Re: All you young guys should consider yourselves very, very lucky

    Great thread, guys!

I'm a youngster compared to many of you, but I remember sinking hours into RBI Baseball. Also had the other one, I think it was called Bases Loaded, but the players were so tiny it was annoying.

Also, and I think this may be around the same time, we had a baseball game for the Apple 2GS that we used to input our favorite players and keep stats. I forget it but I sunk hours into sorting through baseball cards for my favorite statistics and putting my dream team against the '27 yankees and such.

OK I love the Bases loaded games. Paste was a freaking stud in that game! I used to hit in on purpose so he would come after my pitcher and get kick out of the game.

Bases Loaded 2 was an all time favorite, I also loved MLBPA Baseball for the Super NES, one of EA's first baseball games. I also still have the disc game where you would spin the arrow to see the hit. I will have to look in my closet to see the name of that game.

I'm 38 and still have those Mattel handhelds. I also have Coleco's head to head baseball handheld. That was a big step up from the 5 innings on Mattel's. I've played baseball games on every console since. It's amazing the difference in 30 years. Us older guys must seem easily impressed to you younger guys, but when you start your gaming with a red LED base runner or a team consisting of 3 jaggy players you would know why.

Thanks for the trip down memory lane! I'm 47 my 1st baseball game was home made. How many remember this. Use a sheet of plywood or sheetrock. Make holes in it slightly bigger than a marble. Then label the holes. Out ,single, etc. Then take the whole board and place the outfield side up on a cinder block. Then the fun part stick a nail through a pen and hammer it into the board. Add 2 more nails at the other end. 1 to stop the pen the other for the rubber band used to propel the bat (pen) at the marble as it rolled down the board to the bat.

I don't have the head to head any more. But I still have the green football and white baseball game. I still play those game every once in awhile. The white football game was the one you couldn't pass in and then the next year models they had the green one with the new feature pass button.

That is sweet. Good thinking there.

Having played both versions, EWB was even better on the Amiga. The ball physics and sound were top notch and the game played a very accurate game of baseball. The batter/pitcher interface was simple, but but very well done.

                          DUDE!

I'm 15 but when I was like 9 my aunt and uncle bought me one. It was like remade as a 'classic' but it was exactly what you're talking about!

I'll "high five" you on that, Jim....but, not too "high". I'm not sure my feet leave the ground anymore when I jump. My friends tell me that my "jump shot" is now a "squat shot".

That is because you guys are ANCIENT. Though I am only 37 and I feel ancient. Oh well, life goes on! Jim and you are a great role models for us though. I hope I am still playing games when I reach your guys age.
