Re: MLB09: Game won't start without PSNetwork connection?
I just flipped mine on to watch a movie, and the date and everything on it is correct....it's a newer "fat" model that isn't PS2 compatible, so maybe that's the problem. So hopefully I'm good come tuesday. For those that aren't, man I hope this gets fixed pronto. Like I said in another thread, I hope this isn't something with a chip inside and Sony winds up having to repair them.Comment

Re: MLB09: Game won't start without PSNetwork connection?
Mine is affected by this problem, its an old "fat" 60 gig. Can't connect to the network and the year is now 1999. Tried to play some Dead Space anyway, and kept getting an error because the game tries to sync trophies every time you load it up. Didn't try any other games though, just decided to shut the ps3 off as I didn't want to mess anything up.
I hope this is all sorted out by Tuesday, I took two vacation days to get some good MLB10 play time this week!Comment

Re: MLB09: Game won't start without PSNetwork connection?
I turned mine on, an 80GB ... The date was reset to 1/1/2000. I had NHL 10 in it and it fired right up and I could play the game.
I changed the internal clock and date and switched it off. I turned it back on about 15 minutes lagter and tested the PS3 ... And the date was the new date, but the time has moved while the PS3 was switched off. The time works fine while it is on, but not off.
If I can play NHL10 I should be able to play the Show 10, huh?
Totally bloody weird!Comment

Re: MLB09: Game won't start without PSNetwork connection?
Very EYEPOPPING thread/internet topic indeed:
Being a behind the scene follower of operationsports and reader of qualified forum members. I'm here to say I am a first time buyer of a PS3 slim bought online through SonyStyle on Feb 26 Thursday evening and also expedited it for 2day shipping by Fed Ex. So hopefully it should arrive by Tues or Wed.. Also I have already pre-paid the show10 for the extra stadiums which I will pick up first thing tuesday morning.
Upon joining this community late lastnight I really find this topic very important noteworthy news. Speacial thanks for the links to the PSblogs, Tweets, and to that personal link discussing possibilities or probabilities. I really wished not to have stumbled upon this Hot Topic plus I'm also feeling for those that have been affected. I really hope SONY/PSN gets this situation undercontrol & corrected in a reasonable fashion for everyone.
Kind of strange that this unknown phenom is effecting certain PS3 Fats as one should not be woken up with such problems or eye popping news. Especially not before MLB the SHOW 10 hits our store shelves on tuesday.. SONY FACTs & official announcements is what is needed regardles if your a slim/fat owners. As we are all PS3 owners and must stick together regardless if you were effected or not.
Sorry for the long post, just thought I share my contributions & concern.HITTERSAURUS-REX

Re: MLB09: Game won't start without PSNetwork connection?
Nah - looks like it could be an internal clock issue...it's a global problem that Sony are working on...but the silence coming from them is deafening.
My PS3 hasn't been connected at all - as I said, this happened when I powered it on, so it has nothing to do with a PSN problem - it has to be hardware or operating system related.Dedicated member of the CPU v CPU worldwide brethren.Comment

Re: MLB09: Game won't start without PSNetwork connection?
The latest update from neogaf is:
Since it's the internal clock, not the OS clock, they have pinpointed the error as Hardware ... This may correct itself at 0:00GMT, as right now the PS3 is looking for 02/29/2010, a date which doesn't exist.
Hopefully it will correct itself when March 2nd rolls over GMT time ... If not the error is hardware which means firmware updates will be useless ... It would be comparable to the red rings of death on xbox360 ... Meaning an international recall would be the only remedy.
Not sure if that is even possible since we're talking about 2 million plus machines. That'd send Sony broke!Comment

Re: MLB09: Game won't start without PSNetwork connection?
Add me to the list.
I have an 80 gig "fattie" B/C, and just turned it on now out of curiosity....
Got the network error, then the date read 12/31/1999. Manually changed date and time, all good. Popped in 09, all bad. Black screen, no response.
Exited game, checked trophies, gonzo.(They were present before I put 09 in)
I personally don't care about losing trophies. But the post above which stated this could lead to a recall---------that's got me nervous and po'd at the same time. I can't do without my PS3 when The Show releases tomorrow.
I hope that's not the case.
Only thing I hope is at 8pm EST (5 pm my time) the PS3's affected will "restore", as per the neogaf link posted here:
-Wait 24 hours. Other products that have had similar bugs have corrected themselves after the "bugged" day. On Monday around 8pm central time, all PS3s will automatically correct themselves...maybe.Last edited by Segagendude; 03-01-2010, 03:29 PM.Comment
