Re: The Extremely Early Wish List Thread

The main things I really care to have are:

    1) Obviously more batting stances/pitching deliveries. Possibly the ability to take the top half of one player's stance and the bottom half of another's, and mix the two to create a new stance.

    2) DEFINITELY NEED EXPANDED ROSTERS IN SEPTEMBER! It's so annoying to be so limited at the end of the season when in reality the teams have so many more players to choose from.

    3) I had an idea to have different personalities to assign to different players. Very similar to how it is in NBA 2K8, where you can make each player be either (I can't remember the exact personalities) chilled out, intense, etc. And then, they could have different animations and motions depending on the personality. For example, for Big Papi, it would be cool to assign him the personality of "relaxed" and the body type of "big and slow" or something, and then his animations and motions would move slowly and lumberingly. And then someone like Milton Bradley could be "intense" or "heated," and he can have the tendency to argue calls more etc. Then someone like Manny could be "lazy," and he'll crawl down the first base line. (That last line is only half kidding). Someone like Ellsbury could be "fleet-footed" or "athletic" and moves quicker and whatnot. You get the idea.

    4) Lastly, although I don't use Guess Pitch, I do have an interesting idea which I would like your feedback on. It seems to me that in reality, a batter can be guessing a pitch, and then if he gets it, he nails it, but if he doesnt get it, it throws him off more. My point is: it seems that guessing wrong is more detrimental than guessing right is beneficial. So, my idea is to have Guess Pitch where you guess a pitch, and if you guessed incorrectly, then the pitch comes to you either superfast if it's a fastball, or with extra movement if it's a breaking ball. That way, I think it's more like reality where if a player is looking for a pitch and he gets something completely different, it's much harder to hit. With that kind of Guess Pitch, I may actually consider playing with it. What do you guys think?

Chai, that is definately a great idea for Guess Pitch. Reward/Risk I like it.

Let us play every pitch...every play in RTTS...much like NHL 09's new Be A Pro mode....even when your line is not out on the ice...you are watching from the bench. I find myself cheering when a teammate scores and I'm on the bench. It's truly immersive!
If RTTS mode was more like an RPG....I would play that as much as Manage Only games.

Of course keep the current RTTS mode in for when you want to blast through a couple(of hundred ) games!

This is the same thought I had when playing RTTS. Having an option to play every pitch, even watch from the dugout when you're not batting, would be nice for those important games, especially a game 7 of the World Series.

I think I've mentioned this before, but I'd love to see the pitcher's head turn to second base when looking back a runner. This would be particularly appreciated in RTTS mode, when running the bases.

A TV Broadcast-style fielding cam would also be very much appreciated.

I would really like to see the coaches being implemented more and more through presentation methods...

...mound visits, arguments, etc....the coaches need to be shown more and need to be visually represented a heck-of-a-lot better.

(i.e., Lou Pinella doesn't look ANYTHING like Lou...he's about 150 lbs heavier in real life...)

i wouldnt mind seeing sig fielding styles say for example Alfonso Soriano always seems to leap when he makes a catch in the outfield and things like that.

Also more personal options for RTTS. Like if you want your player to grow out his hair or a beard during the season allow the option to shave or what not and if they dont you a beard and hair grows out. Would also be cool to see that for during the season like if Dan Haren or Casey Blake want to grow out a beard during the season leave the option open for it

Re: The Extremely Early Wish List Thread

Forgive me of some if these have already been said. I have had some communication with the developers of MLB and have told me they will add some new features in 09 but understandably would not tell me. Anyways, here's what I would like to see:
                • I think they should tweak the confidence meter to cater toward different situations (instread of everyone starting the game off with the bar full). For example, when Trevor Hoffman comes in, his meter should be full because of his experience in pressure packed situations. In contrast, if you put in an untested rookie to close out a close game, his confidence should extremely low (due to lack of experience) making the save that much more challenging. I know this will make gamers become more strategic in who they assign as their closer.
                • Ability to offer a player a No trade clause and having loyal players offering home town discounts (a loyal player can be someone who has been there 5 years or more). This shouldnt be a problem on account that they added player and club options.
                • Incentive programs for players. Example: If a pitcher throws 200 IP, he recieves an additional $1 million added to his contract (once again, shouldnt be too difficult)
                • Have a rule 5 draft along with real 40 man rosters (waiver system, arbitration hearings, etc.)
                • Finally, like someone mentioned, ability to edit coaches.

                  Real Managers.
In RTTS, the base coaches give you directions vocally too (So when they're not in picture you can hear them)
                  Sig body styles.

I think for RTTS mode you shouldn't be in charge of where you get to play.

not only having a top 100 prospect list and september callups in franchise mode...it would be awesome if they had that in rtts too that way you know where you rank in the league or just your organization also if your a potential call up in a couple years for your mlb affiliate they could call you up in september

Has there been any word if weather effects will make it in for next year? This is one thing I really, really miss from ASB. I remember in ASB 2004 starting a season and on opening day it was overcast and drizzly. Just gave the feeling of a very early Spring day in Detroit.

I am not sure about weather effects, but day/night progression (dynamic lighting) is slated as "IN" for '09.

...I am sure along the same lines weather effects will be implented!

I have seen the same thing...the snow flurries and the just the overall grayness made it feel SO cold. I know they could implement it even better in the Show.

                                Edit/Create Player Options
                                • Sunglasses (Different types such as flip-up, wrap around, goggles, ect.)
                                • ½ sleeves (sleeves cut right at elbow. Also be able to edit color.)
                                • New Elbow Guards (the current one is hideous; looks like a giant ball on your elbow. Need different types such as plastic and the thinner padded ones like Arod wears.)
                                • Batting Gloves (Different types, and ability to edit color combinations.)
                                • Fielding Gloves (Need more colors and possibly a glove editor like 2k.)
                                • Bats (Need more color choices and ability to set traditional or cupped end. Also type of taping used on handle. Would be neat to have players name and team on the barrel.)
                                • Cleats (Different styles and ability to edit color combinations.)
                                • Eye Black
                                • Ability to upload face scans and apply them to created players (Like Tiger Woods 08)

                                Batting Stances/Pitching Motions/Signature Animations
                                • Recapture or manually animate most stances and motions as many are either entirely wrong or outdated.
                                • Add ability to assign a specific home run celebration and warm-up swings to any player.
                                • Ability to select a one handed or two handed follow through for each player.
                                • Batting Stance/Pitching Motion Creation Feature (Could be similar to the current face creation. Uses sliders and analog stick manipulation to position hands, arms, elbows, feet, etc., as well as ability to select different types of bat movement and leg kicks.)

                                Stadiums
                                • Ball boys that chase after foul balls.
                                • Bullpens with players in them during the game, not just while warming up.
                                • Future Stadiums for teams that have them approved. (Could possibly be a download option.)
                                • Real Spring Training Stadiums. (Current ones just don’t have the same feel as the real thing.)
                                • As many real minor league parks as you can get.

                                Franchise
                                • 40 man rosters. (Spring Training is pretty useless without them.)
                                • All-Star Break with all events. (Futures Game, Home Run Derby, ASG)
                                • Real Salaries. (Or the ability to edit players salaries.)
                                • Ballpark Creator (Ability to create and move in right away AND the ability to NOT just create then move into. Have to be able to secure funding, and then set a future date for it to be opened.)
                                • Single A minor leagues.
                                • Real minor leaguers with fake names.

                                Controls
                                • Analog batting (Just like MVP 07. Pull back and the player begins his step, release and he goes back to his stance, or pull back and push forward to take a full swing.)
I hope SCEA looks at this.
Takashi Saito is a better closer than JJ Putz.
