How did it happen or what did you do to trigger it? Can you recreate it?
I hit a line drive right back at the pitcher. The ball bounces off the ground and the pitcher picks it up. This is ruled as a catch, as you can see the ump signal.

No, it has only happened once that I know of.

I notice in the video that there is a baserunner on second base. Was there perhaps a runner on first base too at the time? The reason I ask is because if there was, perhaps it was the umpire's judgment that the ball was dropped by the pitcher intentionally in order to induce a double play. In such a situation the umpire at his discretion can rule it as a catch & call the batter out.

It may seem unusual for the umpire to make such a ruling on a scorching line drive, but nevertheless he can do so if he feels the ball was dropped on purpose.

Nope, just the runner on 2nd. I didn't even notice that it was called out until I realized my batter stopped running to 1st. I'm guessing it's just a little animation glitch, didn't really affect anything. I did notice that he didn't catch the ball when I was actually playing, so I guess it could screw someone with a runner on first or something, but it's not a huge deal.

Exhibition but I would guess on any mode when you get the cut-scene discribed below.

When you hit a foul ball and the cutscene appears when the player starts waiving to the ball to go fair once the ball goes foul the player goes back to his batting stance without the bat. Happens really fast does not effect anything just looks really odd that it does that. When I first got the game the player used to jump and get upset now it has the weird glitch.

See it everytime I get that particular cut-scene.

Playing as the Rangers at the Twins new stadium. I am on defense in the bottom of the 4th. I throw a pitch and the play results in an E4. Next batter hits a single, runners on 1st and 3rd. Next batter hits a single, runner that reached on E4 does not count towards pitcher's ERA which is correct. Next batter hit's a 3-run homerun, all three runs should count towards the pitcher's ERA, but none do. Two more runs score this inning, both off of clean hits, none count towards pitcher's ERA. Next inning, one run scores off of a HR, it does count towards the pitcher's ERA.

Can you recreate it?

I have not had the same opportunity arise yet.

Everytime you play the Yankees the little notes under the stats as they walk up to the plate are incorrect. It always says Jeter's B.A. is 3rd in A.L. and something else for Tex, and Granderson, and so on. Actually The Yankees seem to be the only team that has these at all (Seem to be removed since last year). It seems these would make sense in exhibition mode since they are the overlay's from the '09 season. It's just a minor annoyance to see them every single game.

Just checking...if the E4 occurred with 2 outs, then none of the runs scored in the rest of the inning should be earned.

Was that the case?

I've heard it does that if you play an exhibition game prior to starting a franchise/season.

Oldman: Ditto with the previous poster, how many outs were there when the error occured? As he said, if there were 2 outs when it occured, all subsequent runs would be unearned.

Wow, I did not know that. There were no outs however in this situation. The error occurred on the first batter of the inning.

To the poster who talked about the line drive hitting the pitcher, then falling to the ground and be ruled an out like the pitcher had caught it, I have also had this happen. When it happened to me there was also a person on second base.

Yeah, I've seen this scenario too, and if you really zoom in on the ball/catch during replay, you can see the ball change directions get sucked into the pitcher's hand before it hits the ground! So, the ump's call is correct, but the "magic bullet" physics is certainly a bug.

When you play Exhibition mode, each ballpark has a fixed set of umpires for every game you play there, and it never changes. The solution would be to have a random set of umpires be changed for every game in Exhibition.

I experienced this same bug/freeze in Franchise mode when I hit my 200th HR with Jose Guillen. It was a great 2 HR, 4 RBI game (in the 5th!) so I was quite irked when the replay kicked on and immediately locked up. I begrudgingly killed the power. Finally about 2 weeks later I hit #200, and held my breath...but it made it through the replay this time. The freezing game was @ Baltimore. Non-freezing @ Boston.

I have had the same thing happen twice now. Guillen hits his 200th career home run and it is a milestone moment. Game freezes during the automatic replay of it. It's really frustrating because both times the home run put me in the lead in the late innings. This is in my franchise and I suppose I'll have to sim until he hits the home run.

When the ball rolls to the outfield wall and you attempt to throw it, the outfielder will run along the wall several feet before throwing it, wasting several seconds

How often can the bug be reproduced?
Anytime an outfielder throws a ball right at the base of the wall (I have only observed it with my RF, so I don't know if it applies to all OF positions or not).
