I don't think he was being sarcastic. I believe his point is that no one has mentioned the game being home run happy in the 172 pages of impressions, so what is your secret to hitting so many. In fact, many folks are having a time of it hitting this year...let alone HRs.

BTW, never feel you have to read an entire thread to check for duplicate posts. There is a great search engine on this site (just look at the top, right hand side of you screen). Using the advanced search page and the right search criteria you can find just about anything in these forums.

    Happy posting.

Can anyone help me? Thank you all for your help!!!

I remember a thread where someone said .... no, you cannot do this until the off-season.

        Too bad.

Man, had a great preseason game yesterday using my "I Can't Believe Those Are Your Sliders, Nobody Would Believe You" sliders. Lost to the Mets 4-2. Dunn hit a massive homer for me, but I just couldn't get the important hit.

Each game has really been so different.

Now all I need is my brand new PS3 to arrive tomorrow. I'm even skipping practice tomorrow. Big game Thursday, too, but this is an even bigger game...

this is a beautiful game, but does anyone see a considerable amount of jaggies from catcher cam on 1080I playing on anything bigger than 50 iches? I just moved my ps3 to an RCA 52 inch tv and I see alot of jaggies around the mound and the infield grass.

Re: MLB 09: The Show - Impressions

                    Impressions?

it's great. I couldn't be happier. and when the actual season starts, I'll be even more stoked to play.

my roommate has a nice widescreen hdtv, and when I first started playing the game, the settings were way off. needless to say I was disappointed when it looked like a last-gen game... but then my roommate plugged in the HDMI cable and tweaked the settings.... WOW. it went from Xbox 1 graphics to REAL LIFE.

the stances are all damn good, and the pitching deliveries aren't as annoying as I expected from watching internet videos. The only big F ups so far are on Clayton Hershaws delivery and Ken Griffey's stance... oh, and Manny's face is awful. But other than that, everything is spot on. I applaud the developers.

The animations are great too... no two plays are exactly the same.

As for difficulty, I am still on veteran (3 games in and I've never played The Show). At first I was terrible, but I'm getting the hang of it. I just beat the Giants 3-2 on an Andre Ethier walf-off single... it felt great.

i know this is long, but I remember how I felt waiting for the game, and I would have gladly welcomed a lengthy review.

I am already addicted and this is day two. I was super antsy in both of my classes today. Normally I sit through them just fine, but today I had something wonderful waiting for me.

the pitching meter took me a while to figure out, but once I got the hang of it I loved it. It is better than MVP's meter.. more realistic. Pitching is damn fun in this game. Getting a strikeout gets you pumped up. No previous baseball video games were like that. When you accomplish something, you feel awesome.

so now that I have gushed about the game, here are my gripes:
I don't like the fielder throwing. bring back the meter. this meter feels predetermined... i want complete control.
second gripe: fielding camera. why is the camera at this strange tilt? I sure as hell hope I get used to it... why can't we see the diamond straight on??
Third gripe: My biggest complaint is the damn directional hitting... something doesn't feel right. The hardest pitches to hit are those right down the middle. It feels awkward not pushing the left stick in any direction. I think it is because of that that I only have 2 dingers in 3 games (1 Matt Kemp blast at Petco, 1 Manny golfjob). It shouldn't be way more effective to just hit X or square... but it is, at least for me. The hitting is challenging, but it doesn't feel natural. I think it could be fixed by abolishing the use of up and down on the directional hitting, and simply going left to right. maybe I will get used to it over time. i hope.

overall, I am thoroughly impressed. sure, my social life is gone. sure, I have been procrastinating on school assignments (even more than usual), and yes, I've turned down some tempting threesomes to play The Show. but hey, I am in love, and that's all that matters.

Started my Yankee season for a fourth time yesterday on my own HOF sliders. Won the first game 5-2, lost the second game 13-0 and was up 4-1 in the 8th inning of the 3rd game when my rooommate started blow drying her hair in her bedroom and blew the fuse that my TV/PS3 was on.

Hadn't saved cept for before the first game, three hours down the drain.

the game is made for 720p, which uses AA to smooth out edges. On 1080 there is no AA...

Unboxed my shiny new PS3 last night which was purchased specifically for this game. Since I am new to the series I left everything default so I could get used to the feel of everything.

Had my first full game today. Exhibition with random teams - Cubs (me) vs the visiting Mariners. I love all the Spring Training stadiums you can play in. Really gives you a sense of the time of year it is! (ST)

Was down 1-0 the entire game. Sprayed hits throughout but never put anything together. Their pitcher had their only RBI...weird.

Bottom 9, 2 outs, D.Lee comes up. I finally show a little patience and work the count to full. Foul off two more pitches. Their closer gives be a fastball, high and tight. Lee gets around on it and crushes it over the left field bleachers. Tie game - to extras we go.

Bottom 10, Bradley up with no one on. Runs it to 3-0. Next pitch, high fastball, crushes it to right center....Ballgame. Walk off.

                          me - 2r - 7h - 0e
                          M's - 1r - 6h - 0e

This game is nuts man. Simply nuts.

Definitely worth the PS3 purchase for me! Can't wait to start a Franchise to begin Spring Training with my Braves!
I'm very important. I have many leather-bound books and my apartment smells of rich mahogany.

This is the best solo gaming experience I have ever had. It is the most complete sports game I have ever played. I am 35 years old and THIS is what I always thought might be possible, but WAY in the future. I am in awe of this game.

As an experiment, I played an exhibition game Braves v. Mets,(CPUv CPU) while on the other tv, I put on MLB Network, featuring Mets/Braves Spring training....

Here's all I need to say-----the game looked almost identical to the real thing!!!!!!

Seriously-----from the batter walkups, to the camera angles, etc. The Show really captures that broadcast feel!

And again, the little things-----fouled pitches, the hitter's reactions, etc. mimicked what I watched on the tele.

Also, the single player experience is sooo immersive and the franchise is soo deep, that even though it's a long 162 game season, I'll have no problems playing it out!

Still loving the game, 16-8 right now in my season. The only criticism I can think of now is the announcing. It's still good, but it's too similar to last years. I hope for next year they update it some more. I didn't like the fact that they referred to Josh Hamilton again as "A really great story from 2007." I would think they'd have mentioned his MVP caliber season last year and his HR derby performance.
