How does the fact they created a brand new stadium (Sutter Field) fit into that suspicion?

They literally JUST got rid of that keyhole though, so give it a little bit of time. I'm sure it will get fixed.

Yeah, I'm going to miss it too. I wish Detroit and Arizona had both kept it. Totally unique and a great throwback to days gone by.

I knew it was just removed, but I do wonder how long Detroit had been planning on doing this.

They said they took advice from the coaches and players. They said it's for the safety of the pitchers bc obviously hard hit balls up the middle travel faster on dirt than they do on grass. So the players are the ones who requested it be removed

I certainly hope so, but I'm really not sure, honestly.

As far as the stadium accuracy threads, specifically, are concerned, there used to be an SDS staffer by the name of Adam who would chime into these threads from time-to-time, but I haven't seen his username pop up in at least three or four years (if not more).

Like a few other folks with their respective home ballparks, there were some aspects of both Oracle Park and the Oakland Coliseum that I shared reference photos for year after year, but were never addressed in-game. Oakland, in particular, had some egregious issues like the angles of the outfield walls being a bit off, the oversized light towers, and the third deck never being properly rendered after the tarps were removed in real-life.

The Show is still a stellar franchise overall, but timely stadium updates feel like one of those "little things" that have simply gone by the wayside a bit over the last half decade or so. Gone are the days when Jumbotron layout updates were a publicized feature.

I wasn't aware of that which is why I predicated my comment with the conditional clause if. Do you know that the same developer who created all these stadiums and made the stadium creator is still there?

I see. Would the original developer leaving not be a possible rational explanation? What do you think is causing the problems with stadiums?

Do you not think this is a valid topic for discussion?

Let's keep this thread focused on issues with MLB teams' stadiums themselves, there's no need to speculate upon any developer's employment situation.

Additionally, issues with custom stadiums probably should be discussed in their own thread.

Thanks for your cooperation going forward.

The issue with stadium updates is that it’s a lot of work to make minor or major changes to every stadium and check every year. Pictures can be sent as a reference, but then to get them into the game every year is a lot of work. I’d think they could try to update 5 per year, but I’m not sure how long that takes.

I also think that most people won’t notice many of the changes we put in this thread because in reality, most are nitpicking. Unless it’s a major wall change (like the Orioles did) or a huge scoreboard that is noticeable, we put a lot of small changes in here that most gamers aren’t going to notice or care about.

So for the team, is it worth it to make those little updates when their time could be better spent elsewhere?

I don’t know what is causing the issue nor am I going to waste time speculating. All I can do is share my experiences and information with them in regards to bugs I see and hope they are able to fix them. Anything more is nonsense because I don’t have the tools, knowledge nor capabilities of resolving the issue.

Do I think speculating whether or not someone is still employed at SDS and in the same role is a valid topic of discussion? No I don’t.

Yeah, that's what blew my mind. I would think that's not something you change on a whim but something you put meaningful thought and due diligence into. I also find it hard to believe anyone would have just a couple weeks ago realized after 150 plus years of baseball that a ball travels faster on dirt than grass. I don't fault the Tigers for changing it but I do question their baseball IQ if they just now claim to have only recently realized a ball moves faster on dirt.

The A's home debut last night, and I watched the game (ugh), I noticed the in game stadium and it's RL counterpart are quite a bit different. There are sections of stands in right field that are not in the show at all, among other things. My question, should we expect SDS to update Sutter Health Field? Or will we have to wait for custom user stadiums?

I noticed this as well, so I updated one of the versions of Sutter Health Field that was in the vault (for '24). It came out pretty good (humble brag).

Posted pics in the Stadium Creators thread here:

Also recently uploaded a new version of Steinbrenner Field that I created last year for Grapefruit League Spring Training. Will post photos of that in the same Stadium creators thread shortly.
