Re: Who would you REPLACE the Commentary Team with...

After playing this for a week straight, it is an absolute MUST that they get rid of Soup and Hudler. It's just bad and stale now.

So yes, after watching countless hours of MLB Network (it's what I do when I'm not playing the show), I am beyond convinced that Al Leiter and Harold Reynolds show join Matty in the booth on this game. Al and HR's chemistry is top notch and we already know they can work with Matty V. Just get the MLBN integration going for next year! Please!

Either Pat Hughes and Ron Santo

      Or

Bob Uecker and Jason Bateman (the announcer from Dodgeball)

I cant believe no one caught this, i thought it was funny

I would love Uecker since I love "Major League", but I like keeping Matty V and adding Harold Reynolds and Al Leiter.

Side note. Harold is from Corvallis,OR home of the OSU Beavs... He was there for some baseball camp and one night we were out at a bar and he started hitting on my cousins wife, lol no wonder he got fired at ESPN lol

The "voice of the Indians" Tom Hamilton. Always enjoyed listening to him call the games on the radio. I actually mute the game on tv sometimes just listen to him lol.

On a side note, I'm going to go nuts if I hear "young pitchers are like tea bags...you dont know what you got until you see them in hot water" one more time. I swear I get this line every time my RTTS SP gives up a single.

            thats their fault.

            awesome.
but i highly doubt sony changes anything in th booth next year.
they have had these guys for a while and they have done nothing to make it more interesting.
even my girlfriend hates listening to the announcers in this.
she said they sound like madden in the ps2 game game i have.

My vote would be for Mike Krukow and Duane Kuiper. I don't know why someone commented about "putting a flame suit on" but I find Krukow and Kuiper extremely entertaining with unique and fresh voices.

Plus, I can't help but reminisce about the old MVP Baseball days. That was a hella fun baseball game with a great broadcast duo!

Re: Who would you REPLACE the Commentary Team with...

I think Michael Kay is an excellent commentator, and would like to see him in the game. And I'm not biased because I am not even a Yankee fan, for the record. I've heard him occasionally and he is definitely one of the better ones in baseball.

I nominate Ron Darling, and maybe even Gary Cohen, but definitely not Keith Hernandez. He makes me laugh during actual Mets games, but I think the devs need to avoid jokes in video games, because it doesn't matter how funny they are, you are just going to end up hearing them over and over. I'd rather only hear conversation relevant to baseball, that way, if it's the same thing they said this morning, it's still inconspicuous, because it still fits the situation at hand. I am playing a Rays franchise at the moment, and everytime I hit a line drive with Sean Rodriguez I want to cringe, because sure enough, they feel the need to talk about sting rays literally every single time.

I agree the current team really isn't that bad at all though, it's the lines that are just terrible. The devs need to just let the guys provide commentary for an actual game together, and note the lines they use, instead of trying to create their own scripted lines. "That's the same pitch except for the part where it's different?" yeah... no...

However I have to stop laughing after reading this quote on Darkfudge's website first...

-----one item snipped from a list of improvements article--------------------

                      +ADD NEW Commentary Team:
The analogy I can make here is it's like upgrading your wedding suite each year from Perry Ellis, to Hugo Boss and eventually an Armani but still wearing it with the same old scuffed up Florsheim shoes you got years ago. Besides the fact that Matt Vasgergian and Rex Hudler are just dull and have no electricity whatsoever, their commentary is starting to get old and tiring. Next, to the 'oragami' guy, Dan O'Keefe at 2K Football, The Show's commentary team borders on the most annoying in sports games. It's time to kick these guys to the curb and compliment your award winning game with an equally deep and talented baseball commentary team, ...Hell, I'd even settle for hockey guys, like Doc Emrick or Gary Thorne just to get some excitement an energy into the booth!

I personally would love a Joe Buck ....and isnt Gary Thorne also a baseball commentator too? I could swear I heard his voice in the just released MLB 2K10 demo?
Bob Costas and Bob Uecker lol Should be some good one-liners in there... "JUST a bit outside" haha

I dislike Tim McCarver, it's like listening to a walking dictionary. Everything out of his mouth is some extravagant metaphor. lol

I'm pretty happy with what is in the game. One I would like to have, is Bob Ueker though.

What I've wanted as far as commentary goes though, is a Commentary Mode. Something to where you could plug in a microphone, and do the play-by-play for a game yourself. Then maybe have it set up where you can put it up on Sportsconnect or Youtube, that kind of stuff.

I would to see a MLB Network team. Matt V is in. So add Smoltz and Bob Costas. It probably would be a huge exspense.
