This was the 1st game I had played with real players, so that was exciting. I remember sitting in middle school making out my lineups in class.

Probably the best game I remember playing other than this and MVP was Ken Griffey baseball for the Super Nintendo and then the 2nd Ken Griffey on the Nintendo 64.
Moemoe, I did the same thing! I used to day-dream about the game at school (what a geek, huh). I think I was more into this game than girls at that age (early teens), lol.
Did you see my posted pictures, just a few post past? That brings back memories. I actually still have my Atari 800XL at my parents house (sound doesn't work anymore unfortunately) and this game. I will have to boot it up next time I visit them.

Definitely played Intellivision baseball, Micro League, Earl Weaver (on the Commodore Amiga), Front Page Sports, MVP 05, OOTP among others. Had been playing the 2k series on the 360 for the past couple of years and then a couple of weeks ago I decided to dump my 360 and go with the PS3. Mainly did that for "The Show" and I am soooooo happy I did! This game is awesome and I've only played RTTS so far. I've been staying up until 5:00 or 6:00 in the morning on weekends playing it. I'm waiting for knights rosters to come out to start a franchise and can't wait.
Commodore Amiga was an awesome computer (I never had one). Never played Earl Weaver on that one, but it looked good. I forgot about Front page sports baseball. I played that one too.

ASB, in my opinion, was very close. It tried to do many of the things that MLB does, but just didn't do them well. I wouldn't be surprised, in fact, if MLB borrowed some concepts from that game.

Video games has always been an escape for me from pressure/stress, and still is. I had a lot to escape from as a kid and alot of these baseball games helped me out there, especially Micro League Baseball for the Atari 800 XL. Anyone ever play this? It was mostly stat based with some rudimentary graphics.

loved that game. Very realistic. Had lots of team discs too that I used.

I knew there was a reason you know your sports games and make the best sliders, Heel; you played Micro League at a young age, lol.

That's right, team discs. You could even edit your players ratings way back then (I used to cheat against my brother by jacking up players speed ratings, etc.)

For some goofy reason this game gave Wade Boggs a speed of 5/5 so I used to bunt him on all the time, lol. My brother would get ticked off everytime. He did the same against me with Mookie Wilson of the Mets though. Dwight Gooden was a MONSTER in that game. Struck out a ton of guys.

I can't remember now if that game (Microleague) had a stadiums disc or if it had correct stadiums.

You know, that's one game I never had, but wanted. It looked really good, but I did not have the system. I was using Genesis (and PC) at that time, I think.

It looks like from the video you could control the pitch after you threw the pitch? I remember when baseball games used to allow that. I think that's how RBI worked right? And Bases Loaded too correct?

That stance for A-rod, was way off, lol. Pretty good looking game for its time period.

I played that game alot with the 79' Pirates "We Are Family" team with Stargell, Dave Parker, Omar Moreno, Phil Garner, Bill Madlock, John Candeleria, Mike Bibby, Bert Blyleven and Kent Tekeluve. That was an awesome team. I also enjoyed playing with the '84 Tigers, they were special, too. That was the 1st video BB game that focused on stats.

I'm 42. The first baseball game, other than real baseball, I played involved using baseball cards. I don't remember exactly how we played, but we'd use the stats on the cards then somehow determine where the ball went, if the fielder fielded it etc.

Then we had that red blip handheld and Atari 2600 baseball where it became common to hit hundreds of HRs a game.
