Re: Franchise Progress Thread
I really like it Im just not sure I would find the time to update it enough to warrant the purchase as I wasnt aware that it cost money initially. I signed up and am looking it over and seeing if I can even figure out what Im doing but so far its pretty over whelming. If I bite the bullet and do it I may hit you up with any questions that pop up if thats alright with you.I already prettty much knew what I was doing so it took me about half hour or so to set up the page the way I wanted it. I update it after every 3 or 4 games, or basically when I feel like it, and it takes me between 15 and 25 minutes to update the page with a story and the standings and all that crap. Novices it will take a little longer until they get the features of DM down.
Mostly it's for my own enjoyment, but I get a lot of feedback on it, and imo it's just another way to immerse yourself in to your season. If you are going to do it I recommend starting slow. A lot of guys get burned out because they are trying to update it after every game. I think that's just too hard to do and it becomes tedious.Comment

Yup cool with me.
There is a good tutorial by Pujols4MVP in the forums over there as well. He's got screenshots and everything.
Edit here's a link to the tutorial.

Re: Franchise Progress Thread
BK...I just spent the last hour or so reading and checking out that Dynasty Manager site.
Simply fantastic.
EXCELLENT work.
I planned on doing one anyway, but now I'm inspired.
I think I may just do it with the LEGENDS when I get them done.
Thank you.

Re: Franchise Progress Thread
Ha thanks dude. Like I said I update it every 3 or 4 games, or simply when I feel like it, so I don't get burned out. Imo, or at least for me it adds to the immersion of my season.
I've also been giving the occasional writeup for my season on my blog here at OS. Pretty much the same as the site, but I also go over what's happening around the league and stuff.Comment

My Mets Franchise Progress Thread
****, don't even ask...LOL
My Mets are 2-11...un-freakin-real
I knew it would take me some time to get adjusted from playing '08 to '09, that's why I played about 30 exhibition games, but once I started my franchise (a little prematurely), this **** is crazy...LOL
I won Opening Day against the Red in Cincinnati, 10-8. Then lost the next two games there 4-3 and 6-1. Then I lost the first two in Florida, 6-5 and 4-2. I won the rubber game, 7-2.
I went oh-for-my-initial homestand at CitiField. Lost three to the Padres (4-3, 13-8 and 8-6). The 8-6 game was very troubling because that was my first time experiencing the CPU coming back like it was on a mission. LOL
I was up 6-0. The Pads got 2 runs in the 5th and 4 runs in the 6th to tie. Then they got 2 more in the 9th to take the lead.
My Mets mirrored real life. They scored 2 runs in the 1st, 2nd and 3rd innings, and then nothing else for the rest of the game.
Then the Brew Crew came to Flushing. I was BOMBED 13-4, 17-2 and I lost the rubber game, 5-2. The Brewers hit exactly .400 in that series.
Earlier today, I lost my opening game in St. Loo 5-2
I'm just analyzing some things and have done a few minor slider tweaks....For 2017...

Re: Franchise Progress Thread
I started out horrific in my Boston franchise. Beckett got slammed opening day by the Rays. I ended up getting swept by the damn Rays. Wakefield got my first win in Anaheim by tossing a 3 hit shutout but the Halo's took 2 of 3. So I was 1-5 going into Oakland. Lester pitched will in the first game and got the win and then Dice-K pitched another great game getting a win. The A's took the third game. So I was 3-6 going into my homestand starting with the Twins. I swept the twins and now am waiting to take on the Orioles.
Some interesting notes: Papi hit a grand slam against the Halos.
Ellsbury and Pedey are off to a horrible start and are still below the mendoza line. My really only good offensive threat has been Youkilis and Bay. Bay has 3 homers and is batting .381 and Youk has 2 homers and is batting .320. My starting pitching has been terrible to say the least except for Wakefield who has been lights out. Beckett does not have a win yet. Lester has 1, Dice has 1, and Penny has 1.Comment

Re: Franchise Progress Thread
I just began the 2010 season of my yankee franchise. My first season was pretty interesting. I'm playing with Knight's full minors. I usually have a tendency to turn over a good deal of the team over the course of my first two seasons, but, with just accurate rosters, i tried to stay true to the realities of baseball in handling the roster.
Initially, the only player moves I made were swapping Jose Veras for Carlos Villanueva (both were underperforming at the time, but Carlos was on the block and has more upside) and swapping Melky Cabrera and a low level pitching prospect for Marcus Thames and a minor league B OF prospect. To my surprise, however, the Rangers offered me a trade I just could not turn down. Matsui for Elvis Andrus. They were making a playoff push and I was in a distant third place. I decided to see how serious they were about getting veteran talent. I offered them Wang (who was pitching decent but not well), Matsui (who was only getting at bat at DH against righties but was effective in that role), and Marte (who was having a decent year) for Andrus (who is in second for ROY) Nefitalli Feliz (who is having a solid year in AAA) and Matt Harrison. They accepted the deal by over 75% to my amazement.
The trade forced me to rework my roster a bit. Damon became my primary DH, Jeter moved into LF, and Feliz slotted himself into the 5th spot in my rotation. As a result, this changed the trajectory of my team for 2010. Instead of looking for a quality LF and DH, I ended up signing Carl Crawford to be my starting CF (six year contract with the assumption being that he will move back to LF within the first three years of the deal when Austin Jackson is finally ready to start in CF and Jeter is either retired or moves into DH) and I picked up Victor Martinez to be my catcher and move Posada into DH for the last two years of his deal (Martinez was signed to a three year deal with an option for the fourth, the hope would be that Martinez could remain offensively productive enough to move into the DH after Posada's deal is up and hopefully allowing Jesus Montero to move into the role of catcher).
Pettitte retired at the end of the season, as I expected, and I was planning on leaving Feliz in the rotation (he was 5-3 down the stretch with a mid 3 ERA) and bringing up Hughes to replace Pettitte. I gave a competitive offer to Beckett, with no intention of actually signing him. I simply wanted to bump up his asking price for the red sox. Surprisingly he accepted my offer after a month, which meant only one rotation spot for Hughes and Feliz. They competed all spring long ad Hughes ended up winning the job. With a relatively young rotation that mostly feature long term deals, it will be tough to fit both guys in the rotation now.Comment

Re: Franchise Progress Thread
To the guy with the Dodgers. Manny has 15 HR's and 37 RBI's batting .443 as the Dodgers are 22-5 on the season. Furcal is batting .418. They are only outdone by the Cubs at 23-4.
I am the Brewers sitting at 11-16. I can't hit a dang homerun!!! The Brewers live and die by the homerun so I can't win a dang game!Comment

Re: Franchise Progress Thread
I have a nice two-game win streak going with the Indians. Beat KC twice, and am now getting ready to face the Twins in CLE.
Currently stand at 6-8 tied for last with the White Sox.
DeRosa is becoming a beast..........4 HR's, 8 RBI in the KC series. I moved him up in the order to third, behind Sizemore and Peralta.
So far, Carmona has pitched great games, but is 0-3. My best pitcher so far is.......... Anthony Reyes. 3-1 with a 3.34 ERA.
Wood is 4-4 in save opportunities.Pavano, much like real life, kinda stinks: 1-3 with an ERA of 6.5......
All on Vet mode with some slight slider tweaks of my own.
Oh, and Victor Martinez injured his ankle on a slide into second, and is out for at least one month, so Kelly Shoppach is the catcher for now...Last edited by Segagendude; 04-26-2009, 02:01 PM.Comment

Re: Franchise Progress Thread
Yankees Franchise
Veteran skill level
"Perfect Sliders"
O.k, i'm currently sitting in 4th spot in the AL east with a 4-5 record.
I struggled with offense in the opening series away to the Orioles and the Royals. Then I lost the series opener against the Devil rays 1-0 and was thinking that the offense would never arrive (this went for my opponents as well).
Then in game 2 against the devil rays I blew a 6-1 lead to lose 8-7, then I won the 3rd game 10-6, so i'm very happy with the results, reality and randomness of the results so far.
New York Yankees Stats (9 games)
Batting Avg- .257 (19th in mlb)
ERA-3.13 (6th in mlb)
HOT
Alex Rodriguez- .400avg 2HR
Mark Texieira- .324avg 4HR
Nick Swisher- .219avg 4HR
COLD
Johnny Damon .187avg
Hideki Matsui .179avgComment

Re: Franchise Progress Thread
WOW
First game against the Indians, I torch Pavano for 11 first innings runs. Grand slams to Posada and Texiera basically finish the game in the bottom of the first.
End the game 17-3 winners, not a bad first up showing at the new Yankee stadium.
Am back to .500 on the season with 5 wins and losses apiece.Comment

Re: Franchise Progress Thread
Been playing RTTS so much that I am just getting started with my franchise. I thought I would pick the Pirates for a challenge and i think i bit off more than I could chew. I started off the season in St. Louis and I split a 4 game series 2-2. Not so bad then I go to Cinci and lose 3 straight so 2-5 still not tooo bad 2-5 on the road. I go back to Pittsburg and loose 3 straight to the Astros. I just couldn't get enough butt kicking so I played the opener vs. Atlanta last night before I went to bed and lost again. I am hoping that I will win one soon! 7 straight losses is not too good.Comment

Re: Franchise Progress Thread
Well, finally decided to roll with the Dodgers, as I just don't feel right playing as the Red Sox, as I just expect things to mirror the real season with them. Plus, I always play as the Sox, so using a good NL team is a nice change of pace. Only move I made was signing Sheets to a 3 year deal.
So far, i'm 10-4 on the season. My whole team is in a hitting slump. Even Manny is barely above the mendoza line with just 2 HR's. Loney has been clutch thus far with 4 HR, including a walkoff job in the 14th inning last game against the Rockies off Corpas.
My pitching has been lights out thus far, as no starter has an ERA above 3.50, and I had a stretch of four straight games where my starters went 8 innings, with Sheets, Billingsley, Kuroda, and Wolf all pitching solid. Kershaw got blown up by the DBacks for 9ER in 4IP, but he pitched well in his other start, racking up 11K in 6+ innings of work. Broxton is 4-4 in save opportunities, and has yet to allow a run. Currently, Kuo is on the 15 day DL with a strained forearm, but Stults has filled in nicely in his absence.
One of my favorite things to do in a franchise is make deals, albeit realistic ones, and I figured that with the Dodgers, there was a lot of potential to acquire a bat after I figure out who is performing best. I figure that between Kemp, Loney, and Ethier, one of the three, or a package of two of them, could be dealt for a bigger power bat at the deadline. I can already tell it's gonna be a struggle to find the stands, as aside from Loney's 4 HR, Manny is closest with 2, and then only Kemp, Martin, and Furcal have 1. One bat i'll keep my eye is Prince Fielder, as he has been the talk of trades in real life as it is, and if the Brewers fall out of contention, I might look to make a deal with them. Potentially Adam Dunn as well, although i'm not sure i'd feel right robbing the Nats of their big FA signing less than a season into his contract. I figure for either of these two guys, it would be a package deal with either Loney and either Kemp or Ethier, depending on who performs well.Comment
