I mean just about every sports game has clipping to some degree. Not really anything to lose enjoyment over. Video games aren't perfect nor will they ever be. They are for entertainment and escape from reality. Just like movies. Enjoy it for what it is and don't look into it so deep, its not perfect just as is life.

Re: MLB The Show 25 Early Impressions
It's already been said a few times, but man once I settled in and played a few franchise games without looking at every single detail and OVER-ANALYZING the new game.....this is the best show game ever released.
And once they iron out a few bugs here and there, and give us a few patches in the upcoming month......it's going to be even better.JUUUUUUUST A BIT OUTSIDEComment

Re: MLB The Show 25 Early Impressions
So I've played 3 games since getting it 9pm yesterday (West Coast/ Best Coast lol).
1st time in probably 4 years I didn't buy the early release and of course this year's blows the last few years out of the water.
Graphical improvements are there, or maybe it's the lighting, either way I can see improvement in stadiums and player models.
Sound is better, from the pop of the glove, to the sound of the ball off the bat. Throw some headphones on people. It sounds great. The crowd too. Had an instance playing Cincy vs Milwaukee where Hunter Greene gave up 2 hits to start the game and the crow went from excited to start the game, to quickly a low rumble or murmur of nervousness until he proceeded to strike out McClain and the crowd erupted for Greene.
Must say the sweeper pitch is devastating against a star pitcher. Had me looking silly.
Saw a few new animations too. One that stuck with me was in Boston, when Jarren Duran ran into the ball just as he caught the long fly and ended up dropping the ball.
Obviously I miss the warm up pitcher visuals in the background when selecting pitchers and am not a fan of the no doubt HR when batting, but I do like it when pitching. I see what they were going for but think they should have used it as an instant replay and let us follow the flight of the ball instead on initial contact. .
The ump cam for close plays at the plate are amazing.
Must say I'm having a blast and can't wait to get home to play some more later today. We'll done SDS, also the patch on pitching and adjusting innings and stuff of that nature was clutch.
Side note: this will be 1st year where rosters are out of the box good enough for me to start my franchise. They have all the main prospects and international guys I was looking for. A few injured guys that I'll need to put on the MLB team (Acuna) but it's basically ready to go. Re: MLB The Show 25 Early Impressions
First impressions after playing about 30 minutes of exhibition with default sliders...on a Nintendo Switch: Holy. Crap. It's beautiful, the sights, the sounds, the smell of fresh cut grass. There are some issues on the Switch, some cut scenes are a little laggy, some small font sizes are blurry. But I remember 2022 had some issues that were worked out in patches, and to be honest, even if they aren't, it's still beautiful. I think my only gripe will be the commentary, which I normally turn off anyway. The sounds of the game itself are wonderful!Cleveland Guardians - MLB The Show 25
Washington Nationals - MLB The Show 22

It’s absolutely wild to me that this has to be explained to people still……..

Not to pick on anyone but when I see a post from JK over the years I know it's going to be about clipping/collision detection. That just annoys him to no end.I hope he can find enjoyment anyway because this will be a thing from time to time.Comment

Re: MLB The Show 25 Early Impressions
I can’t tell if all this is a gag or not, but I’m beginning to think people who think the graphics are really that bad just need a new/better TV. I say this because while I normally play on a C2 on my XBSX, I just played on my XBSS on my old TV and it looks nowhere near as good and a borderline early XB1/PS4 game. Even on the C2 with the XBSS, it’s not as nice as the XBSX but still looks solid.
I still say the models can be improved (I enjoyed the upgrade this year and think they can take it a step further). But I compared the overall lighting and graphics to Madden, CFB, EAFC, and 2k and it’s pretty close, especially during gameplay.
I’m going to stand on my opinion of the 1% graphical improvement and don’t get me started on the dated animations. I don’t even need to buy the game to know that the run animations have not changed and still the same number exist in the edit menu. A score of 9 out of 10 with no mention of graphics yeah right! I think the real question should why was it not mentioned!
There are a lot of us who simply do not care.....and most who know me around here know I never even talk about "graphics"
We talk about gameplay, realism, fun, features, animations, logic etc etc etc.
The Show improved in every category on MLB 25. Yes including graphics lol. The game to my eyes look beautiful.
I don't know you......you don't know me.....that's cool. MY review was my personal opinion on a message board on an impressions thread. Nothing more and nothing less.

Re: MLB The Show 25 Early Impressions
- Well unfortunately no...I have never gotten a free copy of the game from the good folks at SDS.
- Agree 100% the game looks as good as it ever has, the new lighting is stunning, player models have been improved and I have noticed a lot of new fielding animations.....like wow moments I have not seen before and a lot of subtle animations making routine plays look different and not the same ol same ol.
- It's not important to me....I didn't realize this is some kind of elephant in the room? The Show is a beautiful game in motion.....but more importantly it plays incredible!!!! Gameplay is the #1 most important thing to me followed by Presentation and Franchise features. Graphics has never entered my mind with any of the sports games I play. And I play a lot of them. Bloated Review? Yeah I don't get that statement. It's an opinion. And I am an enthusiastic gamer who loves playing The Show.....how about passionate review? Yeah that's a better description
- Been playing since MLB The Show 2009 myself. Again it seems it's a really big deal to you and I respect that....too bad it ruins your enjoyment of what is a really great sports game. So is what it is. I don't talk about graphics....because they do not make or break my personnel enjoyment of video games.
- BECAUSE I DON'T CARE ABOUT GRAPHICS.

And its been that way for 7 or 8 years, so I dont understand the rants from graphics guy
It is a shame where we are in this moment of sports gaming. Madden and MLBtS should be much farther along. In an ideal world, there would be other titles to try/enjoy. Why isn't there a bonafide NFL coaching/management game? Why isn't there a baseball manager game?
My Eras is probably the coolest thing out there for sports gaming. But having been violated by the NBA (Sonics thievery) I just don't have the love for that sport that I once had. Beyond hope, I wish MLBtS had something like My Eras.
[Respect to hockey and FIFA, thats just not my arena]
Anyway, if you love baseball, I don't see how this is a glass half empty game/series. It checks all the boxes, and from a gameplay standpoint, it stands against any sports game ever made.Last edited by Madden08PCgmr; 03-18-2025, 12:24 PM.You want free speech?

I stand by that.
3 out of 6 of the elements you listed clearly fall under graphical fidelity! I'll say it like this the animations in MLB the show are stale and old like really old and dated with rubber doll player models for a next generation console game.
And when I compare that to the amount of animations that play out in Madden 25 it pales in comparison and the graphics don't even hold a candle. One main reason graphics are an elephant in the room for MLB 25 is because SDS clearly has not done much in the last 3-5 years. That engine they are using is at the end of its life. The game looks decent but I could not have been the only person waiting on that next generation visual experience until the initial gameplay trailer dropped and the air was let out the room. For fairness and a nearly perfect score all areas should be addressed!Proud member of the 0.04%Comment

Okay fair enough, You stand by your opinion and thats fine. However its nearly a perfect score for the elements you mention here "We talk about gameplay, realism, fun, features, animations, logic etc etc etc."
