Beyond the grass and dirt like people have already mentioned which could use massive improvements, I'd say the player models, specifically the uniforms look quite outdated. I mean they've essentially been unchanged for 10 years since the first year on PS4. And even then they were only marginally improved beyond the PS3 version. The uniforms straight up look like they are made of plastic to me. Which is odd because the negro league uniform template they made last year looks miles better and more realistic, like actual cloth. But for some reason that improvement didn't extend to the MLB uniforms. They just looks so stiff and unnatural.

Re: Does SDS read these?
Also tattoos would be nice. Don’t understand how 2K has no problem with this but Madden and MLB there are excuses.
That said I can’t wait for 24.NFL - Las Vegas Raiders
NBA - Los Angeles Lakers
MLB - Los Angeles Dodgers
NHL - Los Angeles Kings
MLS - Los Angeles Galaxy
EPL - Newcastle UnitedComment

Re: Does SDS read these?
Somebody made an excellent post in another thread a few months ago. Don’t want to go back and find it.. but they need to start with adding the huge gold chains that the ball players wear now. I’m talking outside the jerseys. Have players that have unbuttoned shirts really have unbuttoned shirts. Playing with Mookie Betts or Justin Turner should look and feel distinct

Tattoos I've always assumed isn't so much that 2K has no problem, but more that they're willing to risk any lawsuits because even in losing the payoff would be nothing to them. Madden I would put in the same boat but after the NCAA lawsuit a decade ago they're probably going to avoid anything that might wind up in court. Sony...I obviously don't know any hard numbers but I think it's clear it doesn't get the budget or bring in the revenue of other sports games so it's probably not even worth opening themselves up to anything.
It could also be a byproduct of how they build their player models. Maybe their systems weren't built to support custom arms for tattoos without it being a whole bunch of work. I don't know, just throwing ideas out.Comment

Re: Does SDS read these?
Agreed on chains and buttoned vs unbuttoned jerseys. More player personalization would be very welcome.

Re: Does SDS read these?
I dont think Sony is too concerned with tattoo lawsuits; they do put the neck tattoos in, when the player is head scanned.T-BONE.

Re: Does SDS read these?
I pretty much agree with all the points people have made. As the OP i think this can be summed up simply saying its beyond time SDS made the graphical improvements all other sports titles have on the PS5 for years now.
I think if they just improved the jersey cloth, physics and player models this community would lose their minds and through bouquets at their feet. If for one year they could concentrate less on "legend reveals and diamond dynasty cards" and actually allocate resources to getting the game up to par graphically that would be amazing.Comment

Re: Does SDS read these?
I don't think it's a lawsuit issue. NBA 2k has basically every single player with , not only, their realistic tattoos but they update them monthly throughout the season with hairstyles.
tattoos and any sort of uniform updates are evidently pretty low on the priority chart for SDS seeing as how nothing on that front has been touched since like ps3.Comment

Re: Does SDS read these?
Exactly. I think a more realistic answer is they just don't scan body parts.

Re: Does SDS read these?
I’d love to have the players tattoos. But scanning for those may be something they don’t see as worth their time, since with a baseball uniform really all you would see of tattoos is the lower half of their arms. Plus most players wear tape and arm sleeves. So I get that. But uniforms are in desperate need of an update. If they could update uniforms, grass, and dirt it would go a really long way.Comment

Re: Does SDS read these?
Still it should be in, Imagine if Ohtani had full (tattoo) sleeves and always played with short sleeved undershirts the gaming experience would be sorely missing in realism/immersion."When it's all set and done, reality is the best innovation."Comment

Re: Does SDS read these?
They read, yes. They'll also get stuff filtered to them. It doesn't really have a ton to do with what OS does or doesn't do -- or the community here on the whole -- it's more just the style of information has changed in the last 5-10 years where community managers exist on most teams now to handle this stuff, and studios on the whole have done more to get their own info through their own sites/forums/targeted outreach/etc. rather than having the devs have to spend extra time doing this sort of stuff since they have enough on their plates as is.Comment

Re: Does SDS read these?
All of this is true, Chase always is spot on but i would add SDS is becoming less and less transparent. Thats more on Sony PR than the devs. Used to be livestreams..now its "feature presentations" Now ? they dont even mention what the streams are about. The business is to sell the game so PR will push the window dressing and minimize the core of the game being pretty much the same again especially graphically.Comment
