    Does SDS read these?

Just curious if SDS reads these at all? It’s quite clear the majority of their loyal fan base is disappointed to say the least in the progression of the game over the last few years, especially since the introduction of the PS5.

Do they care? Is there anyone with any knowledge of what goes on there that they are actively trying to improve graphics? Actively trying to improve presentation and immersion? Or are they just content selling diamond dynasty cards and calling it a day? Do they want to know the graphics and hear our concerns but have no budget?

I wish we knew where they stood on much of this. Would make it a lot easier to take the lack of improvements if we got some info from them as opposed to acting like they are creating some great new game each year when we all know we’re at the point we’re basically getting roster updates.

    Re: Does SDS read these?

They used to come around these boards. The constant harassments and declaring them "lazy" brought that to a swift end. Same for most of the other sports games here, there used to be much discussions between devs/community managers and the users, but people couldn't behave like adults so the adults left the room

      Let's stop this narrative.

OS unsurprisingly is a very Franchise focused forum. They stopped coming to OS when Franchise was no longer the focus of the game. They also created their own forums on their own website and they were probably trying to have that be the home for feedback with fans.

I do see them go onto the MLBTS reddit sometimes, so I don't want to hear how bad OS is and we drove them away for being bullies. Reddit is a different monster and they go there because they cater to the DD crowd and there are more fans there then here. They have still popped in here and there over the years.

SDS has also changed a lot in the last decade plus. It is not the same small dev team that we knew all those years ago.

I don't think we can just say "OS users were mean to them so they stopped coming".

They read, yes. They'll also get stuff filtered to them. It doesn't really have a ton to do with what OS does or doesn't do -- or the community here on the whole -- it's more just the style of information has changed in the last 5-10 years where community managers exist on most teams now to handle this stuff, and studios on the whole have done more to get their own info through their own sites/forums/targeted outreach/etc. rather than having the devs have to spend extra time doing this sort of stuff since they have enough on their plates as is.
I won't ask for Christmas or birthday gifts if you subscribe to the Operation Sports Newsletter (Not Just Another Roster Update). I write it, and it hits your inbox every Friday morning (for freeeeeee). We also have an official OS Discord you can now join.

I dont think it was this. They've obvs developed some sort of company policy. Ridin and Tabarnes were heavy on these forums until they jobs at SDS. I dont see them here anymore and it def wasn't because of "harassment". Probably more of a company policy where SDS wants to handle the messaging of their product.

Changing times call for changes to media policies and how you communicate with your fans.

I also think it is a false assumption to say a majority of their fan base is disappointed. This game sells a couple million copies each year and I would hazard a guess that the "majority" of fans are silent. It is just like anything else, the vocal minority drowns out the silence of the silent majority.

If everyone who was vocal about the game stopped buying it, I think there would be little change to their sales. Just a guess here but pointing out that we can't call OS or even reddit or Twitter or X or Facebook the majority of the fan base. Most stay silent.

As an example, I have bought this game since 2009 but didn't post anything about the series here or anywhere online until 2017. And I am sure there are many who haven't posted a thing about this game ever. They go and buy their copy and quietly play it online or offline for the year then rinse and repeat.

Sony may not reply to this forum like they used to but they still find Operation Sports helpful to their mission. After all, they still make the effort to show their appreciation by acknowledging OS in their Credits screen. Its still in MLB23 Credits too. And like mentioned previously, they took at least two of the best of our own, Ridin and Tabarnes and brought them into the fold. Sony took those two because Sony knew Scott and Tabarnes had their fingers right on us franchise guys pulse, and were in great position to help give us what we want. We are only 3 or 4 years in with the Real Full Minors, but some of us already take that for granted. I for one do not want to go back to the old days of fake minor leagues. If you guys feel the need to know OS is significantly helping to improve The Show, look no further than Sony basically incorporating OSFM into their MLB. I also look forward to OS and its members who can constructively critique this game everyday, and doing so without just merely criticising it. Its a hard and fine line to walk, some of you guys do it spectacularly, some fail miserably. So when you get your copy of MLB24 next month, peruse the credits to view the gratitude Sony feels about Operation Sports. And then remember, ''You did that.''

                Re: Does SDS read these?

So if they’re in here, they must know people have been begging for graphical Changes or at least player model updates for years. Any reason why they never seem to address it? Are they incapable or are they prioritizing quick easy money to just push DD and we should give up the dream of ever having next gen, actually just current gen at this point, graphics.

Some will say we, or I, am too harsh, but I’m sorry, I dropped 500 bucks on a ps5 three years ago for this game and I shoulda just kept ps4 at this rate. I find that unacceptable and worthy of our anger that the capabilities of this system they marketed and we bought is barely utilized for this game. Smoother frame rate is nice but cmon, it’s ridiculous how little they’ve gotten out of this system.

I would love to pick Ramon’s brain on that.

I’m a baseball junkie and they have my suckers because of their monopoly. I readily admit that. But I’m getting closer and closer to saying why bother, never thought I’d be at that point with this game. Used to be the crème de la crème.

I have no idea why you continue with this concept. You know they’re not going to respond here.

You did this same song and dance last year in the impressions thread.

Think its a matter of opinion. I'd say MLB is one of the few games where franchise mode still entertains me. Thinking back to 18 and 19 and comparing it to where we are now. I can see a difference in graphics, especially on a 4K TV. Can also feel a difference ein the way the ball comes off the bat and how fielders react to the ball. Think the ballparks are heavily improved too. Is it a perfect game. No of course not but to say it's just copy and paste is a bit drastic. From 1 yr to the next it's not a huge change but over a 4 year window it's pretty significant.

I feel you on that. The main reason I bought the PS4 the day it hit shelves lo those many a year ago, was for NCAAF15. That didn't go the way I hoped. That was also when I learned to not count my chickens before the eggs are hatched. Tough lesson learned.

                        Does SDS read these?

Funny I dropped $500 on a PS5 as well and MLB 20 which I played in 2020/2021/2022/2023 was like a new game on the PS5 running at a beautiful 60 FPS and played like
                        Butter.

Then I finally picked up 23 4 weeks ago and was blown away at how beautiful the game looked and played and is a distinct upgrade from the great MLB 20 in many ways.

Guess I am a little easier to please but hey I get some people's dissatisfaction with the lack of graphical upgrades in the player model and player creation area of the game.

But man....gameplay? Has never been better. And it was a bumpy ride getting here from 21 and 22 (not my cup of tea). But here we are.

Look I distinctly remember when The Show left the PS3 truly behind the game took off again in terms of visual fidelity and most importantly gameplay.

23 was the first one I felt since the move to the PS5 that elevated the gameplay in a far more balanced fashion.

I am pretty sure 24 will continue that trend and when/if they ever leave the PS4 behind in development we can see another leap.

That has been the games MO for a while now.
