Re: Strategy for completing multiple franchise years

After playing every game of my 2010 Franchise, I've realized that in order to accomplish what I want to in 11', I'll need to come up with a sim strategy.

I've been messing around lately with a 'play 2, sim 1' strategy. The stats look really good, and it's cool, because they're mostly mine.

However, that still means that I'm playing 108 games per season, not counting Spring Training games and (hopefully) every game of the Playoffs.

I don't really want to do the 'play 1, sim 2' strategy in order to shorten things up a bit. Does anyone have any idea how I can mostly play 2 out of 3, but get that 108 somewhere closer to the 80's-90's?

I could just sim some additional games when a pitching matchup seems boring... i.e. every game Freddy Garcia starts for me! LOL

For MLB 10, I started simming every half inning my team was pitching and only played when my team was hitting. While this pretty much ignores the pitching game, the hitting stats were all mine and and I had alot of control over every game my team played.....as opposed to having virtually no control over the outcome of all the games you decide to sim. I figure this method to roughly take about the same time as it takes to play out 81 games, or half the season.

Um, the last baseball game I bought was World Series Baseball 2K3. I have played seven complete seasons of 162 games + playoffs. No simming whatsoever.

I plan to get this game and do something similar.

The trick to it is just play a game a day. Before you know it, it's October.

If you win 2 or lose 2 to start a series, sim the third.

The every 5 games is a nice way to do it I guess, but I don't like how that would effect my offensive numbers. They wouldn't really be your numbers, they would be the computers. I dont like it.

Play 1, Sim 3 is a real nice strategy. I started this the other day in my 2000 Mets season and I'm already 16 games into the season. It was hard for me to accept the sim results (I usually play every game), but once I did roll with the punches, it allowed me to see how much more I could get out of this game if I am actually able to play through multiple seasons, instead of plodding along trying to get in 162 games.

This strategy will not only allow me to enjoy The Show, but I won't feel as guilty for playing NBA 2K11, which I have a lot invested in as well.

                    I think I like this...

So whether I play or sim a game (using the play 2, sim 1 approach), I'd force myself an extra game simmed if the series begins 2-0/0-2.

                    Example: (4 game series)

Play 2 (win, win), and sim 2 (one because of the sim rule, and another because I won 2 in a row to START the series).

                    Or:

Coming off of two played games from the previous series...

Sim 1 (lose), play 1 (lose), and by rule, I'd have to sim the 3rd game.

That's great!!! This should definitely turn my 108 into somewhere near 80-90!!!

Thanks Cabrera! Now...how do I actually suck it up and accept that simming is completely okay and not the end of my digital baseball world?!.......

What I have done for quite some time is to play the game until I lose. Once I lose a game, I will sim games until the cpu loses a game then I will take over and do the same thing.

Also, I sometimes will just play the games that 2 or 3 certain pitchers start and do it that way.

I do what some of the others do. That is Play the Season Opener then sim to the #2 starter. Play that then sim to the No 3. starter, etc. I also will throw in a Minor League game in my organization here and there. Once I am eliminated I will just sim the rest of the season. If I make the playoffs I play every game from then on. If I am close at the end of the season say the last 2 weeks I will start playing every game as well. I will also play the playoffs if one of my minor league teams makes the playoffs.

I am a Phillies fan so it wasn't until '08 that I actually had a decent enough team to finally make the playoffs. I just recently decided that in these sports games that I am going to actually play the World Series, NBA Finals, etc when it gets to the last game just to see the celebration from the championship. I flip a coin, home is heads, tails is away team.

I am looking forward to 2011. I skipped last year because I was out of work and now hearing that next year is the franchise improvement year it has me thinking of skipping again but I don't want to do another summer with no baseball game since I didn't play at all last year after trading 09 in.

After thinking about it (and digging this thread up), I will probably alternate between playing a full game, only pitching in the next, and then only hitting the next game. I want my stats to have a big influence, but I don't have time to play all 162 FULL games. This will atleast cut the gametime in half for 2 out of every 3 games, resulting in many more games being played.

I did the play one sim 5 thing last year. Really enjoyed it until my PS3 ylod on me.

This year I'm going to use two teams and play rotate the teams by days. The first game I will use the Rockies and sim the Tigers game and vice versa.

I think what I'll do this year is play the first game of every series....Throw the first month it'll look like this.....1,4,2,5,3,1,4,2,1

After calculating this system is appears the numbers would be like this....

                                Number 1=13
                                Number 2=8
                                Number 3=12
                                Number 4=7
                                Number 5=12
