revamp arbitration/re-signing minor leaguers. it gets annoying having to drop minor leaguers/players stats so im not paying 10 mill to resign a top prospect

      • Create a Stadium/Team
      • Have every player possible that they may miss. (like this year, they missed many)
      • Everyone's batting stance/windup, no generics should be assigned to real players.
      • Weather and double headers.
      • For a new little things feature, maybe have a trivia question given in-game like an Aflack Trivia question.
      • In RTTS, keep track of career stats vs. pitchers. Also, on any player cards, show all career stats on the card, every year they've played in the majors, with the team they were on that year.
These are the things I hope they changed.

Re: What do you suspect will B changed in '11?

I've played this game since it first came out in what, 05 I think, on ps2. I've loved every aspect of this game every year and can say there's only a few points I'd like to see upgraded:

-Revamp training. Add a few more coaches, i.e. bullpen coach, training coach, and even minor league coaches instead of just a minor league evalutor. Have their attributes play a bigger role in the development of players skill also instead of making it all based upon potential rating and a very miniscule "dynamic" performance boost/degradation.

-More purchasing features for training/rehab. Buy a set of equipment, and with time as it degrades, either refurbish the equipment you have or upgrade the equipment to allow for better training results. i.e. a pitching machine that throws curves, sliders. A rehab room that diagnoses injuries quicker with more information. The option to have a player see how is injury heals over time or surgery. There isn't enough options in the end on how to spend money after a few years and having $500m that you can't do anything with.

-The adding seats feature is flawed. No matter how many you buy, it never shows up in the attendance number announced at the beginning of the game. I play with the White Sox and first of all, the default number of seats doesn't even match the sellout number of 40,615. The default number of seats they have for the Sox in the game is over 43,000. Just completely flawed.

-Let the potential system be more variable. I want to know if my "C" potential 2nd baseman is raking in AA and playing great defense, and I move him upto AAA and he does the same, his potential shows his performance...i.e. Jesus Montero for the Yankees and Starlin Castro for the Cubs. They both had been in their systems for a year, and all of a sudden they breakout and are highly touted prospects. And if my stud pitcher can't find the plate for 10 starts and I send him down to AAA and he still can't find the plate, drop his potential/stats faster. i.e. Fausto Carmona. Yeah, he made it back, but it took him a year.

-Give me a DEFINITIVE #1-#3 prospect to draft. There isn't enough variation in prospects to determine a true #1. I want to see a Strausburg/Texiera/Mauer seen on the draft board. And don't give them potential ratings. Let their performance speak for their potential over a year in the minors before he's graded by scouts. For every Strausburg there's 3 Matt Bush's. i.e. San Diego's #1 overall pick from a few years ago that just straight sucked, couldn't play SS and they only picked him for signability. In the end, no matter how potential certain scouts saw in him, he has still never panned out.

-More animations for defensive plays. I hate seeing my 3rd baseman pirouette on balls to his left. How many 3rd basement actually do that?

-A 2nd/3rd/4th option when pressing R1 for pitch selection. And seeing the my catcher/pitcher are crossed up.

Obviously numerous upgrades could be made and who knows what they will include. Overall, I'm always happy with the way I play the game though and I'll keep buying it.

Re: What do you suspect will B changed in '11?

it's hard to suspect what they'll change in '11, easier to suggest what needs to be...

one thing i suspect is, allowing us to rotate the batter view to any angle we want, instead of a fixed set of only wide, catcher, offset, for ex. i think this is what their competitor, 2ksports, already offers.

i suspect they're gonna finally overhaul the broadcast dialogue logic and database. it's tired and is not as dynamic as not only 2k's baseball game, but certainly basketball games, for over a yr now. this is something SCEA has put aside to do other things, long enough. Other broadcast technologies are very responsive to game moments... it got to the point where it seems quite real and on the fly.

along w/ this, the reimplemented homerun derby will be tweaked for better broadcast presentation.. in 2010, seems kind of 'lonely' as you're taking your swings. none of the 'wow... look at that moon shot' by the announcers that adds to the exhibition of the HR derby. also, need to have a bunch of kids running in the outfield to catch flyballs.

i suspect that the collision detection system will be further widened, finally and well needed for years. base runner running through an infielder? sigh.

I suspect there will be implementation of those ball boys along the foul lines.

i also suspect the crowd in the stands will be even more randomed/unique instead of repeating patterns of the same fans.

i suspect there will be more animations, again... but not sure if they will finally roll out the completely new player models... it looked like they could not fit it in last yr, or that it was not a ultra high priority to make it happen, put it that way, and i'm not sure it will be fore 2011 either... as they are toying w/ trending, by way of focusing on 3D gaming. I think 2ksports is gonna do new modelling... because theirs was lagging already from 2009 and 2010 it was evident. I expect they're doing something big for 2011 to keep the momentum they got from 2010, the bounce back from their 2009 dud. Scea needs to keep this on their radar. 2K's pitching motion, particularly the animation for the arm moment and ball release... and in yaku? sports (the japanese bball game), are both better than the shows, 09 +10. For the ball release to look realistic i think is high priority, as we have to see it 100+ times during a game.

i also suspect it's gonna be just as buggy right off the release as every yr is. i thought this yr, w/ the buildup to the release of 2010, w/ the guys flown in to play test etc... that this yr was gonna be so less buggy than 2009 was, but it was so not. it made me preorder 2010 but i likely wont for 2011.

Re: What do you suspect will B changed in '11?

Most importantly I hope they continue to improve on the game play & animations along with fixing many of the problems with the Franchise & RTTS logic. However, from a presentation standpoint the commentary in this game is screaming for an overhaul at this point. The commentary is getting really old, and I'm not just talking about Rex & Dave, but even many of Matt's canned lines are starting to grate on my nerves these days. For example, each time I hear him say that the base coach "had to do a little ole' on that one" I actually start to cringe (many, many more examples like that). I understand that no matter how much they change the commentary it will eventually get repetitive and when this game came out on the PS2 I was amazed at how intuitive it was, but lines like the one I mentioned above have been the same for a number of years now and they make the game feel very stale at times. I really hope that if possible they will add more interaction between the commentators to sound more like a natural back & forth conversation (maybe more of the color commentators elaborating on what the other guy just said). I'd also like to see better use of the stat overlays with interesting factoids popping up throughout the game (seems like this is utilized much better in exhibition mode now, but becomes much more limited in franchise/season modes for some reason). Although I never actually played it, what I've read about that other baseball game's "MLB Today" feature sounds very interesting (in theory) to keep you connected to what's going on in the actual season. I wouldn't mind seeing something along these lines in MLB 11.

I would think that they will almost certainly add some PlayStation Move functionality to MLB 11, but it will most likely just be optional (like the sixaxis sliding & diving is now). No mandatory analog stick hitting or pitching for me either thanks, but if they add it as an option that's great. I'm also dying to see what playing in 3D is like but don't see myself buying one of these sets anytime soon (my 60" Sony is only 3.5 years old and cost me a small fortune). On second thought, I don't even want to see what the game is like in 3D for fear that I'll fall in love with it. Trying to convince my wife to by a new set at this point could cause a rift in my marriage ("but honey, we could just skip those expensive trips to visit your family in Florida" ).

When The Show first came out on the PS2, it really felt like an innovation in sports video games, and did an AMAZING job of capturing the nuances of baseball (still does). Of course this was taken to even greater heights on the PS3. I just hope that they continue to innovate without getting "gimmicky".

We were not quality assurance. SONY, not SCEA, hires a slew of people to do this over a LONG period of development. You would be surprised to see what we find and they change and also implement. It appears the Q&A might get better this year.

The day the game is released there are magically, I would guess, hundreds of thousands of "testers" who appear and put in hundreds of hours more than we ever could in the 2 1/2 days we were there. I have still to see probably 90% of the bugs that were reported in the bugs and glitches thread as the hours one gamer, or a few, put in pales in comparison to all the guys that immediately start dissecting the game on release day.

Pretty much sums it up. And I am in the same boat, I have yet to see 90% as well. Since obviously that is polled from hundreds of gamers putting in thousands of hours. Something I do not see in a normal play through of the game every year.

Re: What do you suspect will B changed in '11?

one thing they can change up on 2011 is to bring in a female voice for commentary, or for the pregame/ post game stuff.

the other thing is, i think people have said in the show, the crack of the bat is a diff. sound for say a HR vs non hr... i'm not so sure...

i just watched some demos of 2ksports, not hr, just hitting, and this is youtube mind you, and i think their crack of the bat has more depth of sound, the show sounds like a twig breaking

i do hope there is emphasis on the most frequent aspect of the game, the pitcher, batter matchup... which 2ksports based their 2010 on... more in the sense of how it looks, how to choose pitches, and release the pitch... but one thing about this i'd really hope for:

what i want is the current pitcher/batter splits screen to be a settable option Y/N for HUD - head up display superimposed onscreen, (while your pitcher is on the mound and the batter walks into the box). this removes you from having to press a button taking you to the batter/pitcher splits screen, thus taking you away from the onfield action, that sucks.

if i dont like how their batter hits against my righty based on the info on the HUD, right there i make a call to the mound and change a pitcher... or if i can see from the HUD that I gave him a 0-2 changeup and he pulled a single on his last atbat, it helps me plan my attack on the fly. i really want this for 2011.

You gotta keep in mind that the memory is very limited with the PS3 hardware. I think it's 512 MB combined - 256 MB of system memory and 256 MB of video memory.. ball boys and a less repetitive crowd is gonna occupy more of the PS3's memory, which it probably doesn't have to spare with everything else The Show pushes into it.

If they do not fix the franchise mode. I will not buy this game next year. That's how bad the problems are. For the first 3 years its pretty great. The trade logic is terrible. It needs to become much better, and the whole free agency not re signing players is just absurdly bad.

Create a stadium....would love to be able to create the old Three Rivers considering I have the opprotunity to play with created rosters that have the likes of Bonds, Bonilla and VanSlyke

Include weather in the game...delays, rainouts, snow and flurries for cold weathered cities during playoff runs (like say in New York or Minnesota)

The ability to edit a players potential grade

                            Add more ratings for players

Different types of ground balls (very high choppers giving a speedy runner the ability to beat the throw out to first base)

Less reaction time for an outfielder when he pushes off the wall after a recieving the ball

Fix the trade logic and free agency in franchise

I thing that bugs me and I don't see mentioned much is that there are never enough players for a full 5 rounds of the draft in franchise mode. The players in the 5th round are never any good but it seems that it wouldn't be that hard to fix and this has been a problem since the beginning and never gotten attention.
