Re: Conquest Question and Answer Thread

Is the key to making progress in Conquest having a team loaded with Gold and Diamond players?

I've had pretty bad luck with packs and I'm finding it pretty frustrating to make any progress. I only have 1 gold player, a few silver players, and the rest are bronze.

I've yet to take a stronghold and typically lose most of the games I sim. I usually have a "medium" chance or less at winning by simming.

When I actually play the games, on AS, I can do okay with my team... But I don't have the patience to play each and every game.

I also don't really want to spend stubs buying players or more packs. I'm only playing Conquest right now while I wait for the OSFM roster so I can start my franchise. When it drops I'll likely just liquidate my team so it doesn't seem worth it to spend any more.

Well if you don't want to play the Conquest games or Pay for the players with Stubs, how do you expect to get them?

        Thanks for the reply.

I said I didn't want to play ALL of the conquest games. Everybody's strategy seems to be to sim any game that isn't against a stronghold (which you can't sim). But I lose 9/10 games that I sim because my team sucks.

And I don't expect to get all the diamond and gold players. That's not what I asked.

What I'm asking is, for all the people having success in Conquest, is your team already stacked with Gold and Diamond players?

Has anybody beaten Conquest with a subpar team?

          A Couple Conquest Mode Tips/Info:

There has been a couple of things I have noticed so far in my over 100 games playing in Conquest that i haven't seen too many other people mention, but are pretty important.

First, if you choose to Sim in the Attack Phase instead of manually playing the games, regardless of the outcome of the Sim, the rest of your turn will be skipped and the CPU teams will have their turns. However, if you choose to play the games, then you will be able to play as many games as you can until you run out of Attack reinforcements, without the CPU getting their turn. This has a huge impact on the strategy game, obviously. If you're able to keep advancing without the CPU moving, then you're obviously at a major advantage.

Second, in regards to the Conquest Missions and playing innings with a certain team's players to unlock the Legend rewards...it doesn't seem to credit you with an inning if you pinch hit a player (for 1 AB only), or put in a reliever for less than a full inning (1 out or 2 outs). I also tested to see if these single outs accrue over time and add to a full inning and it doesn't appear that they do. I pitched 1 out with the same pitcher in 3 consecutive games and it never counted as a full inning.

Finally, if you play Legend or Flashback players, depending on the team they are on in the card, that team will be credited with the innings played for the Conquest mission. In other words, Legend and FB players count towards the Conquest Reward missions.

          Hope that helps.

Just an FYI, the Skype banner you have under your name is pushing all of your posts over to the right, and they can't be read. The site doesn't seem to be auto-wrapping each line to move it down when it reaches the end of the field.

My team has no Gold or Diamond players in Conquest, but I play almost all the games (on All-Star). If you want to sim, you need to have enough of a man advantage to make it a "High" probability of winning the Sim. I'm pretty sure it has absolutely nothing to do with who is on your team. For example, don't do 1 v. 1 or 2 v. 1 sims. You'll only get Medium probability. At a minimum, do 3 v. 1 sims, and you'll get High probability and win every time (just about).

I dont think the team matters when simming games. If you have 10 m fans and they have 1 you have a high chance at winning. You need to get as many territories early as you can. Get the open ones between you and Seattle. Then you will have more fans with reinforcements

Well whatever it was, you've taken out (probably just now), since it's not there anymore.

                    Anyway, thanks for the advice.

I just restarted Saturday night and have been simming almost everything and now have over 300 territories already.

You do not lose turned by simming. What normally happens on my attack phase is

                      1. I get the first attack (I play or sim this game)
                      2. The CPU goes through one attack phase per team
                      3. I get my second attack round.
                      4. Repeat as often as you have valid moves.

The attack phase should go on for as long as you and other teams have valid moves. I, at first, thought that these were separate attack phases but it is one attack phase that just cycles through the teams. When all the CPU teams have exhausted their moves you will be able to consecutively attack multiple regions until you are out of moves.

Basically the strategy should be to gain as much territory as you can. More territories gives you more fans which in turn gives you more reinforcements. I would not even worry too much about strongholds immediately. Wait until you can bring an overwhelming force against them and play on the lower difficulty.

I guess I should rephrase; you don't "lose your turn" by simming, but it seems like you give up being able to use all your Attack resources for that turn. I tested by first simming a game; I watched then as all the other teams went through their turns. Then it got back to me. This time I chose to play rather than sim; after the game I was able to do another move, without the CPU getting a chance to. I have plenty more reinforcements to do more attacks, but now I choose to sim again; I again watch as after my sim, the CPU goes through and uses their turn. Every time I sim, immediately after the CPU gets to move. Every time I play, as long as I have reinforcements left, I am still able to move after before the CPU can.

I skipped the reinforcement round, thinking I was reinforcing my stronghold because I was under imminent attack. I think I had 12 reinforcements. I thought on my next turn I would have those 12 plus added fans based on my territory count. But I only had 9.

If you don't use the reinforcements, are they not still there on your next turn?

Strange that simming vs playing plays out differently. You'd think I would have known that since I am 101-26 in conquest games, so I have played plenty of attack phases out. In the end though it seems like a wash as long as you get all your valid attack moves.

My guess is that you lose them. Reinforcements are just fans that you can move into any occupied territory. They are basically the key to the game and where you get most of your fans.

If you move them into an occupied territory, they will stay until you use them though, right? I thought I read a suggestion that said to leave a significant number of fans in your stronghold to protect in case of attack? Does that mean you should have large numbers of fans in the six territories surrounding your stronghold?

Yeah, they will stay there. If you ever need to move them elsewhere you can do it in the Move phase.

In two aborted attempts at this mode and now my current play through I have not had a stronghold attacked yet.
