Re: MLB 09: The Show - Impressions
I thought for sure that this game featured too many HR's after i won a game 11-2 (Pena hit 3 jacks, ive never done that) and the game after that Boston won 16-2. That game featured Ellsbury hitting a grand slam, along with Pedroia doing the same. I was getting a little aggravated at all the long balls and was really close to changing sliders.
Next game, 1-0, i won on a bunt single, stolen base and double down the line in the top of the 9th. Combined hits for both teams? 5. Awesome variety and now i can say its not the sliders that need changing, its just the variety in games.
On a good/bad note, i HATE simming games, but there is no way to play 162 games in my world. How do you guys choose what to sim without feeling like you are giving up control?Check out my Tampa Bay Buccaneers CFM Thread.

Re: MLB 09: The Show - Impressions
I choose 162 games, try to play all of them and always fail. I refuse to sim anything although it makes it hard to do that in baseball. My favourite part of a baseball game is just watching the stats. I couldn't stomach viewing my own team's stats if they weren't 100% mine. In season mode you could always play a shortened season. As little as 28 games I think. Can you do that in franchise at all (I just do season)?Comment

Re: MLB 09: The Show - Impressions
Also I'll play special games that I want to play, for instance inter league Indians/Reds, or Red/Sox reds from last year.
I'll also play all the playoff games, if I make it.
Hope this helps.Comment

Re: MLB 09: The Show - Impressions
A little help guys
With 2 outs I tripled (Kotchman)
Next batter grounded out for 3rd out (Hudson)
They gave me the run even though the inning ended and Hudson was thrown out way before Kotch scored.
Have you seen this? I wish I could give the run back. I don't want it.
If it is in the "Bugs/Glitches" I would not know it because I do not read those. They take too much away from my gaming experience.
So, please be patient with me if it is there.Comment

Re: MLB 09: The Show - Impressions
Try and keep track of how many errors the cpu is charged with and how many your team commits. I feel the slider is broken in this area and I'm curious as to what you will see, particularly if you start raising the fielding error slider.
What I'm seeing is that the more you raise the slider (particularly near the max), the cpu will have more bobbles and blunders but it doesn't seem to affect the human player in this way. It seems to reduce your ability to make plays and balls sometimes go right through you but aren't called an error.Comment

Re: MLB 09: The Show - Impressions
Ive noticed botching catches on my side, not just by the computer. I play with the error slider at +1 and last game with Colorado the left fielder Smith was going back on a ball smoked to left and he bobbled it and dropped it with the cpu ending up on second base. That was all for the game ( none on the cpu side) If you ask me it seemed realistic and thats what i'm looking for. At least they drop balls in this game. 08' didn't have any! I'll keep you postedComment

Re: MLB 09: The Show - Impressions
Finally got my first game in, decided to try out legend after hearing so much about it. Though, vs the Nats so I don't know if that really counts.
Was embarrassingly impatient against Daniel Cabrera of all people, he had a no-no working into the 5th when McCann tagged one into the right field seats to break a scoreless tie.
Cabrera went on to pitch 8 innings only allowing the one run and K'ing 6. 0 BB's (my fault).
Milledge took 2 would-be homers away from me, also.
Lowe went 6 for me, threw right at about 100 pitches. 5 hits, a run, a walk and 5 K's.
Wound up winning 2-1 on a walk-off by Chipper in the 10th. Also had 2 throwing errors with Chipper.
All in all, it was a fun game. I really need to work on my patience, though. But that's nothing new.Comment
