Re: MLB '10 The Show Tips and Work Arounds

hey knight, maybe you can add this to the first page.

    REHAB ASSIGNMENTS
I'm not sure if any of you know this already, but in line of keeping things realistic, I have found a way to put players on rehab assignments.
NOTE: This applies only to players with no options left, as you can send players with options remaining freely to the minors.

    1. When the CPU prompts you on what to do when a player gets injured, select keep active
    2. Before placing him to the disabled list, move him first to the desired minor league level. He will be then placed on waivers.
    3. I am 99% sure (did my testing during the month of June in my franchise) that no team will claim a player who is injured.
    4. After the 2-day waiver period has passed, you can put him in the disabled list.

I wish rehab assignments were in the game as well. I tried this when Manny Ramirez was injured and I wanted him to get his groove back a little bit before playing him again ala IRL.

This may be good for some of you who wants things a little more realistic. I know this is just a video game, but what the hell.

edit: you can make things easier when you are on 30 team control and have global option waivers on manual. i have it on auto though.

    cheers.

Man, I am so confused on this whole trade/30 team control thing. All I want is for teams to not make stupid trades. I don't want to see faces of the Franchise traded. Braves would not trade Jason Heyward at this time, and I don't think the Cardinals would trade Pujols. I just want to oversee the trades and either decline or accept them. I don't want to do anything else with teams. What do I need to have set up so I can just oversee the trades and NOTHING else? Please help me out and thank you.

First, to be able to do this properly, you need to make sure the "Instant Trade " option is OFF BEFORE your franchise is underway (it is not available once you start). Obviously you need to control all 30 teams as well.

The option is defaulted to OFF, so if you are unsure, just initiate a trade with any team. There shouldn't be any instant answer and you'll be able to check to see if the offer is showing under "trade proposals" under the "Pending Transactions" tab. That would be the screen to go to in order to approve/reject offers.

Now, the way you monitor trades is to turn all the teams you don't want direct control over to AUTO for trades. Each day, check the pending transactions for each team and see if they were offered or have offered any trades. If instant trades are off, you have a window ranging up to a few day to go in and manually reject anything you think is out of order.

As a note, instant trades CAN still happen between 2 PC controlled teams, but they don't happen all the time. For me, I have it set up this way, but left trades at manual through mid-June and only turned trades to auto then. That way, the action will all be close to the deadline.

Also, to supplement this, you can impact the types of moves the CPU controlled teams make by manually setting their trade blocks for them. You don't need to add any player even, just update their needs/wants and it will make a big difference on the types of trades offered between teams. The AI will also recognize within this what prospects or depth they have at their positions.

So, for example, if I make the Ranger need pitching, and another team in need of a bat, you might see them offer a package including Chris Davis (since they have Smoak right there) for a pitcher of relative rating.

Anyway, I know that's a lot of stuff, but it does work out great.

Thank you for the very in depth explanation. I just hate seeing Pujols traded for lower level prospects who will never see the majors.

I have found a work around for this. What happens is one of the cpu teams has an invalid roster ie. not enough pitchers or position players.

You must have 30 team control. Go to global profile set roster and lineups to manual. After that you will get a prompt that such and such team has X problem with roster.

Go to team fix roster and then assign profile back to auto.

Thanks to tbarnes for this one!(and a lot of testing!)
i did all of this and my franchise still froze right before year 3. anybody got anything else?

Re: MLB '10 The Show Tips and Work Arounds

Fisrt, sorry guys for this question but I read a lot this forum ans I thought I have understood the way to go with the trades but no.

                  So here's my question:

                  I play with 30-team control, post-patch, using Knight's rosters.
I put trades on manual for my profile and auto for the CPU.
And I want the CPU to offer trades between teams and to my team.
But I want to be the only one to allow a trade or not.

However, with my settings, the CPU will trade and alert me when a trade has been done. There are no notifications in each mailboxes' team as "trade offer" although I checked them each day for each team.

So I tried to put the trades on manual for me and the CPU and simulate. And in that case I don't see any trades offers.

So my question is what am I doing wrong?

go to the pending transactions screen then press R1 until you get to trade offers. press R2 to browse through every team.

This is something I just noticed, and haven't seen anything about anywhere on the forums, it annoyed the heck out of me since I had to start my franchise over because of it, but it could actually come in handy to those of you who do not like the CPU making trades, but don't want to control every team.

When you first start up a franchise, the option that says "CPU Roster Control" may be switched ON or OFF. When switched ON you get an alert telling you something along the lines of budgets and CPU trading being disabled. However, even if you switch it back OFF before you fire up your franchise, the CPU teams will be disabled from trading (I have just verified this with the current incarnation of patch #3).

So, the way I see it, this is worth noting so those who like taking the more fantasy approach in regards to the Show like I do from accidentally disabling non user-controlled trades like I did, but also as an alternate method for keeping CPU teams from trading with each other.

I'm pretty positive, for those of you that like to keep things true to life, that if you use the above method, and make sure you have Force Trades and Instant Acceptance on before you kick off your franchise, you could use your team as a go-between to execute any trade that happens in real-life, and the CPU teams would never trade with each other, without having to go through the trouble of full league control

Maybe I am doing something wrong, but I have been trying to do the contract work around with the current live rosters post patch. After moving them to fa and back they have the same contract and years. Am I doing something wrong or was it changed post patch?
