Offline dailies are not really fun and if it is a pitching mission then it can take up a chunk of my playing time. The collections are too expensive and I hate the idea of buying my program points and being stuck with expensive players that I don't really want or need.
I'm with ya, fellow Card fan. I'm getting worse on Showdowns. However, I'm now trying 1st Inning again and got past the 1st boss......

Cool! Since I'm usually losing, and I'm not a great hitter, that extra contact boost will be useful!

Well assuming about 30 days per program, I probably play an average of two 9-inning franchise games per day, so that's about 180 stars right there (you could do the same with 9-inning play vs CPU games in DD). Say you skip some dailies but still average 2 daily stars per day, that's another 60 stars...so we're up to 240 stars. Add 30 stars for completing the Conquest map (not counting having a handful more for each game played) plus maybe 40 more for player programs, that is 310.

But the key though are those number of games played....if you only can get in an average of 1 per day, then yes, you're going to be under and will need to make it up somehow (whether by dealing with the offline dailies, Showdown or some other means).
Play the games you love, not the games you want to love.

That Lucky 7 perk is cool but I hardly ever get to a 7th pitch.

I usually go for the ones where I get contact boosts with 2 strikes, behind in the count, and losing. Very helpful.

Since I tend to draft all power I like using the gold launch and gold defibrillator since it gives me a combined contact and exit velo boost in the exact same counts. If I don't get my pitch oh well, but if I do it's gone.

I've played around 90 hours since launch. around 78 in DD, 8 in MTO, and 6 in RTTS. I am still 7 points shy.

My main issue with grinding for program points is that there is no point in it besides grinding. I did not start a second US Conquest run for the 10 pack bundle as I know that I won't get anything worthwhile from it.

When playing online you are getting XP and thereby points for playing games. In addition to that you are also making progress in Ranked seasons or Events to try to earn extra rewards.

Playing 9 inning CPU games and, to a lesser degree, playing conquest more than once is pointless. It is grinding for the sake of grinding and I will grow tired of that pretty quickly. Now, if they refreshed the Conquest map with a new reward as often as they do events to give us a purpose in playing it again then that would be a good start. Many of us were also hoping that we could run our own solo leagues by assigning Other teams to the CPU. Shoot even a DD league where they could go grab other players teams from Extra Innings and use them.

Some decent tips in this video from Shelfy for some that may be struggling with showdown like me. Discovered some things that I had no idea about like who your final boss will in certain divisions.

                    Re: Showdown Thread

Ok so just completed the NL Central Showdown and used the points to get TA Bell. But boy it was a wild ride against Hader...

I started out down 15-7 since I skipped the 2nd mini boss (Flaherty) and went to the finale. I had an all RH lineup and had the Lucky 7, Gold Heart Attack, and Gold Exit Velo perks. Took the method of not swinging until two strikes. Scored a few runs here and there while making outs and was 15-10 with 12 outs left. At that point his pitch count was around 70 and 100% out of energy. I had not walked once yet. Fast forward I finally draw my first walk on his 125th pitch. Ridiculous. I end up winning on a sac fly as my 19th out and drew two walks total and Hader threw 151 pitches. The only thing having no energy or confidence did was make my PCI bigger. Didn’t seem to affect his pitches from what I saw.

FYI the Lucky 7 perk actually saved me on this. Had several instances where I worked to a 7th pitch and he grooved a fastball right down the middle. A couple of them I was actually early on though and hit foul HRs lol. I believe with this perk the pitcher will throw whichever pitch is their X pitch so it won’t always be a fastball. But with Hader it was.

Man, that guy makes it look so easy!

Good tips though. I didn't realize you could get a clue on the final boss from that main screen. Is it always the top rated SP from that team?

That is a good tip I was unaware of. No not always. Some divisions always have the same final boss and some don’t.

He makes it look extremely easy. He is amazing at hitting.

But yes still super frustrating how skewed Showdown is. Each time I play it whether I win or lose there are far too many smh moments. These don’t happen in other modes.
I got lucky and faced Kenley Jansen as the boss in 3 of the 4 times I tried 1st Inning. Beat him the 4th time by just not swinging until I got 2 strikes, unless the pitch was right down the middle. Got him super exhausted. Still took me to 4 outs left to score the 8 runs I needed. These Showdowns are hard and the CPU cheeses the heck out of you. I doubt I do another one, I was just 40 stars short of 300 for the 1st inning program and dove in.

Showdown progress: 15/30 FOTF players acquired with #16 going to come very shortly just by SF players innings.

Let's see if I can rattle off the 15:

                            AL Central: all 5 complete
                            AL West: all but SEA
                            AL East: NYY, TB

                            NL West: SD
                            NL Central: PIT
                            NL East: ATL, WAS

To me when I don't feel like playing H2H this is a great way to level up and get decent stubs, loving the mode.

I can't get past the first mini boss in the NL West. That damn splitter of Yates is disgusting and I beat it into the ground everytime!

Doesn't help either that there doesn't seem to be much power in the drafts I'm getting.
