Re: MLB 09: The Show - Impressions
about the players wearing sleeves. i started a franchise as the yanks my first game of the regulr season was at baltimore. i noticed posada was not wearing sleeves i remember that. then i deleted my franchise to start a new one cause i wanted to turn on the cpu roster. and i relized now first game posada is wearing sleeves. the whole team is on both sides (dont remember if teams were the first time). so just something i noticed. On another side note i noticed CC field a few grounders. Seen many many balls hit in the gaps and over outfielders heads. down the line for extra base hits. Even saw a ball hit back at the mound and bounce off the rubber rolled back to the catcher and he made the play at first. I also had a situation runner on first. i threw a curve ball thrown in the dirt. catcher was able to recover it quickly and i was able to snap throw back to first to get the runner out. good stuffLast edited by Yanks22; 03-02-2009, 12:08 AM.MLB: Yankees

Re: MLB 09: The Show - Impressions
Actually one of the most praised people(not to mention the person who does full minors) on this board does, Knight165. Plenty of other people play it too, just because you don't doesn't mean others don't.Comment

Re: MLB 09: The Show - Impressions
For the guy asking how to fire a manager coach.
I don't think you can
It looks like they either removed it or forgot to put it back in when they added the new manager and coach "attributes"(they have added some +/-'s to how your coaching staff effects you ballclub).
You can still hire/fire scouts....so my thought is an oversight....because I just don't see why you would remove this.
Sucks...but what can you do(unless I'm missing it...but I don't see how)
Now...onto something very nice for the coaching end of franchise mode. You can now assign training to certain positions. It's not as in depth as assigning per player....but you get certain sessions and time to allot sessions to positions in a number(a lot!) of different drills that correspond to running, hitting, fielding and pitching.
Looks very good!
Injuries....they have been revamped and I had an in game injury.....and NOT to a pitcher!
Mike Pelfrey nailed Chase Headley on the hand in his at-bat....they show a cut scene with Headley holding his arm in pain(even though the commentary said head).....and then they put in Scott Hairston to run for him and took Headley out of the game.
After the game I checked S.D.'s DL....and Headley was out 1-2 months with a broken hand!(I know....I shouldn't be happy..but I am!)

Re: MLB 09: The Show - Impressions
There are quite a few of us!....
Including Kolbe's dad!(thank you Mr. Launchbaugh!)....he's the reason it made it into the game many moons ago....
I think manage only mode is gaining a little in popularity as a nice alternative to playing every game. It's a nice strategy mode that really makes you rely on player attributes...hunches...and they are talking about adding some new things for 2010(Brian was at the community day)...I hope the new additions make it in...it sounded good!

Re: MLB 09: The Show - Impressions
I'm going to sound like such a fanboy, but this game is awesome.
Legend mode is fantastic! In 08, I always found hitting too easy. Now, it's a real battle. The great pitchers are beasts to play against. Intense! Just had a game where I only got 5 hits, and it was a blast. SCEA really nailed the hitting engine.
Defense matters! I actually plan to insert late inning defensive replacements when I start my franchise. Glove guys can really go pick it, and some guys (I'm looking at you, Josh Fields) hurt you in the field. The fact that all fly balls don't hang in the air forever puts a premium on good outfielders.
I'm getting KILLED on the mound. This is super-hard. Mistakes get killed. Gonna have to practice.
I'm sure that in time, I'll have some ideas for what could be done in '10. But for now, I'm just loving this game. What a great job SCEA did. Kudos!Comment

Re: MLB 09: The Show - Impressions
Franchise questions here......
- Do we have transportation options for the team, set ticket prices, set vendors for the stadium, make stadium inprovements
- I heard that we get Opening Day logos, but do we see any part of the outside stadium..i've seen a Tony Gwyn statue screen shot
- Is there something similar to 2K's MLB.COM, where I can read a news paper or internet headline on something going on in my franchise with regard to my team or the whole league with pics as well?
- Do we have goals set by the owner to meet?
- Is there team chemistry or player moral to keep up with?Last edited by mrj513; 03-02-2009, 12:26 AM.Comment
