I wouldn't use them, so I don't care if they included them or not.PSN ID: Lordcledus

Re: should the show go to right analog controls
With that theory what exactly is the current control scheme? Don't get me wrong I love MLB the show but with this theory this control scheme dates back to The original Nintendo.
Yes they should add right analog controls. Let it be optional. I for one would definitely like the challenge, not sure if I'd stick to it but to add it definitely wouldn't hurt.Madden 17

Re: should the show go to right analog controls
If done right right, analog stick controls can be real good.
It becomes more fun for obvious reason. In some cases it makes the game more difficult and give you more user control. What's the fun of just hitting a button compared to when you have to be precise on how you throw or hit the ball.Comment

Re: should the show go to right analog controls
No. God no! The hitting model is so good now, I think tacking on stick controls would risk screwing up a well oiled machine. Timing and plate coverage is so integral to the Show's simulation of hitting. If you look at the pitch speed on 2K, the velocity looks like softball for a reason. And they barely bother with plate coverage.
To me these stick controls are a needless abstraction. The PCI+swing mechanic is just plain solid. It allows the team to put the focus where it counts, the 1s and 0s under the hood driving the results. I'd much rather see that continue to improve and evolve than focusing on integrating something unnecessary (and potentially harmful) to realistic gameplay.Comment

Re: should the show go to right analog controls
I want to press a button to swing, not execute some sort of stupid Tekken move every time I was to take a cut. With that said, the developers are welcome to add whatever they want so long as they don't abandon or neglect the non-gimmicky controls.Comment

Re: should the show go to right analog controls
took the words out of my mouth. that is an absolute gimmick. i like how they've stuck to their own, non gimmicky control scheme. sort of like Gran Turismo still using the X button to accelerate rather than using one of the trigger buttons.Comment

Re: should the show go to right analog controls
If they implemented them well, then yes, I'm all for it...as long as they leave in the current format in case it doesn't pan out (or for those who just flat out don't like it).
Hitting: If 2K wouldn't have screwed up and taken out the step influence (and added that horrible yellow bat cusor in and call it "zone hitting"...lol) their system could have been the most complete, user-controlled hitting interface available.
The full timing, plus zone could have offered much more variance than is difficult to fully realize with the buttons (except for maybe a pressure sensetive release or something, I suppose).
Fielding: I love the throw meter and think if it's done right (noticing a theme here
...lol) then it offers great opportunity for true user-control in fielding.
Pitching: I think the current 2K9 pitching controls are fun and can add a layer of challenge to the pitching if coupled with The Show's base formula. The reason the 2K system doesn't work isn't the controls, it's that the system is completely based off of them and void of any realistic determinants. Stats, ratings, confidence, and other little variables (like plain 'ol randomness...lol) aren't included...at least not well.
I honestly don't understand the dramatic "gimmick" comments...lol. It's only a gimmick if it's just tossed in for the heck of it
. It's a gimmick in the 2K game because the game is fundamentally broken...not because of the controls themselves.
It doesn't have to be gimmicky, and I honestly believe if SCEA were to use them, given how well they handle things, that some would change their tune a bit.
Preferences aside (Personally, I'm actually am not a fan of the swing stick), it makes sense for them to go this route too. It would open up the game to more players and doesn't have to take from what's great about the game already (again, if implemented correctly and they leave the current system in) in terms of realism.
Not saying that it should be a priority, but I would certainly be on-board if they decided to add them in eventually.Comment

Re: should the show go to right analog controls
I find it rather insulting for anybody to say right stick controls are a gimmick..
the OP did not say to remove button pressing and add only r stick
the game should have options for the users..
guess what..the game is not made for OS members...is made for the general public
there is no reason why Sony cannot add this to next year and leave classci there as well
is not a gimmick...
if that is a gimmick then what the hell is pressing a button and watching the game do everythign for you like it does now
hitting is fine...i dont mind the hitting...r stick for hitting is ok but pitching needs to be made better..
no much of a skill to press a button..
I mean most people use classic which is even worst then pressing a button..
SCEA is going to do what brings them more customers...they have done a great job with the series...but what is the point of spending 60 every year if the game is the same in terms of controls..
might as well just provide roster updates all year long...Comment
