    Bullpen Sim Logic Getting Fixed?


    Looks like we will be getting a patch today (March 16) that addresses sim logic for bullpen usage.

    Fingers crossed this works as intended. Would be a major issue resolved finally.

      Yeah,I'm thinking games pitched for relievers will be high but innings pitched should be lower.There's some give and take there.The only true fix is more relievers being used per team during the course of a season.

        Ok so I ran my first test sim:

        - Only 8 SP's eclipses 200 IP. I simmed a season 2 days ago to test and 32 had accomplished this feat so a noticeable improvement here.

        -Most LRP's are throwing 90-120 IP with the occasional guy going over the 120IP+ threshold. Innings and games look solid. Most of the guys with the higher amount of IP started over half of their games

        - Set Up guys probably throw a few too many innings. Most are in the 75-85 IP range but overall this is much better. I'd be plenty happy if they left this as is.

        All in all it looks like they essentially just moved the LRP innings and split them between the 2 SU spots and it is a phenomenal change.


        Now I need someone to hop in some games and test out if in-game logic is fixed. I.E do teams still only use their set up guy with a 2 run lead in the 8th.

          I sim nothing other than spring training. I play 162 in manage mode. I wonder whether these changes impact manage mode or sim or both.

          I wonder if the people who used to program franchise have left the company and now we have people who only know how to mess with sliders.

                  They didn't reverse anything. The lower pitch counts has to do with ensuring that pitchers in game (long relievers) don't throw multiple innings and that the CPU uses the bullpen much more "realistic" in that relievers typically go just an inning. Or if they get knocked around they get pulled quicker.

                  The "fix" in the patch released today is more for simmed games ensuring that there aren't as many complete games and that simmed games follow the same "formula" as played games so that the entire bullpen gets used on a more regular basis.
                  I can't shave with my eyes closed, meaning each day I have to look at myself in the mirror and respect who I see.

                  I miss the old days of Operation Sports :(

                    AMAZING!! Hopefully they don't throw out the LRP to pitch most games you're playing and this isn't just for simulated games only. The in game logic always followed suit to the simulated stats for usage so I have to assume the patch also fixed bullpen usage inside a game played.

                      Just played game and they used SU in 7th and 8th innings with 2 run lead. Both SUs were used. And CL in 9th. So I’m very happy with result. At one point, the only pitcher in pen was 1 SU guy. Never seen this before.

                        What was the cpu setup to get these results. I use 8 RP. Is it:

                        LR1
                        MR 1,2,3,4
                        SU1,2
                        CL

                        Do you have to edit RP stamina at all?
                        Yankees modern day
                        Phillies modern day

                          I don't have the game until Tuesday, but I would have to think it impacts all modes. Whether simulating, playing against the CPU, or manage mode. That is how I read it.

                            It makes perfect sense what he was getting at. They hadnt touched bullpen logic for like 8 years. They still have touched lineup or roster logic in like 8 years either. i actually simmed a season and cpu made 2 roster changes… left their lineup and bullpen exactly the same the whole year.



                            Alot of other games like madden and 2k and ea cfb tinker with logic things during the season in patches but the consensus for mlb is that its too hard for then to do because of legacy code.

                            Logical reasoning is that someone coded these things in a weird way from the beginning 10 years ago to the point where they dont really have the ability or know how to edit that code now without building it from the ground up.
