    Re: injured players

Does anyone remember Triple Play 2000 (?) I believe...where if a player was injured or fatigued, he would run slower on the bases and not be as agile in the field.

In addition, I think that when getting beaned by a ball the batter's ratings, depending on where they are hit, should be altered. (Like if they got drilled in the knees, their range on the field and their baserunning speed should be affected).

If you drill too many batters in a game, or in a period of time, there should be fines and suspensions given out. This way you risk losing your ace for a start or two, or getting points during your RttS career. Another good thing would be to have the number of batters you hit affect your "reputation", so to speak, so that when you become a free agent, teams may not be so inclined to sign you because they fear their other stars could get hurt due to your propensity to bean players on the other team.

As for fights and brawls breaking out, I don't think we'll ever see it in a game. The MLB and the MLBPA use an ostrich-like reaction to fights in the sport. They think that if they just stick their head in the sand and pretend that they don't happen, they will just go away. As a result, I don't believe they will ever approve of having fights simulated in a baseball game. A good solution would just be to have a cut-away and then a screen comes up stating that "so-and-so has been ejected" and after the game give out fines and/or suspensions. That "might" be something that the MLB/MLBPA could agree with, but it's not something I'm counting on.

Speaking of ejections, I think it would be nice if they could expand on the arguing with umpires possibilities and maybe have that lead to a fine or suspension if the argument got "too intense".

Can't say I do. I was fully entrenched in High Heat back then and never touched the Triple Play series after playing a few of the prior issues.

One more thing I just thought of in regards to fines. The fines should be given out to the franchise, this way a player who spends a lot of time drilling guys on other teams may face a problem at the end of the year when a good deal of his income was blown on fines for hitting batters. Then, when his star player is up for a new contract, he can't re-sign him because he doesn't have enough money thanks to the fines.

That's lame but I forgot about the MLB's stance on fighting. It is a big part of the game so hopefully they could work something out, or like you said issue suspensions or something without the visual depiction of fighting. I also think some sort of reputation rating is a good idea as well. I also like the idea from the other poster of having reduced effectiveness, as an option to getting injured and put out of a game.

In regards to retaliation, a tit-for-tat would work in exhibition games but would be too generic for season/franchise. It would be great to have CPU logic that keeps track of how many batters are hit with every team played. For example, lets say you play a 3 game series and the CPU comes out pitching aggressively inside and plunks three of your batters during the series. Well guess what? Next time we play them later in the year I'm gonna be throwing hard stuff inside, and if someone gets hit then "Oh well." I'm not going to intentionally hit someone unless they continue pitching that way and hit another batter. And The CPU logic will understand this, and unless they want their players exposed to injury they are going to have to keep the ball away from my guys.

It would also be great if the CPU could track animations when batters get backed off the plate as well. For example if you throw at the feet and the batter dances but the ball doesn't hit him. The reason for this is so you can look at the history of how a team is pitching to you. Ok the Mariners have hit 4 of our batters this year and backed 6 of our guys off the plate. Meanwhile, we have hit none of their players and only backed two off the plate. Time to start sending a message!

So things like this can change your gameplan and approach in-game and during the whole season. Back in 2006 the Angels were getting plunked left & right and backed off the plate by the Rangers. The umps were trigger happy with warnings so the Angels were patient and didn't retaliate until the end of the year. In the last inning they said goodbye to the Rangers by nailing two batters and trying to hit a 3rd. That's why a "You hit one of our guys, so we're going to hit one of yours" is too basic. It's much more complex than that.

Re: Put your "wishlist" things HERE (even though it's too late for The Show '10)

Here's another wish I have. I'd like to see the game be more "friendly" to people that are married with kids. Rare is the time I can sit down for a full game and play both pitching and hitting. I understand I can save games but I wish there was more customization.

Here's an example: Let's say today I have alot of stuff to do around the house - yardwork, take the dog for a walk, handyman stuff, and whatever else the wife wants. I fire up my show franchise and in pre-game options I select 'lead off hitter' and 'pitch the 9th inning.' This means the computer will play everything out, except when my leadoff hitter is at bat. The game will then pause and wait for me to finish that at bat. Then, when the 9th inning rolls around it will pause and wait for me to pitch the 9th inning.

In between I'll be doing the stuff I need around the house, but will get that occasional break to play The Show - and the wife will be happy that I'm not sitting on my rear for two hours straight. In addition, it gives you that realistic feel of coming into some tense situations. Suppose your batter is up with the bases loaded and your team is down by two runs? That's intense and you will only get 3-5 at bats in the game so you have to make every one of them count. And how frustrating would it be to get your little gaming break, only to pop-up on the first pitch?

Personally I enjoy pitching better than hitting, but would like to just pick one batter and play out his at bats during a season. So after I'm done pitching and retire the side I'll be able to get things done around the house while the CPU plays out my offense until my "chosen one" comes up to bat.

the meter is absolutely brilliant; a near-perfect video game adaption of real life pitching.

I think it would be good for in a season if the stats could keep track if a pitcher/batter owns a particular team.

                  Like for instance...

The announcers could mention that say Jake Peavy has been particularly tough against the Tigers and then show his stats against them for the season.

A bit like the cut scenes when they'd show the ERA leaders from the past season.

This could also go onto batters as well.

I'm not sure what would be needed to get this but I think it'd be a real nice addition if it can make it into the game somehow (I don't mean 2010 just The Show in general).

I also remember in ASB you could charge the mound. You wouldn't actually fight they batter would charge and it would stop once he got to the mound a screen would pop up saying he's been ejected and so on and so forth. That was revolutionary back then LOL! I liked MVP and how players could be suspended I always thought that was a cool and realistic feature.

And that's why I brought up Classic pitching. And yet again, every time I post my concerns, many people miss the entire point - they need to make this game flexible, I'm not saying it has to be one way or another, but they're missing out on a HUGE audience by simply not adding flexiblity.

You entirely missed my point of making this game flexible. Sliders that actually worked would go a long way to making this game actually please a LOT more people. I'm not looking to ruin the game for those who already like it.

I'd like some acknowledgment from commentaters and e-mails and stuff.

Make it seem like franchise mode is actually happening. Something like...

"After a dismale '10 season, they turned it around with an 85 win season last year. Let's see if they can build on that."

"A big move this offseason was for Tim Lincecum. A trade that caught most people off guard."

Things like that. Obviously I'm late, but I hope those things are in there.

I just thought of another little thing that could make the game look and feel a bit more realistic.

Whenever you throw a pitch, it shows in the strike-zone the pitch type, speed, and rotation. I'm not sure if we can turn this off since I never checked.

Anyways, I thought it would be cool if instead of showing the speed in the strike-zone to show it on the scoreboard at the top of the screen, like they usually do on TV broadcasts.
