned up for the computer is the Timing Slider hopefully it makes them more of a threat consistently.

Yep. This is ridiculous. I was playing st louis in my franchise. I was up one run in bottom of the 9th. Bases loaded, 1 out with Goldschmidt and Arrendondo coming up. Both take fastballs right down the middle for backwards K to end the game. Very ridiculous and the kind of thing that will make me lose interest quickComment

Re: Too many strikeouts
I’m using pinpoint with control at 0 and consistency at 2 or 3 and it’s been good. I find the cpu actually punished mistakes this year on a more consistent basisComment

Re: Too many strikeouts
I use HoF for pitching and I'm seeing a few too many myself. I feel like I may adjust the CPU contact slider and play a few games to test it out.Comment

Re: Too many strikeouts
5 (1 walk)
10 (3 walks)
I’m just not understanding striking out the CPU 17, 18 times.
AS, sliders set at DEFAULTComment
