Someone Please Save This Game For Me

This game is really starting to piss me off... Last year i couldnt keep 08' out of my PS3 and this year i can barely keep 09' in my PS3. The amount of computer comebacks are absolutely ridiculous. Im 52 games into my Brewers Franchise, and i am 14-38... 31 out of those 38 losses i had the lead in the ball game. I am just so absolutely sick and tired of pitching a great game then have some travis ishikawa or matt laporta come in the game and out of nowhere get power and take the lead. I play on All Star, last year i played on Hall of Fame and didnt have this problem. When i pitch i change pitch speeds and pitch to the cold zones.. when i bat i am patient and try to take until i get 2 strikes.. just finished a game..

    SF- 0 2 0 0 0 1 0 3 2
    MIL-1 0 0 0 2 0 1 2 1

Everytime i score, the cpu comes back the next inning and scores more, its getting really ridiculous and am about to throw this game away... any suggestions? And is anyone else having the same problem?

Your just going to get the standard answers on this one. Your best bet is just to drop to veteran. Sure you can pay more attention to matchups, confidence, switch the comeback option, blah, blah that everyone will post but just go on a lower difficulty until you either sort out the pitching issue or just deal with it.

I frankly am the opposite. I tried to love 08 and couldn't because of the million hits. I do struggle with the bullpen in both games. I don't know why really but i do. I hope you figure out whatever the trick is and then share it with me

There's a huge thread in this section of the forums that has people that struggled with the CPU coming back on them. They decided to turn the "CPU Comeback AI" to ON, instead of OFF. It doesn't make sense when you look at it, but these people were getting real results doing this.

      Try it out, at least.

I'm having a hard time enjoying this game as well. I can't hit to save my life. I went through a stretch where I could get 10+ hits a game, but couldn't score runs. Now I can't hit at all and the CPU gets to two strikes, fouls off four pitches and then hits the next one for a double.

It seems impossible to judge what kind of pitch is being thrown and the timing makes no sense. Swing and miss, let me check the swing analysis, perfect? What the hell is up with that?

The only blowouts that happen are against me. The games that I've won have all been close. BORING!!!!!!!

Every game is the same thing. Pitch well for a few innings. Score a run. Watch the CPU score five runs in the next inning or two. Get men on base, CPU pitcher gets better instead of losing confidence. I lose the game. Rinse and repeat.

I also forgot to mention the amount bad strike calls by the umpires in the CPU's favor. I've given up so many runs on perfect pitches not being called in my favor. It even happens two pitches in a row sometimes. Kinda ruins being able to pitch effectively when you have to put everything in the middle of the plate sometimes.

Try turning off the variable strike zone then.

              There's a tough fix

I want some variety, but the feature is poorly implemented.

There are also threads on "Pressing X makes you run faster" and "Veteran is harder than Hall of Fame". If you look at the latest thread, the option is reportedly having a different effect for every person. What this tells you is it has little or nothing to do with the setting changed and is simple natural variation.

Try wearing a red shirt when you play the game and see if something you've never seen happens. If enough people do this, you will only hear from the people this worked for.

It's worth noting that more than half the shirts in my closet are now lucky shirts.

Although I do agree about the umpires favoring the CPU a lot more than the User, the rest of your complaints are objective.

I mean, why bash the game because you can't hit? I admit it's a lot more difficult than previously, but it's also very rewarding once you start getting better.

I personally like the challenge, as long as it feels "fair" (i hope that doesn't startle the conspiracy theorists from the other thread).

Last year, I got tired of having a team batting average of .320, and leading the league in most offensive categories and pitching too.

People are now hitting .275 on All-Star (which is realistic), and complaining because they arn't bashing homeruns left and right.

I just hope SCEA doesn't go back to last year, or something like in 2k9 where it feels like a beer league softball game.

Maybe they can add a much easier difficulty setting, but keep the more rewarding difficulties for the hardcore people.

Re: Someone Please Save This Game For Me

I had the same problem. I moved down to veteran, and bumped up all the user sliders. Its better now. I am actually in the middle of a 3 game winning streak. I am 12-13 with the Indians right now, and one game out of first lol.

I was scoring maybe 1 or 2 runs a game. After the changes I am averaging about 5 now. I am still not seeing a lot of extra base hits though. That would be my biggest complaint right now.

This game is just flat out hard. Last year I played on the highest level and dominated. Its been tough to find a happy medium between realistic and frustrating.

                          They do, they have rookie.

People would rather complain that they can't hit at the higher levels than move down though.

Logic says, if I can't hit on All star and it is ruining my experience, move down until I find a level that suits me and makes me enjoy the game.

edit: not talking about anyone in particular or in this thread. Just my observation since game has been released.

                            Yea, that too. Heh.

I've seen several posters from here that play on Legend or Hall of Fame, and making these same complaints. It's such an ego thing. They played on HoF last year, so they refuse to move down to All-Star etc.

I personally started on Veteran...realized "ok i will have to work hard at this". Ended up going down to Rookie after a couple games, until I got the hang of it more. Moved back up to Veteran, took more learning bumps and frustrations, but now am playing on All-Star and it feels perfect blend of difficulty, yet rewarding. I actually get pumped up when I hit a homerun or come through with runners in scoring position. I feel like I have to work for everything.

Sure, I've had my share of complaints too, but now I'm tweaking it with the sliders and enjoying the game.

i see what you all are saying, i have bumped down to veteran and noticed a little change, but the computer still makes crazy comebacks..i started a fantasy draft franchise i had cc pitching he threw a 2 hitter into the 8th then gave up four runs to the bottom of the lineup..things like this do happen in real life, i do understand that..but they seem to happen every game to me, wish there was a COMP Comeback slider.. oh yeah and to the people who say turn comp comeback on... yah doesnt work, i turned it on one game, and the craziest thing happenned, the computer came back, again..unrealistically... i think scea needs to send me 55 bucks in the mail for a new controler cuz this game is ridiculous..haha
