Appreciate the feedback. I'm in my 3rd season now in AAA for SF Giants but they have a pretty good rotation. I've been in the rotation all 3 yrs usually after all star break. I have the interaction to ask to be a SP but I never click it. I want to improve my pitching. Seems I'm better as a RP then SP. When I ask for trades I get the you're to important to the team speech.

So I'll do as I have been, meet my goals and throw extra points to pitches as I feel I can.

So i've played "Road to the show" for about a week now...got through the pre-season and a few games into my AA season. I have to admit...right now i'm not thrilled.

I'm at 3B but eligible at 1B and C and i've seen time at both. It's fun but the load screens are really killing my interest. I wish there was a way you could play 10 straight games or something to that effect so you wouldn't need to jump back to the main screen...etc etc.

I love the thought behind it...and i'm guessing i'd enjoy a pitcher more. Just so far i like the traditional franchise mode much better.

I was on a real craptacular team, Houston, and so that probably accelerated my move to the bigs. But I've read what others have said and if you don't meet those goals you can forget getting promoted. I felt the same way about being a RP early on too, didn't have the stamina to be a starter. I still have problems getting through seven. Usually 6+ is the best I can do.

During my third season I got called up late in the year and started a bunch of games to finish out the season. In my fourth year I didn't even get an invite to spring training so I missed out on a pile of training points there, but they started me out as a RP. I finally got a starting spot and promptly was injured. Got back in the rotation pretty quickly when I came back from injury, though.

Fifth season is going well for me even though the team is Gawd awful. My numbers are better than Oswalt's and even though his ratings are higher, they've got me in the Ace position. I asked for a trade because I'm tired of lack of run support and a plethora of errors behind me but they said screw you. Now they have me on the trade block. LOL

Don't even get me started on fielding. I hate that a goal is to get a ground out and you do but the fielder bobbles the ball so you get the penalty points. Why am I penalized for crappy fielding I did what I was supposed to do. So I try to just get positive results, might hurt me in the long run but positive points are better then negatives.

I wish the outfielders wouldn't dive so often. I sick of singles being turned into triples because my outfield dives for and misses balls all the time.

Re: MLB 09 "Road To The Show" thread

Sadly, my RTTS got corrupted for some reason. I had a batting training session then it all got messed up. Anyways, I started over, made the exact same person at centerfield and instead of going in the draft, I picked to join the Marlins. I was having fun as a CF in the Marlins organization, why change it? I went for more of a power hitting CF this time, last time I went for a speedy, contact good fielding player. I was already pretty good at hitting no matter what a player's contact rating is but it's not the same case with power. I am spending the majority of my points on power and speed.

I did decent in ST (I think, don't really remember). I got sent to AA as a bench player but I still got good playing time and through about 100 at-bats (hitting .303, 4 HR 9 SB) I got called up to AAA due to an injury to Mike Rabelo. I started about 2/3 of the games and I usually pinched hit in the games I didn't. I ended up with 275 AB in AAA with a .311 BA, 12 HR and 32 SB.

In the second season, I am on fire. Hitting .351 with 7 HR, 29 RBI (leadoff hitter) and 29 SB a few days into July. Sadly, I'm only 6th in All-Star voting among CF even though none of the guys in front of me nearly have as good stats as me. I'm hoping for a September call-up. It might be a while until I get a starting MLB job though, Cameron Maybin is still with the organization. I think I'm going to explore other options when my contract is up (signed a 4 year, $120,000 contract with a player option out of first year of spring training.

Re: MLB 09 "Road To The Show" thread

I hate it when it's a hit and run and I'm at the plate. A lot of times the pitcher will pitch out, I don't swing and the base runner gets thrown out. There is really nothing I can do so why should I lose 10 points?

Another thing is when I get a "steal second base" goal, the hitter will sometimes hit a ground ball. Even though I make it safely to second while the hitter gets thrown out, I still get -10 points because I never actually stole the base. It's impossible to steal in those situations.

Lastly, I hate the get on base goals. I get them about 50% of my at-bats which is stupid because an average 19-year old in triple A would be lucky to even get on base 35% of his at-bats. My OBP is .372 right now which is fantastic but I still lose points on those goals.

Even the best players only get on base 25% of the time against top pitchers.

What I think RTTS should do is have no in-game goals. Instead, they should give you points for things you did right and lose points for things you did wrong at the end of the game.

Exactly! They already have a pre-determined way of giving points for certain things once the game is over so just make it all like that. I'm not crazy over striking out the first two hitters in an inning and then they ask me to strike out the hitter. The chances of striking out the side are slim! And losing points for not striking a guy out just because you asked me to is dumb, particularly if I get him out anyhow.

I just played a game where I went 3-5 with 2 RBIs, 2 runs and a triple. Believe it or not, I only got 15 training points from that game. I didn't swing on a hit and run where they pitched out and lost 10 points. I then had an RBI opportunity but I struck out and lost 10(even though I already had 1 in the game and I would get 1 more later on). I stole 2 bases but got caught stealing on two (one I really goofed up on, I had the base stolen but I accidently started going to third. I tried to stop and go back but the fielder tagged me.) A 3-5, 2 RBI performance should be more worthy than 15 points.

I haven't been playing much (sucked up by Madden) but I'm hitting .350 with 6 HR, 27 RBI (I don't get many opportunities as a leadoff hitter) and 29 SB (I stole four bases in the final game hoping to increase my All Star resume. Sadly, I finished just 7th among centerfielders in the voting, which I don't get, considering that no CF ahead of me had at least a .300 AVG, 5 HR and 25 SB.

Unfortunetly, my RTTS file got corrupted. I created a new one, a 3B who got drafted by the Orioles but it doesn't look like I'm going to play it very often. For all the time I've had this game, I've never really gone that far into franchise mode, just playing for a season or 2 then quiting. I think I'll do a little bit more of that, play some Madden. RTTS isn't quite as fun when you're doing the same thing all over again.

Still in my first season (Boston's AA team) as my lanky SP.

Currently 9-1 (2 wins from bullpen in beginning) with a 2.39 ERA. Landed the #5 starter spot after about a month of complete lockdown from the bullpen.

The Sea Dogs are a craptastic offensive team so I've had 4 no decisions in the past 7 series.

Can't wait to get the promotion to the AAA and start going against some major league caliber players.

I play for the Giants and at the end of my first MLB season i had 62 HR, 175 RBI, 255 H, and a avg of .460. I also won the NL MVP award, the Rookie of the Year award, and the Silver Slugger award. I just got done with my spring training for my 2nd MLB year. Im going for the HR record (73), the RBI record (193), and the Hits record (267, set by Ichiro) this year.
