I'm wondering if anybody tested manage mode on community day. Specifically, does confidence still have an inordinate influence on the game?

Thanks to Pared for a great write-up. Finally got to read some solid gameplay impressions - particularly about hit variety and defense which I was concerned about.

A few other questions:

1) Is the DH fatigue fixed for MLB 10? DHs got way too tired last year.
2) What has been done to the starter vs. reliever fatigue? The starter was generally good but relievers need to tire faster (at default) and regain their health faster so they can still pitch an inning almost every day.
3) Any new baserunning options or has that stayed the same? Ie. can I overrule the cpu when using auto baserunning like MVP 05?

The commentary has remained largely the same. Some new lines here and there but no dramatic changes.

The commentary in this game has taken years to generate and you really cannot turn on the dime. Well you could but it would not be very deep. I suspect changes coming with this in the future.

I am hoping that Sony is already working on over hauling the entire commentary. And maybe the reason its has not changed in MLB 10 The Show is because like everything else that goes into the game it just takes alot of time and when its ready it will be in.

Like the new player models for example. When its ready its ready


That's what I am hoping for anyway.


I would kill to have commentary like MLB 2K9 and soon to be MLB 2K10 in MLB The Show!

So lets all hope and prey that MLB The Show's commentary gets a full make over in the next few years!

Like I said before everything about MLB The Show screams "NEXT GEN" except the commentary.

Has the fans cheering been improved?

Like for example when the home team takes the lead late in the game do they keep the noise going or does it get quiet?

The fans seem to be well aware of the situation. I did see some instances where I would have liked to see more craziness. Start of a playoff series, 1st inning, two quick outs and two strike count on the batter... I wanted them rowdy, and they were just a little noisy.

The playoff atmosphere is very noticeable though.

Do Fans hold up sign like "LETS GO PHILLIES"

Can users create our own signs?

I didn't notice any signs and there was no custom signage option.

Commentary stays true to form. Outside of 2k's recent technology, The Show's commentary is still the best in the business. The amount of dialogue that is there just can't be touched.

Not really nemesis. It could easily be done. 2k did it last year with thier game and it was great commentary and it is supposed to be alot better this year less repetative. So it can bedone

"Easily" be done. I laugh heartily at that statement, considering it has taken 2k YEARS to implement a sound commentary system in their game. You have no idea what "easy" is.

Again, The Show has greater content but the delivery and fluidity in 2k's commentary is better. Give them both credit, as each has their own strength.

You just said it yourself the first year it was repetitive. I did not say it could not be done but if they do it, they want it rich the first time around.

Maybe they will fix it before release?
