Re: MLB The Show 24: Storylines Derek Jeter Feature Premiere Breakdown
I don't know, I guess its what angle you look at it. Minimum 90 at-bats, Jeters .247 career average at the Kingdome is his worst. And in the postseason Captain Clutch, known for his October magic, was unsuccessful at the Kingdome and wouldn't find success in the playoffs in Seattle until the M's moved to SafeCo and out of the Kingdome. So its a pretty big tip of the cap nod to Seattle to put Jeters Achilles in The Show.Originally posted by Kevin_DInstead they debuted the kingdome cause of…. Jeter. Kinda embarrassing and a slap in the face to Mariner fansIzit Spring Training yet?Comment

MLB The Show 24: Storylines Derek Jeter Feature Premiere Breakdown
I took the time to reset my login for this Ancient and archaic designed website in order to post a reply to this article because I disagree with it entirely.
First off should have done the Jeter storyline last year or over the summer as a free DLC, you don’t base the selling point of a sequel as features we already have (Moments)
STOP GIVING SDS A BREAK!
The YouTube video deservingly has over 600 dislikes because the fan base is SICK OF THIS BS
We don’t care about the employees that researched the Subway system of New York to make it Authentic.
These past two reveals have made me so furious, this is a video game about baseball and there is no focus on that.
They are turning into Madden.
We used to be able to set concession stand pricing and choose whether to take a bus or fly. Fans of Franchise, Road to the Show, March to October are all getting F’ed by Ramóne and friends.
So you’re frustrated the first two reveals (The Negro leagues which is baseball history and the Jeter storyline which is playing thru portions of a hall of fame players career) are not focused on baseball and you’re justification of this opinion is that we once were able to set concession stand prices and choose whether to take a bus or fly?
Really????

The fact that he was on the Yankees is what inflated his popularity.

I believe what he was trying to say is that there were many other features that used to be in the game that have been removed. It's not a comparison of setting hot dog prices vs a Jeter feature, per se. It's the fact that they have been taking things out that many people enjoyed related to Franchise and other modes and are putting things in that are not universally received well...or even requested by the buying public.Comment

He distinctly states “this is a video game about baseball and there is no focus on that” and follows up that narrative with the comment about concession stand prices and choosing between riding a bus or flying.

I'm not at all into the storyline stuff, strictly a franchise player. But saying they take out things that "many people enjoyed" is just speculation. We don't know how many people enjoyed these things simply because a couple of guys on OS mentioned it.I think you are missing the point.

I don't think the core idea of a Jeter storyline was not received well. It has more to do with them also revealing during that storyline that graphics and animations are still the same. Also teasing a feature reveal that people may have thought was something else.I think you are missing the point.

Re: MLB The Show 24: Storylines Derek Jeter Feature Premiere Breakdown
Nba 2k and Madden introduced next gen versions of their games right away. SDS is a Sony property. Did they not know PS5 was coming out 5 years ago? This is exactly what Sports Interactive did regarding Football Manager. They split off a part of the team to start working on a new architecture and backend a few years ago. People were very negative about the game from FM20-23, then this year, they revealed FM24 was bringing year-to-year saves to the game while also unveiling a new era of Football Manager built from Unity (also a lot of other things like women's football, etc.).
My point is, if it took Sports Interactive nearly 5-years to refactor everything for a new engine, you can bet it will take as long or longer to refactor a game like MLBTS to a new engine. And SDS could very well be doing this, which is why less "big" new features are revealed for the past few release.Comment

You can say the same thing about any feature then... positive or negative. Like many have already said, this site carries little weight with the manufacturers. We are a small subset of their buyers. The opinions here are no more valid to the manufacturers than those in Instagram, Reddit, etc.Comment

Countryboy, I’ve been reading these forums for around 15 years, I know you’ve been here longer. Do you honestly not see why these first two premieres are raising a red flag for a lot of people?
I’m not here to convince anyone not to buy the game. I don’t care what others do with their money, and if you can find enjoyment out of the game I think it’s great. That doesn’t mean every move by SDS is the right one.
This team used to zoom into outfield walls to show differences in textures/lighting. They used to jump right into gameplay to recreate in game scenarios and show us the differences from the prior year. These are things that would be noticed by every gamer regardless of what mode you play.
Can you agree that not showing gameplay until what seems like a week before release is pretty outrageous? That goes for any game, not just the show.Comment
