The second paragraph is outdated as of last year I believe since the game doesn't subtract a pitch in QC anymore (which is the reason for inflated looking pitch counts). and while I cannot verify it I believe the last two sentences are outdated as well - such that it seems like QC now always uses the "sim engine" fatigue system rather than draining more for every pitch actually thrown by the player.

So, don't just go blindly by what the guide says anymore since part of it is obsolete and just hasn't been updated, but the constant stream of complaints about increased K's from those who use QC would seem to indicate that the first paragraph is still very much valid.

This isn't a new thing either - from everything I've read on OS over the past several years, the QC crowd tends to fight strikeouts (and walks - two sides of the same coin depending on whether a pitcher is effective or not) more than any other part of game balance. That's why I feel like overcompensating with the contact slider when QC is involved isn't a bad play.
Thanks for the info. I think parts of the first paragraph is outdated as well. I been using quick counts since MLB 20 and I believe in 21, you don’t get anymore 3-0 or 0-2 counts. You only get 1-2 and 3-1 counts as the extremes.

Very interesting about the “bonus” for balls put in play. But by our experience, that could have been removed some time ago as well.

Revisiting this since I want running into this before and am now contradicting myself. So I admittedly hadn’t played much offline/franchise this year, but when I did, it didn’t seem like the strikeouts were that high. But I started up a franchise for fun and simmed a few years in and I’d say the issue I’m having is more CPU contact in general. I’m getting Ks at a fairly high clip (8-14 per game), but I’ve given up 0 runs and a combined 7 hits in my first 3 games.

It’s a small sample size and it has been my aces throwing (85+ OVR), but I’ve thrown some meatballs and was not penalized for any of them. I’m not using quick counts either.

I’ll have to tinker with the solid hits and contact sliders, but so far I’d say CPU contact can definitely be improved, especially on missed locations. Didn’t seem to have the same issues last year and while I had a solid ERA and K amount, I was still giving up hits and runs even with my top pitchers.
