Re: Who would you REPLACE the Commentary Team with...

It would be cool if there is an option to change the commentary team... likely not happen but somebody brought up the idea of selling plug-in packages for different announcers...

I guess I'm not with most people because I didn't mind Rex Hudler at all. He was colorful at least.... Heck I wouldn't even mind Tim McCarver... grew up watching Mets games with him for so long that he kinda set the standards for me (fortunately or unfortunately).

It really doesn't matter as much who does the commenting IMO, because there are so many repeated actions that no matter how good they are, their comments get old quickly.

What would be cool, at the very least though, is very good play-by-play commentary, as if you follow the game like listening to radio. So I'd like to see someone who just does solid job in that area.... Someone like Vin Scully or Bob Murphy... who can just do it all alone. Matt V. is already fine as is I guess.

It'll never happen but Dick and Bert are great for the MN Twins. I've always liked that combo. They are considerate to both teams and while they may be filled with a lot of optimism they both do very well in what they try to accomplish as a team.

Dick Bremer and Bert blyleven from the Minnesota twins. They have great chemistry and are very understandable and exciting.

This video shows how they react with a walk off. Good stuff...... Quality isn't great though

Minnesota Rally, Dick and Bert are really good. However, real announcers often don't have the most time available to record sound clips for a video game. I really quite honestly wouldn't mind if they find two or three no namers who can devote their time to produce a top notch broadcast presentation. Of course being enthusiastic and knowledgeable is a must. Create a voice of The Show!

Skip and Pete! But since that's not possible, I'd settle for Don Sutton and Jim Powell. Yes, I'm a homer, but I love my team's announcers (with the exception of Chip).

I want Rod Allen in the game. Guy's such a goof.

It does not matter who they choose.

Before the game, when they did the pre-game introductions, and showed them in the booth, the color of their ties would not be the same exact shade that the real announcers wear, so therefore the game would be a total bust, and would need to be patched and overhauled with regard to the color content.

                        Let alone color commentary.

I can't wait until the day these games are so advanced that they can digitally replicate classic announcers like Mel Allen or Phil Rizzuto or some such.

Imagine having a menu of available announcers?

Ignoring the licensing complications, something like that would probably several generations away.

                          Fun to think about tho.

Although it wouldn't happen, Kevin Millar would be real fun commenting the game. I'd probably lose most of my games from laughing at his comments. But on a more realistic note, I would LOVE to hear Jon Miller commentating as he did in 2K7.

In a perfect world, I think most everyone would love to have their hometown team's broadcasters call MLB The Show. Unfortunately that may never happen, even if it were DLC on the PSN. The amount of money, man hours and potential bugs it would create would probably be exponential. We can still dream though, right?

Personally, I'd like to see the ESPN team of Dan Shulman, Orel Hershiser, and Bobby Valentine. Shulman has a good play by play voice and I love the way Orel and Bobby talk about the game. Specifically, Orel knows pitching really well and bobby seems to know a little bit about every aspect of the game (hitting mechanics, fielder footwork, etc.).

One thing I'd love to see go away when it comes to commentary is when either Soup or Karros try to guess what pitch is coming next. It's usually wrong and puts a second pitch and location in the back of your head. When you play with guess pitch off, it can be pretty annoying.

I also don't really like it when the broadcasting team makes a reference to me. Call the game as you see it; as if I'm not even controlling the players on the field. The more authentic, the better.
