Re: Consensus: Best Batting View?
I messed around with different views again this year, but WIDE seeds to work best for me. Despite what view I use, my biggest problem is learning patience. Instead of playing the count, I want to swing at everything. It's very rare that I draw a walk. I'm only into my 6th game of spring, but I'm focusing on patience using the WIDE view.Comment

Re: Consensus: Best Batting View?
I'd like to get others opinion on this. By far and away the easiest mode to judge balls and strikes is the outfield or pitcher view. It has some to do with the flight path of the ball, but mostly its because you see where the catcher sets up before the pitch. If the catcher sets up low and away, you know to look low and away. Now, sometimes the pitch is inacurate and it doesn't end up there, but more often than not, it does. This allows you to just focus on one small area, and helps a great deal with judging balls and strikes.
Also, you can see the catchers signs, so if he calls for a fastball, you already know what is coming.
I like the mode, because for people like me who tend to swing at everything because I don't have the reaction time, it allows me to work the count better. But isn't this cheating? Isn't it kind of like having automatic guess pitch where you know where the ball is going each time?Comment

Re: Consensus: Best Batting View?
yeah, i havent tried extensively that outfield and or pitcher view to bat, to me it wouldnt be new to me because years ago when i was last invovled w/ baseball video games that was the 'only' view that game makers could employ. its also probably a little easier to hit because you don't have the visual sensation of speed. i like the ball hurling at me, and arching and all sorts of stuff.Comment

Wide... as I believe it is the real catcher view. The catcher view isn't too bad... its just a little far back for a catcher...Comment

Re: Consensus: Best Batting View?
I play offset because I can read the outside pitch much easier, but I do admit I often get handcuffed swinging on too many inside pitches. In other words it is a little more difficult to read inside pitches, but at the same time I think it gives me a better chance to read the pitch and see the break better than any other view.Comment

Re: Consensus: Best Batting View?
Yeah, I figured people would think the outfield/pitcher views were like cheating since you could see where the catcher sets up. I just wish I could read pitches well enough on my own and react to them in time with the regular view. As it is, I basically have to decide before the pitch whether I'm going to swing or not.Comment

Good thread though as I've been fooling around with many camera angles trying to find which I can find to be more comfortable.Comment

I like to use wide view for hitting. I feel I can distinguish the high/low pitches better.STEAM PROFILE: STEAM_0:1:39676753Comment
