Re: What Are You Working On? (MLB The Show 24 Edition)

Idk the number but I've only played conquest trying to work on ta. I haven't done any weird blank canvas xp boosting games. Most of my games were on all star. I wasn't throwing up 20 run games. Seems like xp is way low.

I'm gonna finish off the last conquest map tonight anyway but Def annoying. I cant play much during the week so was hoping to binge play all weekend.

Either way I'd like to get most of the offline done over the weekend so I can start br or events

That might be my first real complaint this year if so. Especially with the programs being so long now.
I think I read someone say it is around 40K. Two theories would be that they lowered it for early access so people wouldn't get too far ahead, but the most likely option is that they just want to try and use XP caps to help dictate when people will get to the first Boss pack and 99s make their way into the game.

I finished The Negro Leagues storylines tonight and all 5 players slotted onto my best team. I think next I will start the USA Conquest map but not rush it and burn myself out, but I need that Musial Card for my Cardinals theme team.

I’ve heard you need to move your DH into a new position, thus losing the DH slot. I drafted Ohtani but got rocked before I could try to move him. They definitely need to improve the way 2-way players are implemented in BR and events.

Dipped my toes into online today. One my first and only event game, and I’m 1-1 in my BR run. Got pretty soundly beat my first game but kept it respectable. Game 2 I was down 1-4 going into the third and tied it. Hit a grand slam in the 5th inning and my opponent quit. Slowly shaking the rust off and I think forcing myself to play more online will get me back to my usual (very average) skill level.

Offline I’ve been playing mini seasons. Can’t get up the nerve to start the US conquest map yet.

I have the Edge and I put hitting on the right trigger and set it to its most shallow depth. Makes a HUGE difference for me. The paddles I use for diving and for setting my PCI.

Don't ask why but I did something I religiously never do and went nuts opening the premium packs. I wasn't even really looking to add to my team - I just wanted to do it once I guess.

I bought 5 Headliners, the 3 HL choice packs and the 3 Spring Breakout and tracked the value through opening them all.

I did pull 1 rare round in SB and took Skenes and pulled Mantle in a HL Diamond round. Everything else was Base or duds.

I added up the value of every single card's sell price and after everything I was still down like 100k Stubs. And that was getting lucky and hitting a rare round otherwise that would have been closer to 200k. Even knowing I was wasting Stubs for science it still made me gag lmao

            Don't buy packs kids.

Re: What Are You Working On? (MLB The Show 24 Edition)

A few early observations from my experience so far:

              - I feel like I'm never going to actually earn any of the players from the TA programs. I know TA is supposed to be long, but it's a little discouraging just to do the math and see how Conquest + Moments + Showdown + Miniseason will maybe get me to the first boss pack? Also, I still loathe showdown, couldn't even get past Greinke on the first try to "breakeven" on the stubs.

              - This is only my second full year playing, but it's a shock to my system to go from hardcore card flipping like I was by the 2nd half of MLBTS 23 to not having enough stubs to actually buy any of the cards I was previously flipping easily and often. I remember how to flip, obviously, but I'm struggling to remember how I earned enough stubs to ever start flipping to begin with! It's likely just a matter of patience, but is still a bit of a mental shock to make that adjustment.

              - As much as I hate it as a Red Sox fan, my best DD team for the offline grind is clearly Storyline-based. Other than Griffey Jr from the Hyper pack, and Dihigo from Barrier Breakers, my team is all Jeter/Subway Series and the Negro Leagues storylines, plus the 3 Spring Breakout players I've earned so far. I got Buxton from the cornerstone pack, but his boost is nothing compared to the Jeter captain with those cursed Yankees cards from that storyline.

              - The storylines are just so well done. I know that's not technically DD, but they are some of the best early cards, so I think it's relevant. I just hate that the NL players don't generate any TA credit, it really discourages me from using them due to their "Free Agents" status. Would be nice if FA PXP could be "cashed in" somehow elsewhere, whether in TA or some other program (maybe for stubs instead?), to encourage more play with them. Josh Gibson's crack of the bat hasn't gotten old to hear yet, plus he's handy for the C TB mission for Spring Breakout

I'm pro XP cap, keep that ish in place. People need to be saved from themselves with the grinding for players stuff and burning themselves out. It's not even the exploits (which is the main reason they're there because the seasons are now 3 months), it's just like being able to just enjoy what's there more rather than feeling like everything is a checklist to finish right away. Keep the FOMO to a minimum.

Other games do this anyway and it's not really a big deal. If they want to expand the window a little then fair enough, but def keep a strict cap in place.

-I'm feeling the opposite so far with TA. It feels straight forward and just normal playing is going to get me to a lot of them over time due to just accruing stuff everywhere. Plus, again, there's 3 months to earn the first two months of TAs more or less. You'll get there.

-Not being able to flip as well during early access and opening week or two is normal. You can prey on the people who don't check stuff a bit from the pack ripping screen, but you don't have as many stubs etc. it's just slower early on, and everyone else also is low on stubs so they're a little more tight with the spending.

-The FA idea is a good one. I'm not sure either what the solution is but it's been my rule for years that I basically never use FAs because I just like earning innings with teams whenever I can since I'm usually getting some extra points towards something that way. With FA players, it's almost like they're dead zones.

I haven't had a lot of time to play. Banged out the starter showdown and the Spring showdown.

I've played 5 conquest games and just like last year the difficulty level is completely inaccurate. 5 games 4 went to extra innings on rookie and veteran. All 1-0 games. I used to love using conquest to grind stats for programs but it's getting really old now with feeling like Conquest is intentionally nerfed. Hitting feels so weak and there are way too many foul balls.

On an odd note I've been hit by 7 pitches in 5 games

I already got yasmani grandal and have obly done the conquest maps, Jeter thing, and the spring breakout stuff. I used the breakout players for the most part and Yankees from Jeter program.

I haven't done any moments yet or showdown so I think the stats accrued from playing the game will make ta a little faster than it initially appears

I think I found my early season mvp

Hit the xp cap again 🙄

I'll be able to play Monday a good bit but then not much tues-fri. Made alot of progress this weekend

                        -Jeter done
                        -ta conquest and moments done
                        -starter and spring breakout done
                        -ta nl east 100% done
                        -9 event wins
-228k stubs (pulled judge and sold)
                        -pulled hader
-pulled John Donaldson from chase pack
-102k xp... Almost at Ryan Howard

Not sure whether I'll start br tmrw or keep running the event to try to make ta progress. I don't really care about any of the ta cards but I imagine this event will be the easiest time to knock it out. It is hard to build division specific team builds at this point

I've finished the starter and Spring Breakout programs and Negro Leagues and Jeter part 1 storylines.

Making my way through Nation of Baseball now. It always seems intimidating at first but now I'm getting closer to the half way point and it feels like the end is in sight. I'm able to more or less cruise and take out a few strongholds mostly on rookie/veteran with each turn.

Early standout for me is Spring Breakout James Wood. Despite his poor vision rating he just seems to reach out and smack everything hard. Ironically, the worst performer in my regular lineup is Veteran Clemente, which was an early phase MVP for me in 21. No matter what my swing quality is, he's consistently finding gloves.

Probably the coolest thing I've done so far is hit a no doubt grand slam with Toni Stone at Yankee Stadium.

I got the NL Central first TA pack by doing the 3 moments and playing the beginner conquests along with the central conquest with a lineup full of NL Central Players. That got me to 50 some odd percent.

But i am not seeing that it is faster like the said, or any less of a grind.

It goes by super fast by using the TA players online. I think one of the missions was to just pitch 2 innings with a TA boss. Between completing that a few times with the relief pitchers, and having Trout, Griffey, and Alvarez in my lineup, I got to 100% for the AL West just playing event games.

Yeah I finished nl east using Wagner getting I think 15000 for every 2 IP... Just used him in each event game.
