Ever since the patch went in, I played my brother, and we can no longer do practice swings before the pitch. It's completely eliminated in gameplay (both quick counts and full).

I tried multiple settings both in franchise and in exhibition mode from the main screen to test it and the practice swing is broken in every setting for me.

This is a deal breaker for me.

Is anyone else having this practice swing issue?

Nevermind. Found it. They intentionally removed the practice swing feature from local 2-player games. Sucks as I like to play against my 3 sons on the same console and that is a bit ruined for us.

Won't get to play until after work, but I've seen a lot of videos where runners are sliding head first into first base on routine outs on auto base running. Is there any reason that this is happening, or is it a bug? Hopefully a bug because that's terrible design if not.

I’ve played 5 full games, every pitch and haven’t seen this one yet.

Won't get to play until after work, but I've seen a lot of videos where runners are sliding head first into first base on routine outs on auto base running. Is there any reason that this is happening, or is it a bug? Hopefully a bug because that's terrible design if not.

Played my first exhibition game and 3 guys did it.

It was asked in another thread, but are you using Ambush hitting by any chance? I’ve played 20-25 games already and haven’t had it happen once, but I also haven’t used ambush hitting. So people are trying to rule things out to find out what’s causing the bug.

I created Barry Bonds and put him on the Giants and his jersey # is 28 instead of 25.

They've blocked us from being able to use retired numbers altogether, even with the players that match the name its retired with.

Just another feature needlessly removed for no reason to destroy the game further than its already been destroyed.

Awful additions to MLB The Show 25:

1. The HR Camera on every no doubter, even in local 2 player game
2. Can't do a practice swing anymore on a local 2 player game
3. Can't use retired numbers, which means I can't create old rosters, which is what I did with my time 99% of the time.

They just don't want me as a customer at all.

It happens to me all the time. I think it's when you use Analog hitting option. I have base runners sliding into first on ground ball singles into the outfield.

The HR camera is only for modern The Show broadcast. If you change the era to anything else, the old HR camera is used.

As for the Bonds thing, is this in the regular roster before you enter franchise? Does it impact any other player you try to create with a retired number? I know Bonds’ likeness is separate from any agreement they have with MLBPA or retired players, so just curious if he’s the only one with the issue or others are too. It used to work if you set it up for other players before you got into Franchise mode.

I’m playing a game pre-70s. It appears it’s set to fast play. Batters snap back into position, haven’t seen a batter walk up. Appears presentation may be seriously depleted.

I believe someone found a workaround for retired numbers in a previous game....I can't for the life of me remember what it was but it's somewhere in these forums....

I tried both before and entering franchise. I tried it with Andruw Jones on Atlanta and Barry Bonds. First two retired number players I tried. Bonds always worked in previous games, so it's not a likeness thing.. especially because I am using created versions (obviously with Bonds).

I would use the Legend versions, but their stats go into Dynasty and they have a big (L) next to their name, ruining the immersion.

Thanks for letting me know about the camera, that I can avoid the HR Camera by changing eras - although it seems when I use that, they limit the replays and walkups and it ruins the immersion.

One step forward, one or two steps back every time with this game.

Really the only bug that really affects my game is the guess pitch bug.

I have to use guess pitch because I have a neurological condition that affects my hand-eye coordination (button mashing is my bane of existence). Anyway it helps me time pitches and somewhat slightly pick up pitch patterns.

Well in this game, you can guess the right location and pitch type, but then the pitch is in a completely different location. For example, I as a RHH, guess pitched a slider bottom right, and when thrown, it was bottom left! It’s absolute bull**** and messes up a good enough accessibility feature!

It’s already frustrating that 80% of the time guess pitch gives you a terrible PCI.

Anyone else having issues with the screen size on the PS5? I don't notice it on every screen or menu, but a number of screens are slightly cut off around the edges, like the screen is zoomed in slightly. Don't have this problem with any other PS5 games.
