I'm a lot nicer of a person than you think.

I have Batbear standing guard for me anyway, so I think I would have survived EN's air strike.

This is great, I could never tell how many people I would have on the 40-man roster in my franchise unless I was over the 40-man limit.

re: Community Day Questions, Answers, and Impressions

I'm almost all about gameplay, and I really haven't heard much about gameplay changes this year. Don't get me wrong, I'm loving all of the visual improvements I'm reading about; however, the thing I'm most excited about is the new throwing meter.

I really hope the swing timing is still pretty much the same in 10 because it was a huge gameplay improvement in '09 that took the game to the next level IMO, you could actually pull inside pitches!!!

The off-the-bat physics could definitely be improved. In '09, balls off the bat were still hit too hard (especially by the CPU). I did see bloopers here and there (they were there) but happened far too infrequently for my tastes.

I hope they kept the fielder diving approximately the same. I know there were a lot of complaints saying diving was too hard, but after playing a good handful of games in '09, I thought the diving was spot on. I hope we never go back to the horrible vacuum dives of '08.

Have they fixed the blasted 3rd baseman positioning which allowed pretty much any dribbler down the line to get through for a hit? The 3rd baseman positioned too far off the line also greatly affected ground balls in the hole (between SS and 3B).

Are there much better collisions at 2nd base and the pitcher's mound? In '09, you couldn't breakup double plays at 2nd. The only way a DP would not be turned is if there was a dropped transfer (Oh, and do dropped transfers happen too often like in '09?). I'm not asking for a collision detection system, I just would like to see a few animation sequences at 2nd showing a DP being broken up by the slide. Lastly, there was a horrible pitcher animation in '09 where a batted ball bounced of the pitcher. Did they remove this or improve it?

Oh, and one visual improvement question, did they fix the wall along the left field line at Wrigley?

Could one of the Event Attendees possibly give us some info regarding the 'focus test'?

Swing timing is the same, you just have better control of your check swings and they are more specific in relation to where the ball is. You are able to make contact on the check swings this year which is nice.

More hit variety has been added. There are some nice high choppers in the game that will go over the infielders head and into the outfield!

Diving feels good this year and if you miss the ball will deflect off the player sometimes depending on the situation

This seems the same to me. I will ask about this.

There are more specific animations at second where the fielder will sometimes get the ball off and sometimes he will not. There is a nice new kart wheel animation the fielder goes into as he is taken out by the runner. Also, I have not seen the transfer scenario at all so far.

There are also different animations of pitchers being hit by batted balls on different parts of their body.

Have any of you guys played any games at the Historical Ballparks? I was just interested in seeing what ya'll though about them, and how they looked. Thanks...

Thanks for all the great info guys. Just curious, did Pared ever make it out to the event? I know he was listed as one of the chosen attendees, but I haven't seen any posts by him in the last couple of days.

This is nice! I just hope that they put a number at the top or bottom with the number of players on each list. In 09, you had to count to make sure you had the correct number..........unless I have been missing something!

Thanks a lot for responding to my questions. If they don't fix the 3rd baseman positioning, which is a huge problem, I really don't think I'll buy this year's game.

That's quite unfortunate if that's the case. While I don't agree with this gamebreaking decision, I can understand it as it's just like anything else gameplay-wise for anybody that feels there is something that must be pertinent to be able to play above a preceding version of the game (like for instance I didn't play online last year because of no check swings, among other reasons).

But I gotta be honest, I bet the developers will do everything they can to make sure this fix is in for you, even if you get your own setting.

I lived with the mispositioned 3rd baseman last year, I'm not going to live with it this year. It really throws off ground ball plays on the whole left side of the infield. Really if you think about it, it effects a rather large portion of total plays. There are more ground balls hit than fly balls and most of those grounders are hit to the left side because a majority of hitters bat right handed. Therefore, a large chunk of plays (perhaps the largest percentage) are actually grounders hit to the left side, which isn't realistically represented in the game due to the misplaced 3rd baseman. I really don't think I'm asking the game to be customized for me in this instance, I'm just asking for realistic gameplay.

And, I seriously hope they made Legend even harder than last year

Any comments on the difficulty of throwing strikes? This is very important to me as walks are way off and as such so many other user stats are junk. In general I am interested in gameplay stuff. I am always amazed at the fever over fireworks etc.

                              Thanks

I love the option that I can bring in my relief pitcher when I'm at bat,

                                BUT,

what happens afterwards if it's the pitcher's turn at bat (NL) and I wanna pinch the hitter? I hope the game does let me substitute the old one, then automatically when my team is on the field it changes the PH with the relief pitcher.

                                Thanks CD attendees.
