Re: What Are You Working On? (MLB The Show 24 Edition)

Extreme program has been extremely de-motivating for me. As an offline only player with reflexes/skill only up to the All Star difficulty level either I’ll get it done sometime in February, or I’ll get my lap shredded when my frustrated shouting at trying to do Conquest scares the cat off of my lap.

The moments are pretty clearly impossible for my level in most cases, and I know not to bother with the showdown. So it’s a long, painful grind through a Miniseason with brief breaks to waste my time trying to play Conquest on HOF. Or I could just play football instead…

      God Squad and Extreme updates:

I’ve earned Mantle and switched from Buck to Murray at 1B. Clemente stays in my OF over Xavier Edwards by a nose - my stats are better with Edwards, but I just like hitting with Clemente. I also feel like morally, I should have one non-switch hitter in my lineup. Griffey is just too tall for me as a single-side hitter. NLCS Edman and NLDS Lindor have replaced their MA equivalents. I may try Santana over Rutchman at C when his price comes down, but the lack of quirks makes me wonder of the reduced height is a worthwhile trade off. Once I earn Polanco in Extreme, Clemente’s run will likely end. Will move Chipper to LF and Lindor to 3B.

On Extreme, apparently trying to slog through the MS on AllStar had a benefit - Conquest against normal rosters on HOF became possible. I’m over halfway through the Conquest map now on Turn 2, so between that and the 25k recurring mission, some real progress is coming! After about 45 more 3-inning games, of course…

For the Extreme conquest map, how do you get over 100M fans? I beat the map on my fourth turn and only ended up with 87M fans. Got all the other rewards, just need to do enough to get the 100M so I get the points towards the program now.

Big news for '25: Sets and seasons are dead going forward.

Alright, we back a bit for the Extreme mini season goal grind. If my math was correct just need 9 vouchers to get deGrom? Regardless, since I know can use my actual theme team I'm going to play through and get the vouchers I need to get to the 80 points in the program to collect his card.

Who do I need to talk to for Winker to have his long locks on his Mets card?

Very solid update by SDS moving forward, makes me excited for next year and honestly one of the reasons I came back to dabble in DD a bit here in late November.

            Good stuff, Ramone..

Interesting. I wonder how they will replace the projected revenue from this change. There’s going to be something to balance this out…maybe more emphasis on the best cards only being in packs? More no-sell, online only cards?

Aside from the community vocally disliking this change, it's entirely possible that seasons/sets were hurting the bottom line. I wouldn't be surprised if people who were willing to spend for cards became less willing knowing the card they coveted would become less useful soon after.

I was intrigued by sets and seasons but they just never quite made it work. 23 was probably better, with the shorter seasons with more unique themes. This year the seasons felt overlong and the rewards were extremely redundant. If the idea was to promote more lineup diversity it failed badly.

I would actually like to see them move away from any sort of time limitation for single player content. Drop a set of lengthy programs on day one and then dole out more over time. I'd especially appreciate a return to individual TA paths for each team. In fact I kinda think it would be nice if most programs were somehow nested in TA. Imagine that early on you earn a bronze/silver/gold flashback through TA, then later they add evolution programs to it for some of those cards. Topps Now and Season Awards could be team-specific, too.

My math was wrong, needed 12 vouchers (84 points) for deGrom.

I won 15 games on Legend in the Extreme Mini Season with my Mets theme team for 9 vouchers and then won the title for 3 more. Ended up also getting 8 more points for strikeouts with starting pitching and innings pitched by relief pitchers.

I now have all the Mets cards.. See you in 2025!

Re: What Are You Working On? (MLB The Show 24 Edition)

I posted this on another forum about stride timing and it's helped me alot. If people are bored with the game and want to get better for next year this might be worth a try

Most content creators seem to point in the direction of get a monitor, use kontrol Greeks, use precision ring, etc. Take pitches and work the count, maybe even sit on a pitch in a particular zone until 2 strikes if you're on higher difficulties, if you struggle with fastball up and in then anchor the pci where you struggle, etc.

All that is right and good and I think great to start with.

My advice isn't my idea, something I've heard plenty but I've applied it for the past few months.

                    Master the leg kick timing

I tried this in years past but never really stuck to it cause it was hard at first and I was having a hard time picking up the ball, swinging at strikes, all while looking at my players stride.

This year I've stuck to it because it's been easier to keep up with content I guess but it's made a huge difference. I'm far from elite but I am 35-0 in ranked this year so I halfway know something about the game.

I haven't mastered the strides yet but I've gotten pretty good about viewing them in my peripheral and I use players in practice mode that I use in online games. I don't adjust my ranked squad too frequently.

I've found guys like David Wright who have a real quick toe tap are impossible to do this with but trout, marte, posada are much easier to get used to

I know some people will look at batters hands for timing like gehrig and Jimmie Foxx in the past but that I found hard to get used to.

If you're out of content for the year and just want to improve hitting id recommend going into events and practice mode with hitters you like and work on this even if you start out hitting worse initially.

If you look at a replay of a perfect perfect Homerun you can see how your players swing is loaded and how the front foot landing and swing coming through are synced up

I'm a nobody with no lifetime top 100 resume but this has helped me alot and thought it could help others if looking for something to pass the time into 2025

I made it to 40-0 in ranked but then lost my 41st game 😭

I redeemed with a tight 41-1 game right after tho.

I think my next year I might quit my first 10 games to start 0-10 and not care about my record. At this point in the game I feel like ranked is really all I care to play but I've gotta be in the right mindset

Also my trout is broken, I have like 50 at bats and hitting close to 400 but only have 1 Homerun! No power
