Hi from a newbie. I've been playing this game since 2008, and the constant improvements they've made have made me confident that the 2011 edition will be really good. MLB 10 was almost there, but two things are keeping it from realizing its full potential:
1. The 2013 problem, and its a big one. I hope and pray that the free agent and trade logic gets revised.
If they don't have three-way trades, fine. But there's got to be something that can be done to keep teams from being stupid, or give away established players for free. Being able to edit potential ratings would help a lot. Another thing I've thought of is that each team can have so many "face of the franchise" players. For example, the Mets would have Jose Reyes, David Wright, Johan Santana, and probably even Ike Davis marked that way. These kinds of players couldn't be traded by the CPU. Dealing with 30 teams is pain in the keester.
2. This is a minor issue, so if its not solved, then I don't care, but the padding on catcher's facemasks (the old style) are not tan anymore. They're the team's primary color (i.e. navy blue for the Yankees or the Twins).
3. A set up so that you can get a scouting report on the team for your next game. Who's hot, injuries, details on the pitcher, etc.
4. Ability to fire managers/coaches before your franchise starts, or pre-season. I would've loved to fire Jerry Manuel and Dan Warthen before my franchise even started!
5. Finally, even if they can't put the full career stats on the player's cards, can we at least have the teams added? It would be a very nice addition.
A bit of ethnic pride here, but more common Polish names! Polish-Americans have had a huge role in MLB (Al Simmons, Stan the Man, Yaz, etc...)
Another idea (sorry for sounding like a wishlist here) is to add player personalities. Clubhouse culture does play a part in the game, and having players labeled as a leader or as lazy or something would add to the realism of the game.
Cheers!
