I’m fairly disappointed for reasons I plead the 5th to
    MLB New York Yankees
    NFL New York Giants
    NBA Brooklyn Nets
    NHL New Jersey Devils
    EPL Manchester United
    NCAA FB Pittsburgh Panthers
    NCAA BB Pittsburgh Panthers

Oh there are more than one. They will be revealed once more images are released that garner discussion. And why should that be a trade off? A consumer stating their opinion of the game is not equivalent to someone giving their opinion about that consumer’s opinion.

Ok….then point them out so we can continue with some objective discussions.

Just wait until a trailer releases and people start criticizing the graphics in a busier thread.

Looks like MLB The Show 23,22, or 21 perhaps.

Heck it might be 20 or 19

Definitely not Switch version but no clue if its PS4 or sadly PS5 version!

That’s current gen. All game developers use current gen for screenshots and promo videos. Safe to say graphics are not a priority for them. Like at all lol

Yeah it would make absolutely zero sense to use the last gen version for promotional materials

Playing the remakes of RE4 and Demon’s Souls today, I think “graphics” proper are pretty stagnant on the whole. DeS in particular, I might find the graphics spectacular (I do), but it’s nothing truly “groundbreaking” or whatever. It’s more that it’s just an extremely clean image with excellent lighting.

Sports game in particular I think could do just fine looking rather cartoonish if things like audio, lighting & animations were sick af.

Nail down the color-palette, give us some cutting-edge real-time lighting & weather effects, give me hyper-realistic audio, and on-point high-fps animations (the lack of “violence” in pitcher-deliveries has been a complaint forever, e.g.) and suddenly “graphics” takes a major back-seat.

All you need to give me visually is a clean image (zero aliasing) & accurate color-palette, the rest is details.
                  Just one man’s opinion.
I don’t actually care about any of this.

                      *sigh*

Still the same player/jersey models that were introduced in the late PS3 era....

At this point I don't know what the hold up is with their graphics department. Either the sports game industry is in desperate need of competition on the baseball side (it does) or they need to get some better devs in their graphics department or a new lead graphics designer or something.

And don't even get me started on some of the holdovers in the stadiums from the PS2 era...

It’s pretty sad how excited I’d be if I found out they reworked the grass.

Unless they're promoting the Switch version. Sony probably can't legally pass off next-gen screen shots for Nintendo.

Either the grass or the dirt. Even a closer camera angle in the field would be a game changer....

The image in the original post is far too clean to be a Switch screenshot

Obviously not Switch, but if it was, it would have been even more of a travesty if the game wasn’t current gen visually. Some of the artifacts in last years game were still 2D! On PS5!

We should be beyond things like wanting dirt and grass to be rendered properly. Should be onto the extra details like water that splashes when balls are hit into it, and the shrubbery slowing a ball down as opposed to behaving like a holographic wall.
