I didn't think it would get that repetitive. I've played games where the number nine hitter, the one that you would least likely talk about, gets the introduction. So, I always figured that it just picks from everyone.

I wonder now how this works since you say you've been getting a lot of Chavez. Maybe just pure luck.
"It may well be that we spectators, who are not divinely gifted as athletes, are the only ones able to truly see, articulate and animate the experience of the gift we are denied. And that those who receive and act out the gift of athletic genius must, perforce, be blind and dumb about it -- and not because blindness and dumbness are the price of the gift, but because they are its essence." - David Foster Wallace

"You'll not find more penny-wise/pound-foolish behavior than in Major League Baseball." - Rob Neyer

Hell in my game today I got Delwyn Young. He is a backup lol

Oh and this game is really causing me to begin a man crush for Matt Kemp. This dude is legit in this game.

Maybe it's just because Chavez is coming back from missing pretty much the whole season last year. So maybe it's more prone to pick up on that? But if nobody else is having it be this bad, maybe it's just the A's?

          i REALLY want this game.

looking on these forums and watching vids aint helping the matter but this year games improved in one way that i was desperate for. and that is the practice mode for batting.

last year i loved the pitching and fielding side of the game, but found the batting side frustrating, i couldn;t hit anything. i also think it was down to having the pitch guess on, as it was more of a distraction than an aid.

but with batting practice, and NO batting aids whatsoever i know i would LOVE 09, but i sold my frickin ps3, and cant justify buying a new one right now.

trying to convince my bro though.

but yeah thought i would sound off.

Happens a lot, actually. They like the feeling of not letting people know where they're looking. Just like a batter at the plate with shades (think Jeff Kent), they like to eye things that they normally wouldn't want others to see.

For a batter, they may be trying to look back at signs, eye where the third baseman is positioned, look at the catcher's shadow as he sets up, etc. A catcher may want to look back at the batter for these same purposes, may want to eye that runner on first taking a big lead, or perhaps there's just a reflection off the batter's eye or high up in the sky where any sort of pitch or play can be detrimental without them.

As a Giants fan, I know I can use Benito Santiago as an example:

Playing with the A's 99% of the time it's "Eric Chavez says he's back to 100%. If he is, that'll be a big lift for the club." The other 1 percent is something about Jason Giambi. Not a huge deal and still worth watching the other team's, just gets boring pretty fast.
I think the old batting order vs the new batting order is a wash in the boring and repetitive department.

One thing they could definitely change that would make the intro less repetitive is not have Dave Campbell only spotlight one of your players. They should just make him choose a player from the home team or something. After the first week or two of a franchise, you will have heard every one of the possible Dave intros until you make roster changes.

How do you check your swing? I saw the computer do it. I haven't played a game that you could do it as easily as in High Heat, by essentially not following through with your swing. The swinging is one thing I like in 2K better.

has everyone gone insane? Have you guys been playing on Legend? I mean the hitting is great but the pitching really sucks! Strikeouts are completely non existent! There is no realism whatsoever from the pitching aspect of this game! I mean in 6 games in my franchise with the Yankees I have a total of 8 strikeouts. Also whenever the computer gets a man on base there is always some silly rally thereafter. I mean I like being scored on when its realistic but its far from it! and dont tell me that im not locating my pitches correctly. I threw this one pitch to Teahan very far outside and he still tanked it for a deep right center home run. its like the computer offense is totally scripted. I havent had one game where the CPU actually scrapped for a run its always some ridiculous rally. I guess if all of you dont care about the strikeouts then sure its a moderately passable game. MLB 08 is far better-I realyl am thinking about returning this game its that sad. By my calculations Sabathia is on pace for about 82 K's for a 200 inning season awesome.

And don't tell me I don't know how to play the game. I have been playing Sony baseball games since MLB Pennant Race on ps1.

Don't get me wrong. I love the game. It is just frustrating me to no end.
Ditto man, i was up by 7 runs headin' to the 9th, brought in my long relief pitcher to finish the game. before i knew it, i ended up using my setup guy AND my closer...AND I F#$@%^ lost 8-7...WOW!

I was up by 8 my last game, with 2 outs in the 9th, only to watch it turn into Home Run Derby. Thankfully I held on to win 10-7.

I hope that you dont take these huge cpu comebacks as a good thing? Its ludicrous! This only means that the game is scripted so that you cant ever get too far ahead! So basically if im winning 7-0 with Peavy pitching in the 7th all of a sudden they are going to comeback just because the computer needs to catch up wtf? This is not good and in franchise mode it will ruin season stats! Oh and did i say how bad it is that you cant strike any mo effing cpu batters! Very disheartening. Im actually considering buying MLB 2k9 to give that a shot. I thought this was the baseball game to end all baseball games and it doesnt even compare to last years version. Where are al these rave reviews coming from? All propaganda!!!! Unless some serious sliders come out i mean serious sliders this game is not worth even $10.

                                Dude, take a Paxil, please.

I agree the CPU has some serious mojo when down, maybe too much, who knows. Time will tell.

But, don't tell me the cpu hitters cannot be K'd. With elite pitchers, I'm hanging up a TON of K's, and that includes elite hitters.

But, I play very slowly, very deliberately. It's painful how much thought I put in to each pitch. Not that I don't get knocked around here and there but I have no issues with the rate I can strike out the CPU.

I play on All Star and Veteran as of late.
