Jim, my middle name is Freiderich (named after my grandfather, who was from Germany).

Mine is Frederick (same thing, but not German).

Capa, this was my game as a kid also. Did you play night games too? I removed the lights from Monday Night Football electric game I had and built a grandstand to support the light structures.

So yes, the show makes my day.

I'm 24 but was never into sports games as a kid. I remember going to toys'r'us couple times a week to play MLB featuring ken griffey. That was about the only baseball game I played til I got HH2001 then hh2005 and been playing baseball ever since.

I'm 45, and I also appreciate this topic! I love sports games. That's pretty much all I play, and I also played for HOURS those hand held Mattell games. I have been playing XBOX360 - NHL 09 for about six months. Friday I am going to buy a brand new PS3, with MLB 09 THE SHOW!! Spring is here!!! PLAY BALL!!!

Man, I wanted that Intellivision game so bad, but I had an Atari VCS and my parents couldn't justify buying me one. That was miles ahead of Homerun on Atari. At least Atari came out with Realsports Baseball later and Mattel made a Baseball game called Super Challenge Baseball. I had both.

I liked Realsports better. There was a funny glitch where you could just keep winding up and never pitch the ball. It was funny to a young boy.

Yep I was in the same boat. I think when I was finally going to get one I wanted a big instead. It was BMX time here and I wanted a GT.

High Heat 2005 (with Schilling on the cover) doesn't get the credit it deserves. That game looked like shiiite, but played great. I burned countless hours on that game. Great fun. I think its better than MVP Baseball, which is highly overrated. I'd better watch out for the MVP fanboys (like the NFL 2K5 fanboys and Admiral Stockdale (SNL joke), Tenacious with a capital T).
