Cal's not happy with himself while Rickey said so far so good so what!!!

    Cal Ripken Jr. – 6’4 - 205 – 3B
    Team: Harrisburg Senators (Washington Nationals)
    18 years old - AA - 61 overall
    Top 100 Prospects: 4th / MLB ETA: 2026

    Last Series: 6G / 10 for 23 / 1 HR / 10 RBI
    2025 Stats: 21G / .322 BA / .365 OBP / .556 SLG / .920 OPS / 9 2B / 22 RBI

Performance: Another nightmare series for Ripken at the plate. Not much solid contact, and when it was, it found gloves of fielders. “I’m getting the hell out of Reading as fast I can, this wasn’t a nice one and it’s going to garbage, if you ask me.” said the 3B.

Team: On that part, it was better. 4 wins out of 6 games, and except for one game, the pitching was stronger. “We we’re better overall, and that series win was much needed, especially for our pitching staff. Now we must duplicate it at home against Richmond.” said team manager.

    Senators: 13W – 14L – 2.0 GB – 5th in Eastern League Southwest
    Next: vs Richmond Flying Squirrels (15W – 12L - 0.0 GB – 1st in EL Southwest)

    **********

    Rickey Henderson – 5’10 - 180 – LF
    Team: Midland RockHounds (Athletics)
    18 years old - AA - 61 overall
    Top 100 Prospects: 3rd / MLB ETA: 2026

    Last Series: 6G / 6 for 23 / 1 HR / 8 RBI
    2025 Stats: 33G / .306 BA / .345 OBP / .507 SLG / .852 OPS / 7 HR / 29 RBI

Performance: “The portrait is getting clearer after 6 weeks. While it’s been a roller coaster so far, we can say that was we saw before drafting Rickey’s been there. There’s no denial we have a diamond in our hands at LF!” said Athletics General Manager. Rickey cooled down, getting no hits in the last two games of the series in Corpus Christi, but the 4 games before, he went 6 for 16 with 7 RBI’s, which isn’t bad at all overall.

Team: The RockHounds won the last two games, but they could easily got out of the series with 5 or 6 wins. “Our relief guys where terrible. We blown 3 to 4 runs lead in each of the first four games. Totally unacceptable. At least, we they got up to the task closing the last two games!” said the pitching coach.

    RockHounds: 18W – 15L – 0.0 GB – 1st in Texas League South
Next: vs San Antonio Missions (18W – 15L, 0.0 GB – 2nd in TL South)

The Cardinals just played what might have been their best series to date. The Cardinals swept the Marlins in Miami over the weekend and are now just one game under .500. The Cardinals won this series with all 3 facets playing well. Pitching was great, allowing 7 runs over the 3 games on just 10 hits. Hitting was on fire scoring 25 runs over the series and the defense was solid, with key spectacular plays to get out of potential jams.

Willson Contreras had a terrific series belting 3 homeruns and driving in 9 runs. Lars Nootbaar recorded at least 2 hits in all 3 games, and Ivan Herrera just continues to swing the most consistent bat in the lineup as his average is near .400 on the season.

On the mound Matthew Liberatore went 8 innings, Dustin May 6 and Sonny Gray tossed a complete game shutout as the starters did their job and the bullpen was effective when needed due to not being overworked.

The Cardinals have the Braves in St.Louis for a 3 game series starting Monday.
I have to say I'm happy your Cards having a better year, even some success in season 2, . You have no idea how much I would have curse if I was in your shoes in season 1. Always waiting for the "Finally, the Cards found their groove and won the series." but you came back more often than not with : "Another series loss for the Cards...". Keep going, it's cool following your franchise! :-)

Astros shrink deficit with sweep of Rangers to enter the All-Star break

The Astros streak of series wins against good teams continued as they swept the AL West leading Texas Rangers, 3-0.

That sweep brough Houston just 2,5 back as the league enters the All-Star break.

The series ended with the best game of the three. In that game, the Rangers took the lead 7-6 in the ninth inning but, Houston wasnt done.

They tied it in the bottom half of the inning wit Isaac Paredes HR before they walkied it off in the next half of the inning when Brendan Rodgers hit a one run single.

Contreras homers as Cardinals top Twins on Opening Day

          Final: Twins 2, Cardinals 4

ST. LOUIS, MO—Willson Contreras hit a solo home-run and Sonny Gray struck out six hitters over six innings to help the Cardinals secure an opening day win over the Twins in front of a sold out Busch Stadium crowd.

Twins starter Pablo Lopez cruised through the first four frames, setting down the first 12 hitters he faced. But the Redbird bats flipped the script en route to a 3-run bottom of the fifth inning, highlighted by a Victor Scott II double that drove in the go-ahead runs.

Sonny Gray (1-0) tossed 6 innings on the day, allowing three hits and 1 ER. He walked two. Closer Ryan Helsley shut the door in the ninth to earn his first save.

Sandberg finds his mojo in AAA while Suzuki's burning AA

            Ryne Sandberg – 6’1 - 175 – 2B
Team: St. Paul Saints (Minnesota Twins)
            18 years old - AAA - 64 overall
            Top 100 Prospects: 1st / MLB ETA: 2025

            Last Series: 6G / 7 for 20 / 6 BB / 2 RBI
            2025 Stats: 6G / .350 BA / .519 OBP / .550 SLG / 1.069 OPS / 1 2B / 2 RBI

Performance: “The call seemed to take him by surprise. Maybe he thought it was A-Ball because we saw things at bat we didn’t see for 6 weeks in AA!” said farm director Eric Overstreet. In fact, Sandberg seemed to have blossom breathing the air of St. Paul. “I can’t explain it, I was seeing the ball well, I made good contact with it, and there were good results.” explained the second baseman.

Team: After four games, it was pointing toward the Bisons kicking the Saints pretty solid in the rear! But there comes the Saints with two good performances, a 4-1 win that was followed by a great 5-4 win in 16 innings. “That one was a great fight, going back and forth with them. Getting on top was even more fun for us!” said Doug Heinlein, Saints manager.

            Wind Surge: 20W – 19L – 5.0 GB – 6th in International League West
            Next: at Indianapolis Indians (23W – 16L – 2.0 GB – 2nd in IL West)

            **********

            Ichiro Suzuki – 5’11” - 175 – RF
Team: Corpus Christi Hooks (Houston Astros)
            18 years old - AA - 61 overall
            Top 100 Prospects: 7th / MLB ETA: 2026

            Last Series: 6G / 9 for 23 / 1 HR / 6 RBI
            2025 Stats: 33G / .412 BA / .473 OBP / .618 SLG / 1.091 OPS / 9 2B / 21 RBI

Performance: “How could that guy got out in the 4th round? Talk about a steal so far! Holy hell is good at bat, and he’s only 18!!!” said Midland manager. Ichiro was again masterful in the six-game series, with an average of .390 and hitting the ball fair and square. “Oh, don’t get me wrong, he’s having some few off at bats, but 75 to 80% of his contact with the ball we’re solid or hard. He gave our pitchers all they can handle!” Midland manager added.

Team: It was an even series between two teams that looks alike. They split the series, so the RockHounds are still a game above .500 while the Hooks bounced back after a tough series in San Antonio. “We can do better as a team, but winning three games was something we needed to get back on track” explained Ichiro. Next up will be a trip to Frisco to face the Roughriders.

            Hooks: 15W – 18L – 4.0 GB – 4th in Texas League South
            Next: at Frisco Roughriders (15W – 18L, 4.0 GB – 5th in TL South)

Trade Logic still needs a lot of work. It might be worse than ever. I'm a couple days before the trade deadline, and I've had to undo several trades. Two things in particular involve the A's and Nationals. They're both in last place and "Rebuilding".

The A's seem hellbent on trading Tyler Soderstrom. Despite the fact that (in my franchise), he's a 79 overall, B potential, player who is just 23 years old with 4 more years of team control, I've had to reload because the A's traded him 3 or 4 times now. I've also seen the A's trade Jacob Wilson, a rookie who is their highest rated player.

And the Nationals are likewise determined to move James Wood. Who is 87 overall, has an A potential, is 22 years old, and has 5 years of team control. I've had to undo 3 trades for him (including 2 sending him to the Dodgers). I've also seen them trade away 78 overall/A potential/23 year old Dylan Crews (at least in that case they have Jacob Young at CF too, though irl they still wouldn't trade Crews for prospects).

The game just does have "Rebuilding" teams value young, controllable players at all. Only prospects, it seems.

Ended up turning off trading for the last day of the deadline. I'll just do trades manually, it seems.

My experience has been different in that I think the trade/roster logic is pretty damn good.

All the guys you mentioned are still on their respective teams and I’m in the latter part of May 2026 (year 2)

I don’t know if what roster one uses makes any difference but I’m using the default base roster that launched with the game.

                    Team Last Series: At Iowa Cubs / 3W – 3L / 38 Runs Scored / 27 Runs Allowed

Performance: “Patience at the plate is a key, knowing when to swing is a key, and I guess, Frank’s found a few keys in the series.” said Manager after the last game. In fact, Thomas seemed to have shake his slow AAA start and had his best series so far. “I’m striking out too much, but that 4th game with the homerun gave me a lot of confidence.” explained the young 1st baseman.

Team: The series was hot and cold for the Bats. They scored 31 runs in the three wins while scoring only 7 in the three losses. “It’s not white, neither it’s black from our point of view. We can do better but we did many things good against the Cubs. We will need to be even better against the Stipers at home.” said Bats manager.

                    Bats: 26W – 19L – 3.0 GB – 3rd in International League West

                      Walker Powers Cardinals Over Twins

                      Final: Twins 0, Cardinals 5

                      —————————————-
                      Batting

                      2B: Arenado (1) Walker (1)
                      HR: Burleson (1) Walker (1)
                      RBI: Burleson 3 (3) Walker 2 (3)

                      Pitching
                      Fedde: W (1-0) | 6.1 IP, 4 H, 0 ER, 8 K
                      Maton: H (1)

Jordan Walker launched his first home run of the season and the Cardinals got another strong performance from their starting pitching as they shutout the Twins 5-0 in game two of the season.

The Cardinals offense got off to another slow start on Saturday, not getting a baserunner until the 5th inning. But a Jordan Walker RBI double broke open a 0-0 tie and the Cardinals would not look back. They padded their lead in the 7th inning thanks to an Alec Burleson three-run homer. Later on in the frame, Jordan Walker hit a solo shot to give the Cardinals their 5-0 lead.

The Cardinals needed just 5 hits to secure the win thanks to another stellar performance from their starting pitching. Making his season debut, Eric Fedde tossed 6.1 scoreless innings, allowing just four hits and striking out eight.

The Cardinals will go for the series sweep on Sunday as Minnesota RHP Bailey Ober will face off against RHP Andre Pallante

Texas Rangers update Season 2 MOM.

The Texas Rangers head into September sitting at 72-64. They are just a game and a half behind Seattle. Houston has also crept back in to the race as they sit 6 out. Seagar has cooled off. Hes out of the top 4 for MVP. He's still got 33hrs and 83 rbis. Tucker has caught fire upping his average to 260 and hitting with more power. It's going to be a fun stretch

Cardinals take series against Braves to get back to .500

                          RECORD: 22-22
                          DIVISION: 2 GB
                          WILDCARD: 1.5 GB

The Cardinals are back to .500 on the season as they took 2 games of a 3 game series against the Braves in St.Louis to begin the week. The Cardinals won both Monday and Tuesday, but were unable to complete the sweep as the bullpen blew up on Wednesday.

Jordan Montgomery only lasted 5 innings on Monday but he was brilliant in those 5 innings giving up a run on 2 hits with 10 strikeouts. The bullpen was very effective with Kyle Leahy, Chad Green, Jordan Hicks and Ryan Fernandez closing the deal in the Cardinals 6-1 victory. Offensively Nolan Arenado drove in 5 runs with a 2 run single in the 3rd and a 3 run double in 8th that pushed the lead to 6-1.

Griffin Canning was on the mound Tuesday and went 7 innings giving up 3 runs on 6 hits with 4 strikeouts. Not Cannings best outing but the offense did enough as the Cards would win 4-3 thanks to Willson Contreras' 3 run homerun in the 7th that made it 4-3. Ryan Helsley would close the door in the 9th striking out the side.

Wednesday Matthew Liberatore was brilliant. 6 innings with 1 run allowed and in line for the win as the Cardinals were up 5-1 when he left thanks to Alec Burleson who drove in 3 with a bomb in the 4th and Masyn Winn added a 2 run double later in the 5th. But the bullpen just blew up with Kyle Leahy giving up 3 runs without recording and out. Sam Hentges would in turn give up 4 runs in 2/3 of an inning and Luke Weaver gave up 3 in his inning of work as the Braves beat down the bullpen to the tune of 10 runs over the final 3 innings to win the game 11-7.

Next up is a 3 game weekend home stand with the Twins.

I don’t know if what roster one uses makes any difference but I’m using the default base roster that launched with the game.

I agree, I'm in year 2 as well, opening day rosters and almost all of the CPU to CPU trades have made a ton of sense to me.

Cardinals sweep Twins to get over .500 for first time since beginning of 2025 season

                              RECORD: 25-22
                              DIVISION: 1 GB

The Cardinals swept the Twins in St.Louis over the weekend to get over .500 for the first time since the start of the 2025 season. The Cardinals played extremely well in this series with all 3 starters earning wins and the offense had no less than 9 hits in each of the 3 games. Dustin May (10) and Sonny Gray(12) posted back to back games with double digit strikeouts and Jordan Montgomery went 7.1 innings before leaving due to a broken nail. The bullpen was only really needed in Montgomery's start on Sunday as Ryan Helsley closed that game out for the save, but on Friday and Saturday, while the bullpen pitched, it was simply to maintain a big league as the Cards won 10-2 on Friday and 9-1 on Saturday. Sunday was tighter with the Cards winning 4-2.

Offensively Willson Contreras hit a homerun in each game of the series and drove in 10 runs over the 3 game stretch. Lars Nootbaar showed up with 6 hits and Alec Burleson had a 5-5 game on Friday that included a homerun and 3 doubles.

Next up is a 3 game series again with the Braves to begin the week.

I am reading a book right now about the Cubs in the 2016 season and how they ended up where they did. There is a bit in it about the Eptein introduction with them and a quote just hit me different:

"To me, baseball is better with tradition, baseball is better with history, baseball is better with fans who care, baseball is better in ballparks like this, baseball is better during the day. And baseball is, best of all, when you win,"

After that I didn't want to go back to the Rays(and Lowes 12 home runs in 5 games, what is going on with that stadium?!), I wanted what that guy had.

So I re-thought all my thoughts of before, but with that quote in mind. Which franchise hits my conditions(diversive rotation, different build lineup, cool stadium) and has the tradition and history, without the success you would expect out of that?

                                So welcome the

                                Milwaukee Brewers 2025

I am still new to baseball so I'm not really famiiar with the history of the league. Since I follow it, the Brewers changed a lot of players but one thing never changed: They were good. I didn't know how, because they never looked that impressive. But they won games and I assumed that was just the way they roll forever. But they actually have the 3rd longest playoff drought in the history of MLB(25 years from 82-08),are the oldest team without a World Series win(together with the Padres) and even though they had some great regular seasons the playoffs are a different beast. And addition the Cubs got way better this winter, one team in the division has one of the most electric young players on the field, another one on the mound and the 5h team has also a history of winning. So it is up to the Brewers, and now me, to fight for their spot in the NL Central and THEN talk about their place in the league again.

The best thing: The "rules" I set for myself for the Rays still apply here, since both teams operate in a similar vein. So we will try to make moves that help the team financially in the short term and in competition in longterm. It's an interesting time for the Brewers, since they have a huge talent in Jesus Made in development and an very good pitchting prospect in Misiorowski as well, which sounds already very much like a Brewers pitcher. It will be very interesting to build the roster that way.

                                Rotation
                                1. Freddy Peralta
                                2. Brandon Woodruff
                                3. Jose Quintana
                                4. Tobias Myers
                                5. Nestor Cortes

Freddy Peralta is one of my favorite pitchers in the league(make that move, Blue Jays) and he will be our ace this season. Woodruff will make his first game since 2023 and will probably continue to be one of the best under the radar pitchers in the league. Quintana I really liked last year when I adopted the Mets, so I am looking forward to play with him. Myers is a very interesting name, since we don't really know how good he could be. Nestor Cortes was a piece in the Devin Williams trade I am happy about.

Civale will be added to the bullpen as a long arm, giving it even more depth. Abner Uribe and Trevor Megill will split closing duties.

                                Lineup(s)
                                1 2B Turang
                                2 C Contreras
                                3 LF Chourio

                                4 DH Yelich
                                5 RF Frelick
                                6 1B Hoskins
7 CF Mitchell(vs RHP), Cameron (vs LHP)
                                8 SS Ortiz
                                9 3B Monasterio

In the post before I called them similar to the Mariners and I think that isn't the worst thing since I loved that lineup. The biggest difference is that you have more power from the start, plus the speed is more balanced. Great conditions for the small ball I like! I'm looking forward the most to play with Chourio, because that guy has MVP potential.

We open the series against the torpedo bats, but with more success then in real life:

                                Series recap: at Yankees
                                Game 1: W 5-3
                                Game 2: L 3-4
                                Game 3: W 5-0
The Rollie Fingers award for the best player of the series goes to: Jose Quintana: 7 IP giving up 3 hits and 1 walk with 5 Ks

Game 1 started as I imagined: Turang gets on base, steals second and gets batted in by Contreras. Then it went on as I feared because on the other side Bellinger got on base and Juge homered for the Yankees lead.
Then it was quiet until the 5th inning, where we put 2 more hard-working runs on the board with sac flies, the Yankees added one in the 7th.
With a tied game in the 9th we just went on with our game, breaking Luke Weavers will to score two runs. Abner Uribe came in to save the game and secure the win.

We didn't learn from our mistake in game 2, because we gave another home run up to Judge, but at least this time it was the only run for them for a while. And it was the last time we didn't walk him intentionally.
For us Chourio recored his first hit of the young season, hitting one out of the park. Andruw Monasterio brought 2 runs home with a double. We held that lead until the 8th, where Goldschmidt hit a 2-run homer, before that Oswaldo Cabrera already brought a run home. Devin Williams shut us out in the 9th inning without giving up a base runner.

The 3rd game was a pitching duel for 4 innings between Quintana and Schmidt but then we broke out: 5 runs in the inning: A 2 run Contreras home run, RBIs by Hoskins, Mitchell and again Monasterio. From that inning we went back into the pitching duel.

Next up we will play our first home series, against a team that could be our brother from another division: The Kansas City Royals!
