SAME. While the names have been entertaining, I'm a little tired of having my top 5 pick be a Blue Chip CP or a "Blue Chip" SP who is 7 years away from MLB or, worse, a 3B who is only a Blue Chip because he has great speed and bunting ability

Re: Did the draft improvements make up for lack of franchise improvements?
I was looking at my draft picks for something today, and realized that the there weren't any relievers taken in my draft until the Competitive Balance Round. Certainly not in the top 10 (which was 3 SP, 3 1B, 1 3B, 1 SS, and 1 CF).
Weird that you guys are getting a bunch of relievers and I'm not. Maybe it was just a fluke for me

Re: Did the draft improvements make up for lack of franchise improvements?
One thing I’d really like to see in regards to a revamp in training is allowing training at specific positions. So if you have a SS that maybe doesn’t have range for the position but has a great arm, you can train them at an OF position. Or an older player that is slowing down, you can move them to 1B after you’ve trained them there. And the more they train at the position, it can become their primary position and the less they train in their old primary position, eventually they could lose it.
It will help with drafted players that you may want to move around at a young age and adds something more fun than just editing the players position.Comment

Re: Did the draft improvements make up for lack of franchise improvements?
That last sentence is the part of franchise that has always frustrated me, because progression is just not great in the minors.. I'll give an example, I'm running an A's chise an a 62 ovr 24yr old had a good season and improved his potential from a C to B, so you'd think that maybe his current ovr would take a large jump to say high 60s or even into the low 70s since his potential is now in the 80s but he only improved 2 points so now all I really have is a trade chip I can use against the CPU and their ridiculous trade logic lol, it's not a game breaker for me but 10 years into a franchise (if you make it that far) you start to notice a bunch of high potential low ovr players in the majors because the draft classes and minor league progression isn't that goodComment

Re: Did the draft improvements make up for lack of franchise improvements?
I'm starting year 5 (2027) and its cool looking back at the draft classes and where players end up and how quickly they make it to the big leagues.
The Nationals have a young first baseman Joe Oakley that I passed on drafting to take a catcher 3 draft classes ago. Joe Oakley is the everyday first baseman for the Nats and is coming off winning NL Rookie of the Year this past season. My catcher, Andres Ruiz, is still stuck in AA progressing slower than I had anticipated.
I'm hoping for some improvements/changes to the whole draft/scouting experience (don't lock me out a week at a time..LOL), but overall the "overhaul" has been a welcomed addition as the draft day experience is well done, the bonus pool cat and mouse game so to speak is well done, and the classes themselves are varied enough to make each year its own experience.I can't shave with my eyes closed, meaning each day I have to look at myself in the mirror and respect who I see.
I miss the old days of Operation Sports :(

Re: Did the draft improvements make up for lack of franchise improvements?
Full disclosure I play all the games in my franchise and have only participated in 2 drafts. I've had the best draft of any team and none of the players I drafted are remotely close to being anything other than MLB bench players some years down the road. The draft if anything is harder to navigate than in the past because the previous version was sortable based upon attributes and the biggest problem with the game - progression - is still the same and therefore does not match what the scouting report says.≡Comment

I bolster my team via free agency, so the draft was never going to move my needle. Here's hoping there are other cool little franchise additions in 24, come March.T-BONE.

Did the draft improvements make up for lack of franchise improvements?
Getting caught up on this thread.
I am looking forward to experiencing the new scouting and draft.
Better late than never.
I am a hardcore play every pitch every inning....I also am a hardcore 30 team control house rules guy like many of you know to overcome some of the shortcomings of the mode.
But like JoshC1977 said the real magic of franchise mode is playing the game itself. I am not a restarter nor constant slider tinker dude. Once I lock in I never ever look back.
There are many valid points about what could use improvement and what new additions would be highly welcomed.
I think we all agree that expanded rosters is long long overdue and coupled with a revamped Progression and regression system (I have distinct house rules to address the 26 man rosters year to year) would go a long long way to making this mode better than it already is.
I happen to think it along with NBA2K are the best franchises modes on the AAA sports game market.
Customizable coaches would also be highly welcomed! Customized draft classes could be amazing if possible.
So there is absolutely room for improvement.
But for me personally the magic is in my season to season storylines that are harbored and created inside the actual season and playing every game.
But that's me.
Glad I am finally playing MLB 23 and will be till at least this time next year unless......unless 24 makes big strides in Franchise like we are talking about.
Gameplay on 23 is really nice. I don't regret sitting out most of the cycle because my long running Yankees franchise that started way back on MLB17 has brought me immense joy in my sports gaming life. Easily my favorite franchise I ever played on any sports video game.
But onto a new Yankees chapter on MLB 23.
Happy gaming everyone.
